Nah; leaving it as is with the full 22" barrel and wooden furniture. Thing is beautiful as is!

Edit: ignore the messy-ass room. Just been one of those kind of weeks.
18 inches is still legal, do that
That's what I meant by short barrel, short but still ATF exempt.
I wish I owned some more old Soviet rifles/handguns/firearms.
I don't know why, but I'm absolutely fascinated by the history of it all. Too bad so much of it is so expensive, otherwise I'd own at least an SVD or and SVT-40 by now.
Why is it that nobody out there makes SVT-40 reproductions? I get the feeling they'd sell like goddamn candy.

Good luck getting an actual Russian SVD, I'm pretty sure they're banned from import and not many of them made it in legally in the first place.
Oh man I just remembered it's 2013, how much longer till the AK12 gets here?
ALRIGHT FACEPUNCH, HERE'S THE PLAN
We're going to collectively pool our money to make an arms manufacturer, but, you see, this will not be any normal silly-nilly arms manufacturer.
Not in the slightest.
You see, this will be an arms manufacturer that makes reproductions of awesome, rare firearms, such as (like I mentioned before) the SVT-40, and crazy things like the M1941 Johnson Rifle, the FG-42, the Gewehr-43, the STG-44 (in it's proper caliber) and other obscure, insanely collectible rifles!
I mean, think of the money that a company making fun, rare reproductions could make :v:
[editline]17th January 2013[/editline]
Like seriously why has no-one done this yet.
I'd pay some serious cash for an American SVT-40 reproduction.
If we make STG-44 repros they need to be in 5.45x39 or 7.62x39. 7.92 kurz isn't cheap or plentiful.
I wonder if someone makes SVT-40 stocks for SKS'
CNN.com ~1 week ago: "Majority of Americans support gun control"
CNN.com 2 days ago: "Polls show 52% of Americans support gun control"
CNN.com today: "Gun Control: Been there, done that."
Its like I'm watching CNN slowly come to terms with reality.
Maybe tweak the gas system and get it to behave slightly less violently. I've heard of the SVT-40 ripping rims off, ripping case heads off and even just ripping cases in half from the violent action.
No, make two models, SVT-40 direct repro and the modified one.

Should we make an arms company? Or buy majority control in an existing company? If we do that we don't have to deal with start up cost, barriers to entry, shit like that. Though, it probably wouldn't be a big company... assuming a gun manufacturer exists outside of Freedom Group! :v: Buying an existing company would also ease the acquisition of investors, materials, Gov't permits and the like. It's much less impossible if you buy an existing business is what I'm saying.
I wonder if someone makes SVT-40 stocks for SKS'
I remember seeing a SKS with a butchered SVT/SKT-40 stock and shroud on it.
lets buy keltec or gsg
lets buy keltec or gsg
gsg makes the 22 stg44 correct? that would be a good start
Carry them on your back at all times then duh
yeah we'll take it, throw it away and design something less shitty

That... makes so much more sense.
did i ever tell you guys my friend owns a 1942 svt 40 from tula
bought it for $700
While starting a gun company would be nice, what your proposing would require a lot of initial capital. At least 500k I think

More than that.

Try 3 million.
Not really, 20k or so for a good cnc mill and drill press and stamping gear, another 3k for the raw materials, and another 2k for monthly operating costs. Once you get the appropriate paperwork done, you can expect to be ready to go for under 30k

Alright, I can contribute at the most around $120k (I'm not joking).
Anyone else? Where's Hellsoldier when you need him? :v:
I got a bag of potatoes and a Volkswagen golf, what can I do

You need to pay peoples wages to reverse engineer the guns we'd be building. Also, many of these guns use stamped parts and stamping dies are really expensive, at least 10k a set
In other news, I responded to a guy on youtube who was saying every one should join the NRA. When I said the NRA were useless and hadn't achieved anything in 20 years I had a few people who automatically assumed I must be an anti-gun person trying to trick them all or some crap
Kind of want to find an SKS before the government decides to ban them.
at what point should you stop trying to get the cosmoline out of your mosin nagant stock?
