You have a Lee Enfield trainer? Is it a No.2, No.7 or No.8?
how do I tell? The front sight shield, clip guide and front volley sight are gone so it isn't worth any money
[editline]7th January 2013[/editline]
It's a no.2 MKIV
So what is the big deal about M1 Carbines? Why do people pay so much money for them?
Because of THE WAR

Jericho isn't WWII though
It's like, post apocalyptic kansas
They are damn cool, wish they were legal here.
I know an RSL club (a club for returned veterans) that has one their wall. Looks like it's been there for years and I suspect it's still fully functional :v:

What country do you live in?
I just think it's weird that M1 Garands can be had for so much cheaper than the carbine

Whatever happened to that show? I liked it :C

Not enough people did. The third season is in comic form.
Been searching for a .22 lately and went to several gun shops today. They sold an 802 Plinkster, nice little fun rifle, for the price of...

what's that in USD? those go for about $90 here
What country do you live in?
Australia
Australia
I hope some miracle happens and you can have more fun stuff soon.
Australia
The way you guys talk about the Australian government, I'm surprised they haven't seized it and melted it down for the good of the children :v:

They probably don't know it exists and the RSL club probably hasn't bothered to check it because it has been there for years

You can find an M1 Garand for cheaper than a quality M1 carbine, but I doubt it would be worth owning.
Whatever happened to that show? I liked it :C
Second season was only half length, and honestly ended pretty poorly.
The studio didn't want a second season, but the audience got angry and sent them pallets of peanuts (a reference to the season 1 finale), so the studio relented and did a half season, which was less about surviving and more about petty drama.

I think a 650$ (with shipping) M1 Garand from the CMP is worth owning

CMP Garands are pretty nice and go for around $600-$700. Granted the parts don't always match they've got new barrels and furniture and shoot just fine.

For $600-700 you won't be getting a new barrel or furniture. Those guns start above $1000.
What you WILL get is a gun that has probably killed a few fascists or communists, has gone through armory level refurbishment and then marked off as surplus. But the stock will be beat up, and the barrel will be worn.

Honestly I'd rather storm Omaha Beach than spend the apocalypse in Kansas...
Don't know what type of scope that is, but Norc SKS's are going for 4-600$ right now on gun broker, so try that range. If you tossed your PSL up on gun broker with it's current config, and start the bidding at 1,000$, I'd be willing to bet that it would hit over 2,000$ before the bidding ends.
Thank you, I might tarde the SKS but I'll keep the PSL. They have been dryin up for a few months now and I think they will only get higher. Just like gold, really.
Never do a trade in. A shop will give you half the lowest price on gunbroker for it. So you're looking at around $120 for the SKS and maybe $600-700 for the PSL.
I meant a FTF Trade, not a gunshop. They won't give me a damn thing for it. I saw SEVERAL AR-15 Pistols getting only 500 trade credit at the gun show, three in a row, all nice brands, no Deltons or home made things.
Can't you just walk over to FAMAE and punch them in the dick until they make a cheap, domestic plinking rifle?
FAMAE is the army's personal weapons factory in a country that hates gun owners. That ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
Fuck all. I've done involved myself in the gun control debate thread.
I just think it's weird that M1 Garands can be had for so much cheaper than the carbine
Actually, outside of the CMP M1 Garands are hella expensive. Like $900+

Don't you have to become a member of CMP before they'll let you buy one though?
You need to be a US Citizen, a member in a CMP affiliated club, and provide proof of marksmanship or other firearms related activity.
[editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
And of course be legally allowed to purchase a firearm
For some reason the pages that list all of the CMP-affiliated clubs are down, is anyone else having any issues when they click on a state from this list?
http://www.odcmp.com/clubs/searchclubs.htm
your best option is to join the gca. It's only like $25/year http://www.thegca.org/
I want a CMP Garand now. Too bad they won't ship to my dorm :(
Don't you have to become a member of CMP before they'll let you buy one though?
Yes, it isn't hard at all to do. All you need to do is find a club that will accept you, get a club card from them and go to a range to get a paper filled out by the rangemaster that you can display good gun discipline.
I ended up joining the Civil Operators /k/lub, I'm stuck on the getting proof I can use a gun safely part since I haven't used a formal range in a long time.
Only losers use gun saftey
Safety off, round chambered, pointed at people at all times. #yolo
