I got my PTR for 800$ even, but that is with my work discount.
Okay, lemme try again: Poor-Man's first build v:v:v
Ak build you could probably do for $300 assuming the price of kits hasn't skyrocketed
The part's kit alone will cost you $300. And then you still need a barrel, rec, and all your 922r parts [editline]27th December 2012[/editline]
Okay, lemme try again: Poor-Man's first build v:v:v
The only gun you can really build for cheap is a Suomi. But I don't know where you'd get the required build parts beyond the parts kit, nor how much they'd cost
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/WX-114# Holy fucking nuts, you weren't kidding. [editline]27th December 2012[/editline] http://www.hellboxarmory.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HBA&Product_Code=m31OID Oh shit, HellBox Armory even sells the 80% receivers, hot damn.
If you've got 2-3k you could do an MP5 SBR build

I think the only way you're gonna do a cheapy cheap homebuild is to scratchbuild it. Course taking a mill, lathe and a way of tempering parts into account the tooling gets expensive really fast. Add on a hot bluing setup too if you're not keen on browning or cold bluing. Course you can just use Drain-O for the chemicals, seen a 10/22 that was blued with Drain-O and it was just pristine.
You know what? I think I'm going to save up for a Suomi build. Thanks for the suggestions you guys <3
Yeah I've been looking at AK parts kits recently, couldn't find one for less than $300..
even before they really weren't going for less than $250ish from what I saw
Hey everyone. Long time lurker of the threads and first time posting. Read up in /k/ too. I've got a question for the lot of you. I've wanted to get into real steel shooting as I only play airsoft now and want something nice to start off with. I have a 91/30 now but want something nice to take to the range. I'd like something semi and really have no preference on sights. I don't really know what to put here as to what you guys want to know from me. Definitely under $500. I'd like a rifle but wouldn't mind a pistol caliber carbine along the lines of a Keltec Sub2k. I really really like the looks of the Saiga 7.62 20" barrel if that helps for anything. Thanks everyone!
An SKS would make an excellent range toy with cheap ammo at about 25 cents a shot with TulAmmo from Walmart. You can get a Yugoslavian SKS for 300-400 from Samco Global (I've never dealt with them before, just letting you know). If you're a polymer kind of guy you could put the appropiate stock on it (and receive flak from the purists). Another rifle (that can be a tiny bit above your price range, especially with the market bullshit happening) that looks kinda sorta similar to the stock Saiga is the Kel-Tec SU-16. It takes AR15 mags and folds in half. There's a version out there that has a true folding stock that allows you to shoot with it folded. However, Keltec rifles, especially the sub2000, are mythical beasts. Used to be bery hard to find and currently near impossible. A practical range toy would be a .22LR rifle like a Ruger 10/22 or Marlin 795 so you can practice your marksmanship at very very low cost. If you go with a Ruger 10/22 you could very well spend the remainder of your 500$ dressing it up with all sorts of aftermarket goodies, if that's your sort of thing. But remember, it's still going to be a dressed up peashooter in comparison to other guns. I can vouch for the Sub2000 being a fun range toy with some good home defense application. I can also vouch for the fact they cease to exist and take real dedication/dumb luck to find. Another possible pistol caliber carbine to consider would be the Hi-Point Carbine, which does indeed follow the HiPoint motto of bulky, ugly, but VERY functional. But you could alleviate that with the ATI aftermarket Stock, which makes it look like a Beretta storm:
Tomorrow, we're going into the mountains to go shooting. We're probably going to wear cold weather clothing, so we'll look kind of like apocalypse survivors. :v: We'll also experiment with some new targets, which my mom hopefully won't shoot the supports of again.
Useful info <3
Thanks for the help <3 I was looking at the Ruger 10/22 sporter but I can't seem to understand why they're so expensive. $380 for a .22? Jeez. I might as well get a SKS, I'm feeling. :v:
Okay, lemme try again: Poor-Man's first build v:v:v
you can do an AR pistol build for under $500 if you know what you're doing. used upper for $350-400 or so, polymer lower for $50, lower parts kit for $50

Hey guys, I've been thinking about building an ak74. Can anyone point me in the direction of a kits/recievers etc that they would recommend? I'd probably be going for something like this:

We were just discussing it
http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons The bitch is fucking insane. NFA Registration on all grandfathered firearms? She is killing her legislation before it has even been presented. How the fuck does she think a $200 6-9 month process is going to happen for millions of firearms?

Well good fucking luck with that, my Dad, grandfather's and EVERYONE who I know with a gun would be registered as a criminal because they all have a gun that they bought off some other guy, This bill better not fucking pass.

All gun owners with grandfathered firearms would technically be in violation, because the only guns that are registered under the NFA are NFA firearms.
This just blows, I'm kinda thinking I should buy a pistol now instead of a graphics card.
This just blows, I'm kinda thinking I should buy a pistol now instead of a graphics card.
Just wait until I carry out a massacre with a GTX 690...
Lol, not anymore
Not right now obviously, anything is going to be going high for a few more weeks
Now where the hell can I get a glock 20 and how can I save up another $200 for the gun...

Ya know, if I didn't give 2 shits I'd take my Hard drive, graphics card, CPU heatsink and my power supply and go on a massacre just to show that I can do just as much damage with blunt and sharp objects as I could with a gun.

Then there is the fact that a bunch of idiots in the world are actually willing to pay over $2000 for a pair of used gloves that were owned by a NOBODY! For those who may not know, Nutnfancy is nothing more than a youtube gun/knife reviewer.
