My state of Massachusetts is making it even harder for gun owners here. They are raising the tax on firearms (which is already pretty high) as well as requiring insurance, and considering legislation that would mandate "rifles capable of holding more than 10 rounds and shotguns capable of holding more than 5" be stored at a gun club. Like one of my friends pointed out, Massachusetts used to have 1.5 million gun owners in 1998, now we have less than 300,000. The state legislature is trying to eliminate gun ownership here through a process of gradualism, and its working. At this point I am seriously considering moving to Texas.
Pennsylvania is relatively close and we have pretty lax gun laws. We're a class 3 state also.
Wyoming is looking like the most gun friendly state at this point. I'm hoping Idaho will adopt it's own anti-Fed act. Be nice if other states followed suit, the Fed wouldn't be able to deal with them all.
I've been to Wyoming. Really pretty and nice place but too desolate for me
I thought Alaska still had the spot as #1? no-permit-required conceal carry, open carry, no FOID's, ect.
If Alaska had better climate and wasn't cold as shit, I'd live there.
I thought Alaska still had the spot as #1? no-permit-required conceal carry, open carry, no FOID's, ect.
Do they intend to actively arrest Federal agents if they attempt to confiscate guns, magazines or ammo? There's legislation in Wyoming to do just that. http://legisweb.state.wy.us/2013/Introduced/HB0104.pdf Would be especially awesome if they extended it to include NFA guns.
Do they intend to actively arrest Federal agents if they attempt to confiscate guns, magazines or ammo? Fuck guys. I think I have contenderitus. Thinking about getting a new barrel and my contender hasn't even GOT HERE YET.
I thought Alaska still had the spot as #1? no-permit-required conceal carry, open carry, no FOID's, ect.
VA's not far behind, either. We still require CCW, but Open Carry past 18 is legal, no FOID's, no registry of any firearms (except CCW holders and LEOs), and Concealed Carry inside of personal property (including territory around it, and private vehicles with the exception of Interstate Highways) is legal without a CCW. But, come to think of it, we make that up with some really, really screwy and wacky laws on the private and religious areas... nevermind...
Lol @ sobotnik rating Distortion's post winner. He's so fucking sad.
As I discussed with Yeagar's wonderful voicing of his opinion; I'm a southpaw, so right-handed bolts are difficult to use, as many require me to move my left hand completely off the weapon, rotate the weapon completely to cycle, then go about reaquiring the target. My Marlin's a bit better than most, being as the grip is low enough I can use my right hand, but most bolts I can't do that with, without losing big chunks of skin, anyways. Just wondering if you guys might know what I could get from trading it in for another that I may be able to use better for small-game hunting.
You can get a Savage MK2 GL, left handed bolt action .22LR, for a little under $200 at the cheapest. I've got one on order myself.
Lol @ sobotnik rating Distortion's post winner. He's so fucking sad.
The last thing we should be doing is giving him attention, especially over ratings. Let him live in his fantasy land, his opinions are silly but theres nothing wrong with them.
Ooh, that might be an idea! Thanks! Also, it's kinda scary how similar my Marlin is to the above image...
I am always gonna have to chime in on .22 related shit with out reading what anyone else has posted because the Marlin 795 is one of the best .22's (Assuming you're looking for a semiauto .22 with a detachable box mag) out there. 1. It is cheaper than a 10/22, got mine for $150 nib, and it shoots amazingly well. Only down side is the magazines being nigh impossible for me to find... Oh, and if you get one, get a set of TechSights... you won't regret it. [t]http://www.marlinfirearms.com/images/zoom_795.jpg[/t] And Techsights http://www.tech-sights.com/marlin.htm [t]http://www.tech-sights.com/marlinweb.jpg[/t]
i got to thinking the other day can you guys even imagine what my RPK would be worth now? i could have probably got like $1500 for it
i got to thinking the other day can you guys even imagine what my RPK would be worth now? i could have probably got like $1500 for it
I'm kicking myself in the ass right now too, because my M1A I sold for 1k in stuff would be going for like 2-3 grand right now. FFS the magazines are going for 100$ a pop, I gave the dood my spare 5 mags for free dammit.
Hnghhhh just got 4 boxes of 45 Federal HST

I might look at what the 795, but for some reason I'm also thinking semi-autos are illegal to hunt with in PA? I know they are for deer season, anyways. Really my stipulation is I want it to be within reasonable price range of what my Marlin would resell for to buy my new rifle.

It was shot down by the courts. Just like it will this time.
Usually small game hunting is pretty unregulated compared to large game.
This is rather true, and I know a few of the guys we hunt with use semi-auto .22s, anyways for squirrel. My thing though, is as an out-of-state hunter on private land surrounded by two state game-lands where we get a lot of game wardens coming through and watching our edges, I just don't want to add any extra risk to my family for some little thing. PA wardens can be really peculiar about what they will tolerate and let slide by some years.
A quick question for those of you who shoot with aperture iron sights. Do you have any problems with focusing/generally aiming down the sights in low light conditions or against a dark background? My range has a bigass pitch black backstop and it screws with the focusing on my tech sights. Wondering if hi-vis/glow paint on the sights can fix it.

Home Depot sells reflective paints, as do most small hardware stores, just put a dab on the front sight blade and you should be good.

I was thinking about getting a separate gas tube with different front sights. That way I could have one sight that was GI, and then one with some fluorescent paint on the bead. Then I could use the non-GI National Match sights too, but still have a way to make my gun all GI again. All I would have to do to change them out was unscrew the gas tube and put the other one in.

We have unlicensed open carry. :v: Also, the gun owners might just be moving elsewhere.

To anyone thinking of getting one they are great shooters out of the box and usually around $150 got mine for $125. If you get the 795 check the serial numbers, you want to get one with the MMxxxxxxx serial numbers avoid the 91xxxxxx ones. If you're interested in a ton of aftermarket parts and tacticool shit than get a 10/22.

Accurate and cheap. Just be sure to apply some blue or green loctite to the rear sight if you are not going to mount an optic or tech sights immediately. The rear sight tends to walk out of the groove. Happens on my gun any way.
I see a problem with the fact that assult rifles are availible for purchase. Now if your a hunter or "redneck" it's understandable that you own a few rifles that are not fully automatic, and maybe a shotgun, but the need for a fully automatic weapon such as the assult rifle used in the colorado shooting is unessary not even for home protection. yes i am american if that matters any.
From a gaming community which I lurk around on.
Are these "assult rifles" a new kind of weapon I've never heard about before?
