This is so well written, so well organized, so many good sources/citations.
I'm going to cry. (tears of joy)
This is going straight to facebook.
Definitely good. Does not seem like something that will only preach to the choir and it does not sound insane like many people (Alex Jones for example).
We really need to get those loud and moronic assholes to shut up, they'll be the end of us
Just posting this here for you Americans:

Ugh I wish I had money, I always wanted to build an M16A4 style AR 15. I need to get a job. Don't know if the local range would let me use it there anyways.
The curious person i am, i go down stairs to take a peep at a wrapped up bundle my dad told me was the broken CO-2 pellet rifle we tried fixing a while back.
I unwrapped it, and turns out he's been hiding a Mossberg 195K-A bolt action shotgun, which is stupid - it has no ammo to use, and since this is in OZ we can't get ammo with a licence, and i have no idea where he got it.
Such a shame, if it were possible to licence it i'd freakin love to shoot it.

What state you in? I have a licence and can remove it from your care if you're worried about having it. Also, being caught with a pellet gun will get you the same jail sentence as a shotgun

What I mean to say is I can register it

A bolt shotgun is on my list of guns to get
I enjoyed Over There, but it was a short show (I have the entire series on 4 discs). The Unit is pretty good, but it's about half split between special forces operatives and drama on the home front.
What was that mini series on HBO a while back about the Iraq War? It had a dude playing a Journalist and riding around with a squad of soldiers as the war started I think... no idea how long it lasted but, I thought it was a pretty well done show.

Generation Kill, 7 episodes about 70 minutes long each. It's a true story written by the journalist. I have the book

Damn, ninja'd.
Hey guys, question for you all.
I have a Marlin 880 .22lr with a cheapo 4x12 Simmons scope mounted on it. What do you think it might be worth in trading in for another .22lr hunting rifle and what could be comparable? I'm trying to get rid of the bolt-action rifles I can't use very well in favour of either pump or semi-automatics.
Thanks

I posted a link to that on my Facebook last night. My uncle blamed violent video games. I pointed out that I got my first violent video game from him, when he gave me a copy of BF1942.
Also, here is a video of him shooting my AR:

A good read. I give it 10/10 pistol grips.

Finless-Flechette rounds are pretty damn nasty...
I had no idea it was so difficult to find a decent condition K98. Every RC I find for sale is sold out, and I hardly have the money for the all-original ones brought back from Europe after WWII. If only I had a halfway decent local shop.
Came across this in the paper

My state of Massachusetts is making it even harder for gun owners here. They are raising the tax on firearms (which is already pretty high) as well as requiring insurance, and considering legislation that would mandate "rifles capable of holding more than 10 rounds and shotguns capable of holding more than 5" be stored at a gun club.
Like one of my friends pointed out, Massachusetts used to have 1.5 million gun owners in 1998, now we have less than 300,000. The state legislature is trying to eliminate gun ownership here through a process of gradualism, and its working.
At this point I am seriously considering moving to Texas.
What difficulties are you having with bolt actions? My dad wouldn't let me even touch a semi auto until I had mastered the bolt action, as the bolt requires you to re sight every time, you don't get that feeling of "oh i can just keep shooting" which is a dangerous mind set to have, as you'll end up wasting ammunition, and might be overshooting the berm (at long distances)
As I discussed with Yeagar's wonderful voicing of his opinion; I'm a southpaw, so right-handed bolts are difficult to use, as many require me to move my left hand completely off the weapon, rotate the weapon completely to cycle, then go about reaquiring the target. My Marlin's a bit better than most, being as the grip is low enough I can use my right hand, but most bolts I can't do that with, without losing big chunks of skin, anyways. Just wondering if you guys might know what I could get from trading it in for another that I may be able to use better for small-game hunting.

Shuffle a few steps north into Vermont... like the wild west up there.

I've actually spent many summers in Vermont.... Maybe that's a possibility.

you could get a mossberg plinkster for a 100$. Just make sure you get some decent magazines though.
No one will ever buy it
Considering the market now, someone probably will...

god damn it never ends this shit
how much longer until we get sane prices again?
Until whenever Congress either proposes and fails to pass a bill through committee, or until it makes it through committee and dies on the House floor, more than likely. And thanks for the info, I'll keep it in mind!

I wonder what that guy would want for that rifle minus the optics, all of the mags, rail covers, ... really, all of the add-ons... $4k is just a little high for something I'll find one setup I personally like and leave it alone.
That rifle should be worth like $2000
[editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
Fuck you can buy an RPD for $2000
