Switching gears for a second. Am I the only one who actually likes/loves the A2 grip for ARs and the like? All I constantly hear are people complaining about the A2 grip. I love it, it fits my hand perfectly, and it's easy to grip, kinda like a penis (I kid, I kid!). I've tried a few other grips, but nothing feels as natural to me as the A2 grip.
So I went to the shop HellSoldier bought his K98 at to take a look at one, since I've never seen one in person before. It was a little beat up, the metal was fine, but there were plenty of dents in the wood. The stock and receiver matched, the trigger guard was electro-penciled to match, and the bolt appeared to be too. The guns had no cleaning rods in them, the guy at the shop told me apparently the Russians melted the rods and accessories down, which to me makes no sense. The gun was a byf 41 make, and surprisingly it still had the Waffenamts on it. I want the gun, but I don't want to spend the cash. $625 is a really reasonable price, but given that 8mm Mauser runs over a buck a shot here, with the only surplus I can find being ~$700/900 rounds, not to mention I kinda don't really have room for it, and I'd want to shoot it often, I just don't want to drop $1400 on the gun and ammo to be able to shoot it. HellSoldier, you got a beautiful gun, I hope you can afford to keep shooting it. You may want to look into reloading, would probably help you save money on your .308 too. They had a couple of Polish TT-33s there as well, Factory 11 marked, '50s production. The guns were in un-issued condition, they were still black as night on the finish. HellSoldier, if you're looking for a good, cheap first pistol, get either one of those Polish ones or one of their Russian TT-33s, because I know they have them too. $220 for the Polish, $180 for the Russian, and a crate of ammo is $300-$350/2280 rounds if you know where to look. The Russian ones come with a holster, a cleaning rod, and sometimes a lanyard, not sure on the Polish ones, and both come with only 1 mag. The unfortunate thing is nowadays retailers are splitting up the spare mag from the deal, because they're supposed to come with a second mag, and they're charging another $30 for the magazine.

Go somewhere else.
Yea luckily I found someone who wasn't a prick and got it all sorted out.
Where did you get yours? How much? What does a lower receiver without internals need to complete it anyways?
I work in a gun shop, so I got a deal when we had about 20 of them and right before shit hit the fan. I got a bunch of them, not going to say how many :v:. But, you need a lower parts kit, buffer tube kit, and an end plate.

I don't know how often I'll shoot the K98. It means quite in terms of historical value (collectors probably find it worthless but I don't) and I want to keep the gun intact. It will definitely see the range but it won't see it frequently. In that case I think I can afford to buy some newly manufactured ammunition for the firearm but I'm still considering getting surplus. The guns they got in are freaking amazing. I'll make sure to get a family photo once everything gets in order. I'll make a montage of that one particular K98. I think its story is pretty special. Being made in 1939 it still has extremely precise stamping and detail. The wood could be better but almost everything is in solid cosmoline-caked condition. what is 'byf' :x
Woo, after 4. fucking. months. of my RPK being at the gunsmith, I can finally pick it up tomorrow! Now I can finally do a proper family photo.
Does Canada have any rules against certain 22's? Like cosmetically? Since I know anything that looks like an AK is banned, cept that CZ.

Mine's a "dot" meaning it was made in Czechoslovakia, in 1944. You can tell the machining and tolerances were getting rough nearer the end of the war. I don't mind them either, but I do prefer the ones I have (I'm sorry, I don't remember which style it is, otherwise I'd tell you... :/). But then, I've also been told I'm weird for not liking Glock's grips and other things, so my opinion might be as 'wrong' as yours on what feels right.

American/Canadian gun laws will never cease to amaze/confuse me.
Does Canada have any rules against certain 22's? Like cosmetically? Unless the .22 is of minimal length then it is available to the average gun owner.
I have all these AR lowers, but no buffer tubes. God dommit.
I have all these AR lowers, but no buffer tubes. God dommit.
Which is why you should give me one, or two...
My parents have decided that if the AWB is passed, they are going to get either a .338 Lapua or a .50 BMG. They will probably get one of the bolt action single shot .50's if they decide to go that route.

AR-50 all the way. Used to own one and I loved it, but gat dayum, wouldn't fit in the small safe I had so I sold it.
Which is why you should give me one, or two...
I would, but I like these babies. Sorry mate

Basically, if it's .22 and looks like an AK, it's probably banned, if looks like an AR, or is advertised as being a .22 AR, it's probably restricted.
Holy fucking shit... They really are going to do it... http://www.politico.com/story/2013/01/biden-guns-executive-actions-86187.html?hp=t1_3
high-capacity magazine clips
"shit what were they called again ah screw it I'll just write down both"
What the hell would 7 and 8 even do?
The fun part of that is that it means that they know an AWB wouldn't pass so they figure "hey fuck it let's just skip that shit and get right to it". I wonder what it is they're planning on doing though, because an executive order can only strengthen current laws, not add new ones. [editline]14th January 2013[/editline] ahahaha holy shit get a load of this guy
#8 is buttfucking retarded. Online sales of ammunition would be easier to track than ones done in a store. If militiaman Mike goes into a store and buys 500 rounds of tulammo for his booshmasturrr, you don't know where it goes after that. If he buys 500 rounds online, you know the exact address it went too.
Unique identifying stamp on all bullets fired by a gun.
what? Just, what?
Require immediate reporting of stolen guns.
Uh..okay. Because so many people are like, "Well shit my gun was stolen. Oh well." How? You can't enforce that. Who's to say your gun wasn't stolen 2 months ago and you're just now reporting it?

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/01/biden-guns-executive-actions-86187.html?hp=t1_3
I won't believe Biden's smack talking until Obama says himself he plans another AWB. From what that article says any EO's will just strengthen current (and sensible) laws that are already in place, not ban any "assault weapons"

Honest question- if this somehow took an absolute turn for the worst, would an impeachment even be possible if enough people pushed for it?
