I've honestly got no clue what it is, it fits on the rail of an AK, looks like a PSO or your typical russian scope, but it's got Russian and English on it. It's got a switch and a place for a battery, but I've stuck AA, AAA, and stacked watch bateries in there and nothing turns on. I can post pics if you think you can Identify it.
I KNOW I can. Also, PSL's were going for 700-1500 before this shit with one mag in VG condition.
If it has a battery compartment, then it isnt the original Romak/FPK Scope... Those were PSO-1 copies without a battery, they used tritium but they are always burned out.
Buy it, shoot it once, decide you don't like it, sell it.
Done
I don't think you guys get what we're gonna do. It's not actually a straw sale in that he WILL be purchasing and picking up the gun. I will simply be purchasing it from him privately a couple of days after :v:
Yeah POSP's and PSO's are easy to identify, here's my POSP-1's reticle

Usually if you have a PSO-1 type scope the chevrons will be placed for the ballistics of rounds like 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, and rarely 5.45x39, the one's on mine are for 54R of course. The scales look different too sometimes.

Does yours look a bit like this at all?
I dont understand those types of sights. How are you supposed to know how much higher to aim to account for bullet drop?

Old pictures, just realized I don't have a picture of the whole scope, if you need one I can take one real quick.
I dont understand those types of sights. How are you supposed to know how much higher to aim to account for bullet drop?
Generally it's 100 meters per chevron.

Yeah, except it has english above and below the russian on the switch pannel, and the battery cover is a lil different.
I dont understand those types of sights. How are you supposed to know how much higher to aim to account for bullet drop?
the thing in the bottom left is a range finder, you adjust for bullet drop with the elevation turret. the elevation turret goes to 1000m, the chevrons below the main chevron are set for 1100m, 1200m, and 1300m if you set the elevation turret at 1000m

I've seen the reticle yours has like once and it looks really cool when lit up by the illumination system, i'll see if i can find it.
Does it say its made in Belarus? Most of the Russian optics are.

Its a Russian PO Scope.

Yup thats it.
Generally it's 100 meters per chevron.
Depends on scope, but yeah. @beanhead, you use the top one for shooting out to a cetain range, then use the next one down. I want to say on my POSP-6 that you use it up to 1000m and the next one is 1100m, then 1200m, etc...
[sp]I could be wrong about that one, idk...[/sp]

Chances are high it will use one single AA battery or stacks (typically two or thre) LR44 Button Cell batteries. Typically, you can get standard bulbs for these, in multiple colors.

Original battery, They make adapters i'm pretty sure
oh and LR44's should work in place of the ancient ones like Camwi said.

know a good place to get spare bulbs that doesn't ship from Russia or the Ukraine and take a month to get here?

Just curious, You plan on putting this on a PSL?
As soon as I get one. It came with my RPK when I bought it (guy had it advertised as a dragunav, lol), so I've been wanting to get a PSL for a while now.
[editline]12th January 2013[/editline]
And again, thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it!

Ah, If it doesn't work out POSP's were going for like 190 before the scare.
Just bought 6 lower parts kits at uninflated prices... Now I need buffer tubes
so my local gunstore just got acquainted with a shipment of 15 mauser k98ks
not 15 of them for long
hehhehehe

I envy you.
Also, as a prospective buyer of a K98(and adding more antique weapons to that) that doesn't exactly have a history of a lot of purchases, what are the ins and outs of getting a C&R license?
oh god ohg od
it was made in 1939 in germany
eventually captured by russians
issued back to russian soldiers
and the man who used this rifle to kill germans was V. Peshkov
oh dear
Ugh, just got into a debate with someone who's usually very mature and logical. Pretty much went like this:
[Post link to news website saying some county had bought guns for teachers]
Makes some comment about how it's stupid and how you don't want some minimum wage teacher defending your kids
I respond by saying that when your life is endangered you're better off with a gun than without and that many people defend themselves every day with guns
He says, word for word, this: "Armed teachers should just shoot themselves."
I just respond with "rediculous"
He responds by saying "At least I can spell"
I tell him how mature it is to be pointing out a simple spelling mistake instead of actually debating me and then he blocks me...
This is coming from a guy who is usually very level headed, mature and logical

When I bought mine, Local POSP's were in the 400 range... It is cheaper to use an American Scope with a Rail adapter, but I don't think it looks "right"...

OH man. The Q and A's.
[editline]12th January 2013[/editline]
I find it hilarious how it was still going for barely anything, and yet this one guy keeps raising the price by a thousand dollars each bid.
Gawt DAYUM those bids... Should have painted it black. It isn't an assault rock unless it is black or scary looking

You can't argue with some who is afraid of what they don't know about.
I had a guy at the range last weekend who SBR'd his Mosin... Stupid, but hilarious and fun to play around with. Thing sounded like a cannon going off :v:
