Gah, damn that funnyjunk link!
Anyways, so you guys know nothing about Norin scopes, or Norin Optics as a company? I can't find them on the BBB website, so I'm guessing they're foreign.
all folding knives are subpar for heavy use
My Strider SMF would completely disagree. I've hammer/chiseled out chunks of concrete with it, and was not delicate about it. Wiped the blade off, and ran the edge over the sharpener a couple of times, good as new. I'll put my folder up against ANY fixed blade, and I know it will do anything the fixed blade can.
What most people don't understand is, folding knives can be just as strong as a fixed blade, but you will have to pay for that kind of quality. Some people are willing to pay over $1000 for a gun, but when you start talking about $400+ for a knife, they freak out. It doesn't, and has never made sense to me why some people do this.
This is why narcotics are so profitable and the war on drugs only adds fuel to the fire.
Strangled supply over a huge demand

Because when you start paying $400+ for a knife that usually means you're paying for a name.

And there are tri-rails for it too.
Because when you start paying $400+ for a knife that usually means you're paying for a name.
No, that means you are paying for a lifetime of service, as well as hand-made craftsmanship. Strider knives for example are all handmade, and no two knives are exact. You can put 10 Striders side-by-side, and not one of them will be able to use components from the others. They also stand behind all of their knives, regardless of what you do to them. If you manage to break it somehow (save from deliberately trying to break it/crush it, etc.), they will repair it or replace it, no questions asked. They also stand behind their warranty, regardless of who owns the knife. If their name is on it, they honor the warranty, they don't care who bought it.
Strider is not the only company that does this, there are a lot of high quality knife makers who do this. There are also a lot of people who actually realize that you are not just buying a name, but you are buying a quality product with a lifetime guarantee behind it. I know that no matter what, my knife will be with me for as long as I'm around, and I will never have to worry about what happens to it.
Are these knives you speak of poking guns? No? Then this is no place for them.

I get paying up to 150 dollars for a good one, but yeah, 400 bucks. Unless it's made out of a super alloy, it just sounds like a rip off.
I paid $50 for my recon 1 and its taken a lot of abuse, No I haven't gone chipping away at concrete and I don't plan on it either. That's what a chisel, crowbar or hammer is for. Something MADE for chipping at concrete.

Guess it is all up to the buyer eh. Some people like to shell out 600-700 dollars for new GPUS, while others prefer little 300-400 budget cards.
You know what? I'm half-tempted to just say "fuck it", buy the Norin scope, and then give it a decent video/typed review. I can't find ANYTHING on it, which is concerning.
Do you guys know if Amazon has a buyers insurance policy?

i wouldn't mind a mosin pistol grip if the rest of the furniture matched.

Well some people also don't have a need for higher end cards, And 300-400 isn't exactly a budget card.. 100-250 is a budget card. Anywho back on the gun topics, I kinda want to get an M1A when I turn 18. What is the quality of springfield armory and is there anything I need to know that M1A's and M14's have problems with?
Springfield is the biggest producer of M1As. Some have complained of the quality of the receivers. Mine has some heavy machining marks on the internal braces that go inside the wood, but the exterior is crisp and clean of defects.
Your other options are Fulton Armory, LRB Arms or Smith Enterprises. And they all start above the price of a National Match Springfield.
Picking my PTR91KF tomorrow for 800 with 10 steel mags. HNGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is what perplexes me. People will pay $500-$1000 for a gun without blinking, but you start talking money for a knife, and they call it a rip-off. Those $1000 1911s that people pay for regularly, cost at best $150 in raw material. You aren't paying for the material, you are paying for the craftsmanship and the quality that COMPANY produces. It is the exact same for knives. Look at Benchmade knives, one of the most popular selling, well-known names out there. Their average knives run $200-$400 depending on the model. People don't buy them because of the material they are made out of, they are buying them for their craftsmanship and quality. $400 for a knife is not uncommon at all. This is your mid-range price for a quality knife, comparable to the $800-1000 pistols out on the market. Their are knives that go for $800-$1000 easily, and those are your top-shelf custom knives. These would be like your custom shop guns that run $1500-$2000.
Sorry to bring up knives in the gun thread. I will cease any further responses about knives. The hypocrisy that gets spewed from gun owners about expensive knives just kills me sometimes.
I do want to add that I am in the process of getting an unissued M9 for my 6920. That way I can stab those babies when my "hi-capacity clips" are empty.

Unless you're in Canada, then you can get a Norinco M305 for $430.

Late but:
Looking at you benchmade.
They're great knives but you really pay a premium for most of them. $400+ you usually end up paying for the name, or you're a collector.

And I'm just sitting here playing with a $30 replica Hitler Youth knife
No but seriously I'm a huge knife/bayonet collector with some of my favorites being a WW1 US soldier's private purchase Case pocket folder, a WW1 German Gewehr 98 Parade bayonet, WW2 M3 fighting knife, WW2 USN Corpsman's knife, and a relic WW1 German Gewher 98 combat bayonet dug from the Somme with some remaining wood on the handle, and all hardware intact including the still functioning locking mech. I like knives.

I had a stock springfield M1A, and I loved it. The receiver didn't have a mark or dent on it, and like ridge said there were some machine marks on the underside of the receiver, but other than that it was flawless. Only problem I had with the rifle was that my boresnake wouldn't work with it because of the flash hider. I got rid of mine because it was a little expensive to shoot for my tastes. Hopefully you don't turn 18 for another year or so, because finding an M1A for a decent price will be tough, and .308 prices aren't doing to great either.
My friend went shooting today
