I think it comes down to who actually made the gun as well. With Glock, you pay ~$500 and you're going to get a quality pistol, period. Say what you want about ergos or any of the other nitpickings on Glock, but fact is, a Glock is like a damn tank. Pay ~$500 for a 1911... you might get lucky, odds are you won't.
I love 1911s, I'd even go so far to say that it's my favorite pistol design, but you have to pay out the ass to get a high quality piece. Stuff like Springfield's top shelf guns, Kimber, and if you're really loaded Nighthawk or Dan Wesson.
You pay $350 for a 1911 in Canada and you get an ugly Chinese gun that'll survive the nuclear apocalypse and still be able to be used to shoot IPSC.

I like. I like a WHOLE lot.
Yeah some dude called saying he had a compact 1911, had to turn that down because I dislike compact guns
I've actually got a ton of offers and a lot of asking to ship which I always say no to
Why won't the p220 lady email me back >:( also I think she doesn't know a lot about guns because like some info is wrong

That's a P250. Good gun, but nothing like the P220.
Yeah but she's wrong
Look at the picture that things massive and a p250 is a compact gun. Massive gun in .45 has to be a p220

Last time I saw a Chinese 1911 in the States was over a decade ago.

That's a P250 through and through. They make full size 250s as well.
Well the P250 also comes in a package where you can swap the internals into a smaller, compact frame. I've sold two of them before. Good guns, but they are basically sig's economy line.

Do I not do it?
Went shooting a few days ago.

The Python was amazing, although I was expecting .357 to have a bit more kick.
The P89 felt pretty nice as well, but it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time so we were getting a lot of double feeds.
The Saiga however was pretty eh. Would not recommend.
To be fair though, they didn't buy it. They won it in a raffle for 50 dollars. :v:

The frame is polymer. It's P250. P220s are steel frames.

P250 is a fine gun. Go for it.

.357 is such a nice round, plenty of power and manageable recoil.
[editline]1st January 2013[/editline]
I've been interested for a bit in buying a Saiga, what's wrong with it?.

It needs to be converted to be a baby killer.

I dunno, it was just kind of... weird. It felt wrong and it was pretty boring to shoot.
I'm talking about that specific rifle though, not Saiga's in general.

Hence why I said Canada, nearly everything I hear about Nornico 1911s sold here now is that they're reliable, cheap, and accurate, but the finish is bad and occasionally they have a burr here or there. They also tend to sell out fairly fast when they come in, a shipment arrived for the country in early December and all the usual places that stock them are already out.

IT WAS A .223 SAIGA
:suicide:
never understood the appeal of a saiga without a pistol grip

That too :v:

Sounds like the Canada equivalent of the RIA 1911s
I think if I were to purchase a Saiga of any kind, the first thing I would do would be convert it.

We probably have those ones around too, they probably cost more.

Oh it's polymer? I'd rather a steel gun but nothing wrong with polymer.

Makes some really good points. Consider them before buying a 1911.

Gen3 glock or gen 4?
got a message from some dude asking if id want a nagant revolver and a tokarev for my m1
holy shit how do i hold all these guns
On the 1911 subject, this just in, EVERY MODEL OF GUN MALFUNCTIONS.
And he's also wrong about the arched mainspring housing, the original 1911 was designed with a flat one, plus it literally takes no effort to depress the grip safety. Every bad thing he had to say about 1911s in that video are the result of a) shittily made guns, and b) end user error.
Gen3 glock or gen 4?
gen 3, more proven design, simpler to repair and maintain, less parts.

I'll hold them for you...
Also on the subject of 1911s, damn I want this http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=323000530
Would any of you guys trust a revolver with any pitting on the cylinder, no matter how minor? There's a Colt up for under $500, but the cylinder is apparently pitted. I don't know how much so, should I find out, or should I just move on to a more safe option?
I'm currently saving up for an SKS (woo no job teenager), but I fear that by the time I have the money, I won't be able to find one anywhere.
