EDIT:
Restrictions didn't come about because of that incident, they were already in place. I was just poking fun at the UK's silly gun laws.
Lego guns weren't why I came here though. I came here to share an interest in older firearms.

Single shot .35 concealable gun, made by one of the early inventors of the precursor to the Minié ball, Henri-Gustave Delvigne.
He also produced this pair for "muff concealment":

At some point in my life I'd like to collect things like this.
So after 5 minutes in google, I learned I can piece together an AR like Legos?
I will make my A1 build, just like that rifle I posted!
This took roughly one afternoon to piece together and it's fucking amazing. It's an Airforce Colt 604 reproduction. Uses a Nodak Spud M16A1 receiver (in black to match the "built from parts" look of most late model Colt 604's), a Colt 604 upper and barrel, original Colt 604 furniture and Bushmaster everything else.
I highly recommend Nodak Spud for retro AR builds.
That AR is so retro it should be in 8 bit, thats awesome.

I think if I were female I wouldn't want a pair of firearms concealed in my muff

Jesus dude tell me exactly what that cost you and what tools you need
That's like exactly what I want

Same here, give us a list of parts and what tools you used, we're drooling over that thing.

Seems like a pretty smart place to keep them to me, always within reach.
Looks like an old colt SP1.

Didn't require any tools besides a set of brass punches and a small hammer. If you need to fit the barrel to the upper receiver then you'll need a vice (maybe not, but it'll be hard to do it without one) and a barrel wrench, and those are a dime a dozen. You won't need to do that if you get a complete upper though. Try to find one of the 16A1 uppers that came into the US as parts kits, or one of the Colt 604 uppers I used to make mine.
My upper came headspaced and everything, so I didn't need to do much of anything. Building it amounted to just following a guide I found on AR15.com on which pins and springs go where.
I think it cost me around $700 to maybe $750 but idk. I'm sure it would sell for double to triple that now though, haha.
And oh lord, parts list, lets see if I can remember.
Nodak Spud 16A1 stripped lower Receiver
Bushmaster Lower Parts Kit
Colt 604 Upper Receiver with included Colt barrel group
Bushmaster AR-15 Bolt Group
Random buffer tube, buffer assembly, and charging handle from gun shows
Colt Type D solid buttstock, early model with no trap door
Triangular handguard set
M16A1 grip
I could give estimates on what I think the prices were but this was two or three years ago and I can't really remember. Most of this stuff came from Gunbroker.
Figured I would share this with you guys: http://e-sarcoinc.com/ar15m16magorlite30round.aspx?utm_source=New+Items+January+2013&utm_campaign=Thanksgiving+2012+Email&utm_medium=email
I can't speak for them, other than they are in stock.
But I could potentionally do that all in my dorm?
I'm pretty pumped. All though the price of 5.56 is throwing me off
Get that lower and go from there. That should be your first part to buy JUST IN CASE a ban happens.
Kman, can you get any SPR uppers? Would prefer a 6.8, but would take a 5.56.
Sure can't right now...

My dad has two of those and they work great. 10/10 would recommend.

Shit but I don't like effort and this is sounding like effort
[editline]16th January 2013[/editline]
Fuck well I plan on building that M16A1 eventually anyway
Guess ill try and find that lower!
Shit but I don't like effort and this is sounding like effort
Honestly the most effort required was finding the parts.
It literally took me maybe half an hour to an hour to have a functioning AR once I came home with the final part.
When I'm buying parts, are we talking like unassembled firing pin and trigger assembly?
Also how does putting the barrel on work? I know many guns use presses but the AR doesn't?
[editline]16th January 2013[/editline]
I'm not really educated on how AR's work as I never really gave a thought to getting one
You could assemble the lower pretty easily. It's very basic.

if you buy a pre-built upper you can just slap it onto the lower and you'll be good to go I think.
I'm guessing receivers have to be shipped to an FFL?
Lowers do, uppers don't. The lower is the only part that is considered a firearm.
Yep, unless you buy it through a private sale.
rofl I'm shipping gun parts to my dorm
Oh well I've shipped m1 carbine mags here before
Be careful, I've had my RA "accidentally" open my mail before.
Seriously, fuck dorms. So glad I'm not living there anymore.
I don't think anyone here would even know what they're looking at
Plus I'm not keeping my guns here, just shipping parts
[editline]16th January 2013[/editline]
Yeah I'm pretty pumped to move into an apartment in fall
Nearly all dorms in the whole country of Canada will have you expelled from university and arrested if they find you with anything gun-related in the room. Makes me glad my school's only an hour's commute by transit so I can still live at home.
