Can someone school me on AR-15 barrels and why they're tapered? I don't understand why it's thicker/thinner at some lengths of the barrel.
It's because a lot of makers pattern their barrels after the military, which had made those tapers to allow the M203 to be mounted before the wide spread use of barrels. The method carried over into the civilian world, and adds to the look.
Used the whole gubmint gon take muh freedoms shitstorm as an excuse to justify buying a tube extension for my 870.
I've seen a lot of price gouging. Don't know if it's because of Christmas shopping or AWB panic buying. Probably the latter. I have noticed California compliant AR-15s haven't shot up in price very much. Do you think I should get one? Me thinks a bullet button isn't that bad. I plan on using the AR-15 for the shooting range, so just use the tip of a bullet or hex key to drop a mag. If an assault weapons ban doesn't pass, just buy a regular lower later on.
"A former co-chairman of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif., and 10-term House Republican Jack Kingston, a Georgia lawmaker elected with strong National Rifle Association backing, were the latest to join the call to consider gun control as part of a comprehensive, anti-violence effort next year." ---- http://www.telegram.com/article/20121219/NEWS/121219557/1052/news01
Woah woah woah, did anyone else notice his actual words? "Consider" That does not mean that he supports the ban, and that certainly does not mean that all Republicans agree with him. Being a natural born Republican, I can tell you that this is the Republican way of saying "we'll briefly look at it to make people feel better, but we'll still probably say 'No' to a ban". Trust me; I'm a professional amateur. [editline]20th December 2012[/editline]
Seriously considering getting a field-grade M1 Garand from the CMP. I'm a professional libertarian and everything is terrible
I'm a professional libertarian and everything is terrible
Yeah, I can agree with you on that. I'm a professional cynic, you see. :v:
I'm half-way between liberal and libertarian. I like my personal liberties a lot, but I also like my free healthcare and hate bailouts
I'm half-way between liberal and libertarian. I like my personal liberties a lot, but I also like my free healthcare and hate bailouts
that's definitely leaning libertarian it's not really free healthcare either you pay for it through taxes. I'd rather pay for it as I use it personally
I'm not sure how to describe myself, frankly. The only thing I can think of is fiscally conservative and socially apathetic. :v:
I don't know what I really am. Moderate conservative type of thing I guess.
Classic libertarian here. Hack dat gubment down to size!
Classic libertarian here. Hack dat gubment down to size!
And smoke weed! Can't forget that if you're libertarian! :v:
Haha, I'm actually doing that right now. Fuck me, I'm a stereotype :(
that's definitely leaning libertarian it's not really free healthcare either you pay for it through taxes. I'd rather pay for it as I use it personally
i prefer to pay it little by little so when I need it I don't find myself penniless

I'm an athiest, I'm socially liberal, I think we should get the fuck out of the middle east and look at helping south america, I believe we should raise taxes on the rich, we should fund education, I support "obamacare" I don't smoke weed or anything but I think it should be legalized, I also think drug use should be mostly decriminalized, and I love guns...
libertarian here, I don't mind weed but I absolutely hate weed culture and think everyone involved should be drawn and quartered you shouldn't handle firearms while intoxicated
I'm not? I'm sitting at my computer, not blowing things to kingdom come at 12:53 in the morning. I might mess with one of my firearms for a little bit but I still do all the usual safety checks; lock bolt, remove mag, check and double check the chamber, then check the chamber again with finger, etc. I never keep them loaded anyway, and loaded magazines are stored separately. I am of no danger to anyone, I've been around firearms all my life, and take firearm safety very seriously.

We have some things in common, yay! By the way, what do my views make me? I'm not sure it's enough to make me a republican, but I'm 100% certain that I'm not liberal. Help... :C
I'm generally a centrist, those political compass things keep telling me slightly left-centre, but they don't take into account gun ownership, a generally right-wing thing. I figure I probably actually have slightly right-leaning tendencies, but I'm generally centrist.

But I think my views have slightly changed now, since I've gone from having social opinions to not caring.
