mill out the fire control group, drill the hole for the trigger pin, hammer pin, and selector switch, and cut the slot for the trigger
jigs cost around $100 and thanks to those you can do the entire thing with just a drill press
Whaaaaat?
I have a mill and a drill press. Why have I not done this sooner?
I need some fucking 80% parts last month!

well they cost about the same as a complete firearm, the advantage is that it's legal and unregistered and you don't have to go through an FFL

-snip- Oh nevermind you meant the jig, I spaced that for a second.
I figured it wouldn't be cheap, but I was more talking about the simplicity in finishing the 80% lowers. I thought there was more to it than that, but now that I think about it it makes sense. I'm wondering if I know how to mill well enough to actually finish one without the jig. I doubt it, but a man can dream.
Question: Could I use a modern AR-15 receiver and build retro around it? Or are parts incompatible/updated to the point where I would be missing things or would have extra parts?
I mean, hell, what's the bloody difference between the A1 and A2? Because I'm seeing A2 receivers a-plenty.

Fair point, but I think fighter-bombers and drones with Hellfire missiles are a little different

Really the only difference outside of cosmetic/ergonomic stuff is the changing on the flash hider to bird cage style from 3 pronged and chrome lining the bore.
Where you see the biggest change in the whole rifles life is going from the XM15 to M16, with the XM15 having no brass deflector as well as other things.

The bird cage flash hider was added to the M16A1, the XM16E1 and all earlier models were the one with three pronged flash hiders. Same with the chrome lined barrel.
On the A1 the sight system is different. On the A2 it has more controls for adjusting windage and elevation, plus a much larger aperture for closer range, the A1 just has windage adjustment and two flip-up aperture sights.
The A1 upper receiver does not have a shell deflector behind the ejection port, the A2 does. Earlier models don't have forward assists and thus their bolts don't have the ridges on the sides (Though some, like the Airforce's Colt 604, had uppers with no forward assists, yet used later bolts with forward assist ridges, due to the Colt 604 being built from parts). Bolts were also in the white early on but they started putting a finish on them to avoid reflections.
The A2 lower has some added metal near the buffer tube and below the front mounting pin.
The earliest model used by the military, the Colt 601, had brownish-red furniture, then green furniture.
There were also a few other minor changes, like early magazines had a "waffle" pattern stamped into them, and the charging handles of the Colt 601 were shaped like a triangle, but these were just minor changes.

My order of 250 .00 buck low recoil 12 gauge shells arrived. Most of them fit well into a Browning M2 ammo box.

It was on sale, far cheaper than regular shells. I've fired much larger rounds before.
Single shot 10 Ga, 3 1/2 inch shells. Hnghhh
Even for that matter, a 16-ga if you want lower recoil; just be prepared to scrounge the net for ammo, because it seems NOBODY makes it any more. But I do think my Rem 870 16-ga is my favourite gun, personally - despite not hunting anything with it.
I've got two huge flats of 16 ga shells, and I don't even own one... I'm confused.
Or just do a me and keep all your guns in your trunk
It's been working since August
Carry them on your back at all times then duh

Oh lol nodak has stopped taking orders as of 2 days ago. Time for suicide

I wish I had 16 gauge lying around, my local shop has a bolt single shot 16 gauge for 50 bucks... I'd totally obrez the shit outta it. :v:
Got an 870 and enough cash to do something to it. It's got a wooden stock and a wooden pump.

Got mine for 270 $ stock just like yours, I turned mine into this

There's a side saddle on the other side, And i used to run a knoxx recoil stock but then i found out they suck. You should be able to find tons of aftermarket parts for an 870 for cheap.

Short barrel, pistol grip, mag extension, and a door-breacher choke. "Assault weapon" the shit out of it then post a before/after comparison on Facebook to watch all the gun ban sissies piss their pants about your new "deadly, child-killing assault weapon" and listen to them tell you how bad of a person/murderer you are.
Short barrel is off the list, Illinois here.
