Wait what do you mean substitute? I mean, what? I am genuinely confuzzled.
You've never heard of black powder substitutes? IIRC, they function the same in a firearm, but are a far more stable compound.

Oh, you talkin like Hodgdons? Like Pyrodex? Ok, my brain exploded and I only just put the pieces back together.
Classic Firearms just put up Semi-Auto Thompsons for $1100: Classic Firearms
So I'm buying this gun at auction, and my local FFL wants a bill of sale. I'm thinking about just talking to someone else cause this guy seems kind of like a prick.

Shame it's so expensive. Probably because of the panic-buys, hope it will go down.
And I can't be the only one who things that a long-barrel on a Chicago-Typewriter design looks cool.
I prefer the M1A1. They just seem to be built more sturdier.

I do too, but it would have to be registered SBR, which I can't get here.
BP rant time.
Fred reclassified BP as an explosive, in other words to ship it you need a hazmat license and then you customers pay the $25 fee for hazmat shipping, so one pound of BP now costs more than $50. What this did was single handedly kill the market for BP because:
1. Retailers couldn't make any money off it so everyone quit stocking it.
2. People couldn't afford BP off the shelf anymore.
However, smokeless powder and Ersatz powder (Ersatz being a 'substitute' of lower quality then the real deal, aka Pyrodex) are still classified as propellants. Smokeless powder in a BP gun causes the barrel to peel like a banana, starting from the breech where your face is. Pyrodex is more expensive than BP, it's slower burning, just as dirty and has a lower ignition temperature. Having a low ignition temperature means it WILL NOT work in Flintlocks or Wheellocks, and I refuse to pay money to try it in my Matchlocks.
It will work in percussion guns though. Course you're still using a slow burning powder that's just as dirty as real BP and it costs more so you're not getting any advantages by using it.
Only way to get BP now is to order it in bulk, because 1 pound of BP has the same $25 hazmat fee as 50 pounds of BP. Course that means you're gonna be paying $200-$500 at a time for powder. It'll last you a hell of a long time unless you shoot the big guns like I do but the initial cost is extremely prohibitive, not nearly as easy as going to Cabelas and picking up a pound for $20-25.
Well that clears a lot up, thanks Raptor.
Theres some sites that you can order in bulk for like extremely cheap in most places.

Our laws mirror the 1994 AWB. Yet my one local gunstore sells a G3 looking rifle with a PSG-1 grip.
[editline]14th January 2013[/editline]
Maybe it is a PSG-1, nice price tag of $3,500.

How's the laws in the US regarding homemade blackpowder?
It is illegal. It's also illegal to have more than 50 pounds of BP at one time.
Probably worried someone is going to try to blow up [del]Parliament[/del] Congress.
It's not illegal to make or have more than 50 pounds of fertilizer though.
BP such as the 1 pound Goex cans is made and sold as a propellant for firearms, it's the exact same stuff that was used during the Revolution, if you took an original Charleville or Bess and loaded it with modern BP I guarantee you it would fire today the same as it did more than 200 years ago. BP has just as much if not more ground to be protected by the Second Amendment than most guns and ammo and it should be reclassified as a propellant.
Classifying it as an explosive is just blatant gun control, they knew exactly what they were doing, it's no different than putting a tax on ammo and limiting the amount of ammunition you can have at any one time.

Fuck me.
Limited to seven round mags, even bans ones made before 1994, registration of all firearms. Guess I'll have to turn in my Marlin 995.

That's about how much they were before the ban.
The pistol M1 Thompson models were around $800-$900 though, but this model was always around $1,000.

Don't give em shit. If they come knocking call your Sheriff.
Unless your Sheriff is a pig that is, then there's not much you can do because he won't help you.

Stand your ground, get a lawyer/attorney, and never back down. If you must make amends, call your local NRA affiliated club.

Our sheriff did say he refuses to take anyone's weapons, but I'm not taking any chances. I'll just put my guns somewhere they won't even look for. That Marlin was father's rifle, then he passed it down to me, same with the Type 99 in which was my grandfather's.
You do have friends out there who will help defend you even if you haven't met them yet.

I have two neighbors that own firearms, one of them is a hunter and the other is a prison guard. I'm sure there is more down my street as well.

My grandfather sporterized it after the war, the AA sights are still intact as well, but sadly no dust cover.

He is an idiot. It is coming in as a transfer, he has to do a 4473 on it meaning the serial will be ran. There is no point for him to ask for a bill of sale. Go somewhere else.
I am always gonna have to chime in on .22 related shit with out reading what anyone else has posted because the Marlin 795 is one of the best .22's (Assuming you're looking for a semiauto .22 with a detachable box mag) out there. 1. It is cheaper than a 10/22, got mine for $150 nib, and it shoots amazingly well. Only down side is the magazines being nigh impossible for me to find... Oh, and if you get one, get a set of TechSights... you won't regret it.

I got it 800$ slightly used I think it might have been a police trade in or something. Only thing on it that was slightly used was an area behind where the shells get ejected had the paint worn away a bit. Got it just before the re-election price gouging started
