it was made in 1939 in germany
eventually captured by russians
issued back to russian soldiers
and the man who used this rifle to kill germans was V. Peshkov
oh dear
So you gonna post any pictures of Peshkov's Mauser?
I want to do a project like the cockweasel. Chop down a mosin to about 2-3" of barrel, chop the stock off, and put a muzzle brake on it to enhance the sound.
So in other words, you just really hate everyone at your local gun range.

Who is V. Peshkov? Google searches aren't very good. I'm getting a musician, a guy who got arrested and probably an author.

He was apparently a Russian soldier during WWII who was issued HellSoldier's new/old Mauser.
I had a guy at the range last weekend who SBR'd his Mosin... Stupid, but hilarious and fun to play around with. Thing sounded like a cannon going off :v:
I've been thinking about building an obrez for ages. I think I'd keep about 8 inches of barrel though, not cut down almost to the chamber like people tend to do

I think this would be relatively related:

that's exactly how I was thinking I'd do it

More flamethrower than gun.
Only way I'd ever do an obrez I think.
Just photoshopped this up.

You could probably use a MIG torch to cut out a steel plate for the front of the rifle styled like an Enfield, and then smooth it out before you blue it/whatever.
this is how I would likely do it, though that's about 6 inches of barrel so I'd probably make it a little bit longer

billions of hours in ms paint
[editline]12th January 2013[/editline]
basically just standard obrez but with a slightly longer barrel and a shortened stock instead of a lobbed off one

A MIG torch? to cut steel?
Even then, I am having a hard time imagining what you are describing.

Okay so I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to welding, but couldn't you use a torch to cut yourself an Enfield-style front plate?
I'd rather dremel one out
Go to gunshow, Line around the entire compound to get in. "Fuck this all I'm going to see is 1,000 overpriced 'babby killing assult wepons'

I hope I don't get into a bidding war in seven days...
I saw a guy who had demilled two Nuggets, then built a receiver out of the demilled parts, rewelded it, and made a non-SBR Obrez. I think he was from California so he couldn't get and SBR
Any of you guys know of any good modern military tv shows? Been trying to find some. Something like Generation Kill I suppose. Also, is there anything like Special Ops Mission? I liked the idea of that show, too bad there is no more of it
I want to make a Mosin M38 even more carbines than it is.

Surviving the cut was a pretty cool show, but I haven't watched it in a long time. "Jericho" was a cool show, but not really military-y. A good movie though is 9th company.
Is "Ross Kemp in Afghanistan", "Ultimate Force", "The Unit", and "Over There" any good?
Ross Kemp stuff is pretty good.

Also to add to the Obrez pictures. I'd make this:

I enjoyed Over There, but it was a short show (I have the entire series on 4 discs). The Unit is pretty good, but it's about half split between special forces operatives and drama on the home front.

ok thanks for quoting.
I miss our old Colt Cadet. Such a beautiful little .22.
We finally got a gun shipment in, including a Mossberg 930 with a muzzle brake on it.
I'd really like to pick up one of the Marlin .22 mags that we have just sittin' there. Always seemed like a fun round to try. That, or a 243.
