Stops sale of more than 100 assault weapons; protects gun owners by exempting more than 900 specific hunting and sporting weapons
Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), author of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban that expired in 2004, announced on Sunday that she will introduce updated legislation early next year.
“On the first day of the new Congress, I intend to introduce a bill stopping the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of assault weapons as well as large ammunition magazines, strips and drums that hold more than 10 rounds,” Feinstein said. “I am in the process of gathering support for the bill in the Senate and House.”
“I have been working with my staff for over a year on this legislation,” Feinstein added. “It will be carefully focused on the most dangerous guns that have killed so many people over the years while protecting the rights of gun owners by exempting hundreds of weapons that fall outside the bill’s scope. We must take these dangerous weapons of war off our streets.”
A Justice Department study found the Assault Weapons Ban was responsible for a 6.7 percent decline in total gun murders. However, since the 2004 expiration of the bill, assault weapons have been used in at least 459 incidents, resulting in 385 deaths and 455 injuries.
A summary of key provisions in the updated bill:
Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of more than 100 specifically-named firearms as well as certain semiautomatic rifles, handguns and shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips and drums) capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
exempting more than 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting and sporting purposes; and
exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.

now that definitely won't happen, that's literally banning nearly every firearm made since 1950
This is the exact reason I'm not worried. You know the best part about it? Those are the exact words out of Dianne Feinstein's mouth on what they are calling to be banned.
As far as gun sales are concerned, I purchased a new hunting rifle off gunbroker before the shooting had even happened. It just came to my local pawn shop yesterday for transfer. I went there to pick it up, and the place was overwhelmed. This is a place that is incredibly small, and has very little firearms business overall, despite having a large stock for their size. They used to have a wall of ARs, but they are all gone now. On top of it all, I had to wait almost an hour while the guy was on hold with the ATF to get the 4473 processed.
What a stupid bill. Thankfully it won't pass Congress
This isn't as bad as the AWB, it's worse.
I'm tempted to send her an email that simply says "are you really this fucking stupid".

High up politicians don't read emails because they don't care, at least this is my understanding.

It's Feinstein, what do you expect. If this passes through congress, I'll move to Pakistan.
I'll just buy semi-automatics anyways. Who's with me? Anyone? Anyone?
The day the United States has more gun control than Canada you know something has gone wrong.
Fun fact, her phone number is on that website.
Anyone?
Anyone willing to tell her to fuck off?

If anyone is going to do that, do it on skype and record it.

No matter how much you think congress won't pass the bill, once a president backs it, it will pass without delay. It happened with Clinton, it'll happen with Obama.
Well this fucking sucks. Now I do want an apocalypse to happen. Not an "earth go boom" apocalypse, but a "collapse of government + total anarchy" apocalypse.
Well, start buying now, especially magazines, because you won't have a lot of time left.

Yeah, I'm going to look into buying more mags for my Saiga. I'll advise my sister the same for her AR.
OH shit, headline- "Pres Obama Announces The Creation Of A Gun Control Task Force"
He's speaking now.
Heh, it's a good thing I'm militia. I'm pretty sure I'll still be able to buy these things after the ban because of it. :v:
