Are these "assult rifles" a new kind of weapon I've never heard about before?
It's what people who are ignorant about guns and gun laws say everything that doesn't have a wood stock is.
Just found out ProMag makes high-cap mags for the Marlin 795. Even 70 round drums.

They might even feed 5 whole rounds before they explode and destroy your hands...
I don't mind normal average day joes not knowing the difference between an AR-15 and an M16. At a glance it's hard to tell the two apart unless you know what to look for. Hopefully they are open minded about being educated on the differences.
That same benefit of the doubt definitely does not extend to legislators though who insist on writing laws from a position of almost complete ignorance.

Why would the magazine explode? :|
Do the magazines intrinsically cause headspacing issues or something?

It's OK if you don't know the differences between an AR-10 and an AR-15, or an M-16 and an AR-15, or an AKM and an AK-47. But if you're talking out your ass saying your "average redneck" can walk into a quickie mart and buy a full automatic Rifle, thats not OK.
My dad just picked up a Ruger mk1. im not to sure its a mk 1 but it looks old as heck so i just assumed. i should ask him about it

you've obviously never used a promag
you've obviously never used a promag
You say that like it's a bad thing.
I guess if the round took a nosedive into the magazine and the bolt slammed into the back of the .22lr round it might set it off if there were enough force, but that doesn't seem very plausible.
Could you guys elaborate? Is pro mag an awful company?
Not only are they an awful company, but they make terrible magazines too.
they make some......interesting M1A/M14 stocks though

I've heard bad things about them too, like they don't fit half the time because they're warped so badly.

*except M1 Carbiines. Thems scary assault guns too
I am really new to the firearms building and I wanted to build an M16A4 style AR 15. Don't have the money for it now of course and I am not sure what parts I should have on my list for when I ever decide to go for it. Here is what I found so far on another person's build:
BCM Standard 20" Government Profile Upper
BCM BCG
Doublestar Lower Receiver w Colt Interntals
KAC M5 RAS w Rail Covers and Vertical Grip
MaTech BUIS
Thoughts? I am not going to do any of this any time soon though. I was just curious. Also, it seems Bravo Company is out of stock for all their stuff. I guess that is part of the panic?

everyone is out of stock of everything right now and will be until after the panic buying is done
We got a single box of .223 ammo in at work today. I was going to buy it, for $19.97, and then sell it back for $35 to someone desperate enough for it.
However, the guy working after me refused to run the register. What a cool guy
Probably the only .223 within 400 miles of my town for sale.

Get that lower ASAP. That should be your first thing on the list. I partially built two Doublestar lowers tonight.

Where did you get yours? How much? What does a lower receiver without internals need to complete it anyways?

That's why we need a number of states to get on board to tell Fred to step off.
Write your representatives about it, I mean really write with pen and paper, it will be read. If you just send an email, it gets acknowledged and that's it, but an actual letter gets read every time.
I own a brass frame cap and ball revolver, but black powder is hard to come by here in NY. But when I have it, it's a blast to shoot. I'm looking to buy either a Marlin 1895 or a coach gun (most likely a Stoeger).

Black powder? Hard to come by?
What an odd statement, why do you say that?

I'm just saying it's like here you can walk into WalMart and buy a tin of it for like a couple of bucks.

Black powder sticks and pellets for modern muzzleloaders are more common than loose powder, he's probably having a hard time finding loose powder.

Not at my Wal-Mart, certainly not at Dick's Sporting Goods either. Maybe it's because I live near Buffalo, which has stricter gun laws.

Have you checked any of the proper gun stores in Buffalo? I know there's around 3 of them, they attract a lot of Tourists from Canada so I hear about them a lot up here.

I know I can purchase a substitute online, but real black powder requires a special license to buy and distribute. I just love the smell and smoke black powder gives off.

Wait where is this? I've got all kinds of black powder that I just bought in town.
Loose powder mostly, and I don't think any of it's a substitute.
I think he said he lived in "Home of the shoulder thing goes up"
