There are no records for this gun being transferred to me. My grandpa bought it for my mom in the 80's, its been in his house since then, we just got it in the house last week and she gave it to me.
It's a .22. Not much defense I can do, but I've got 675 rounds of ammo at least.

I use a PVC tube for the same thing with a Mossberg 702, few loaded magazines, and a case of ammo

Nonsense. A good .22lr, if you know how to use it, is more than enough of a defense! Go shoot it at the range regularly, and learn to take careful aim and it's more than enough for personal/home defense.
