Really?
pre-duty AK47s are pretty rare
I feel really stupid for only recently finding out that grain weight refers to the weight of the projectile and not the amount of powder in the casing. Well, the more you know.
In fact, yesterday some kid came in to buy some 22lr where I work, and didn't have a clue about anything. First, he said he'd only buy Remington because he'd only run "one brand of ammo through my gun". Then, he asked if we had 60 grain cartridges. I can't fathom why other than close-mid range varmint hunting, but he implied for plinking.
Of course, he lost all credibility when deciding to go for 225 rounds of Remington lead, which costs over half the price of the 555 copper plated Winchester that we sell. Hope he has a cleaning kit!

Oh also some awesome regular we get at the store offered to sell me a Lee-Enfield for $250. He implied that it's a No. 4 but I'm not sure on the specifics. Do it Y/N?
As long as it's not a sporter go for it.
So, I'm probably getting a .30-06 Husqvarna M98 Mauser, and I'm looking to put a scope on it. I was thinking of putting a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40mm with LR Duplex reticle on it, but I'm mostly going to be using it at 100, but the info pamphlet for the LR Duplex reticle says it's supposed to be sighted at 200 and then the drop is for 300, 400, and 500. I take it the reticle wouldn't do properly for zeroing at 100, and then drop at 200, 300, and 400? Ideally I'd like a reticle that zeroes at 100 and drops up to 500, but I don't want to deal with the Leupold custom shop.
What are your opinions on it? Is there a scope that zeroes at 100 for .30-06 properly? Am I better off just getting the standard Duplex and a CDS custom dial for my loads if I plan on going hunting/shooting it farther distances?
No opinions on this?
We just had our cost day sale... Opened the doors at 8, had a line of about 500-600 people lined up out the door and around the building at 7:30. Absolutely insane. We sold everything in the store at cost, and holy fucking damn, it was batshit crazy...
i really wanna work at a gun store
so i kind of put my M1 and sort of SKS by accident on armslist (sorry trunk you know i love you)
long story short i may have a trade for my sks with a p220 with a laser sight
Sweet. I just managed to get myself a hunting property! All the guy wants is for me to ask someone at my handgun club to ring him and say I'm good and all, and that I won't shoot at his sheep or something
1500Ha, wants me to shoot roos and other pests
The daily quote for us working at any retail gun stores:
"Hey, so do you guys have any .223 or 5.56 in stock yet?"
No, and we won't for ages. The entire COUNTRY wants them, stop asking every 2 hours. I had 3 cases come in at 9 PM about a week ago. All but 3 boxes were gone in an hour.

THEY RAISED THE PRICE BY 100$ SINCE LAST WEEK
FUUUUUUUUUCK.
According to a response I asked a few days ago, when they first bumped the prices up
"Sir,
Due to selling out caused the price increase when we received the new shipment from out suppliers, sorry for the change.
J&G Sales"

That's about $100 more than a standard VZ-858 costs up here, and depending on retailer it's $200 more.

Not the first time unless the guy recommends spotlighting.
The property is only a hour or so drive away in Williamstown
Aww man, there's a LAR Grizzly for sale in this country, AND I CAN AFFORD IT!
Downside? I can't legally even apply for it for a nother 6 months!
And it's with reloading dies, 200 once-fired cases and 250 already reloaded rounds.

that's the gun question, and make it easier for you 'murricans the price for it, is only 1100$!
I was going to suggest that you have it transferred to a dealer at your club who holds it until your 6 months is up. That's what my dad did with our first handgun
[editline]2nd January 2013[/editline]
Norway probably isn't the same though
It's a possibility, but for me to own a magnum class handgun, I need to be in a club that does magnum class tournaments. I don't know if they do that at the nearest club.
they make a distinction for magnum-class handguns? your country's gun laws are fucked

Makes some really good points. Consider them before buying a 1911.

I'm not an american (sadly) and i feel it's my duty as a gun lover to own a 1911.
The bottom line is that as long as you're not depending on your 1911 to save your ass everything should be fine.
they make a distinction for magnum-class handguns? your country's gun laws are fucked
It's not a law-based distinction actually. It's what is allowed within each sport, by the sports' rules. And if a club is only doing Olympic Target shooting, you can only aquire Olympic Target shooting guns if you're a member. and vice versa, if it's a magnum only club, you can't get a .22 Olympic target gun.

This. This right here. Also in the calls we get are questions like "Do you have any AR15's? Do you know what they are going to do with the whole gun ban deal (which I try to explain my best and inform them,) do you have any .223 in the back?"
We don't gouge our prices AT ALL so everything is very low priced. Mags aren't increased in price, AR's are at normal price (when we have them,) and people love us for that.

My local shop is the same. It's great
Yeah, I've honestly became friends with a good amount of the customers that come in quite often too. The gun business is just awesome :v:
fuck i may own a p220 by tonight
Someone help I can't seem to use normal mag releases on pistols anymore, after using my P99 for so long. Is there any trick to it so I don't have to twist the gun a little bit every time?

The P99 does have an easy mag release, doesn't it? Can't help you though, I don't have that problem. Try just picking up a gun and trying to drop the mag a whole bunch.
