So my Mosin Nagant is made in 1924, and I hear thats uncommon. I was also told that it was just an M91 instead of the reworked M91-30s. Can anybody lend some insight on this?
In other news, I responded to a guy on youtube who was saying every one should join the NRA. When I said the NRA were useless and hadn't achieved anything in 20 years I had a few people who automatically assumed I must be an anti-gun person trying to trick them all or some crap
I'm a member of the NRA, and I can honestly say they are over-zealous 95% of the time. However, regardless of how much they have done, their cause is true to the American people. I would also like to point out, the insurance they offer is quite amazing as well, and I feel it alone is worth the membership. My grandfather has been a member most of his life, and when my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, whatever their insurance did not pickup for the cancer treatments was picked up by the policy he had through the NRA. That included the treatments, home-health care/supplies, and hospice.
And don't think that the NRA is the only gun rights organization, we have groups like the Second Amendment Foundation, and more, plus state groups like the one in CT called the Connecticut Citizens Defense League. NRA may be the biggest, but they aren't the only ones out there fighting.
Assuming the AWB passes, haven't they said anything about stuff with non-detachable magazines? Because if they didn't, imagine some clever bastard reproducing the Remington Model 8 in 7,62x39 and slapping a 30rd fixed magazine on it, and selling it with a whole bag of stripper clips. [editline]18th January 2013[/editline] This shit right here.
Hey guys, I just got my monthly Ruger Newsletter, and something caught my eye in it. Has anyone seen any details on their new SR-556vt model?

With the amount of Democrats up for re-election in 2014, as well as a majority house on our side, it's a fat chance a ban will go through.

If in stock, Midway most likely, they haven't been gouging. Gross. eBay (just make sure you know what you are buying). I'm lazy, no links. Yes, they are legal in Georgia.

Why do so many people here use optics? Honestly I haven't found any optic that works better than my good ol' peep sights.
Am I crazy if I'm strongly considering going AR15 shopping this weekend?
Why do so many people here use optics? Honestly I haven't found any optic that works better than my good ol' peep sights.
Most people use red dots or EOTechs because you can keep both eyes open. That really is a big advantage. I own an Aimpoint, and a few other dots, but I honestly don't care too much for them (don't even use mine anymore). I've never been able to get my eyes used to being both open. I tend to defer to my irons, as it feels natural. For the do-it-yourself guys out there, I'm going to try and install my PRI gas block this weekend, but I may have an issue. I don't have an upper vice block. I know I can get the pins out of my current block without much issue, I'm not sure about removing the FSB itself though. I know they tend to be on there, but do you think with enough kroil I will be able to twist it off by holding the rifle between my knees? I managed to index a flash hider with a crush washer using this method, I'm just wondering how much tighter the FSB is going to be.

Speaking of red dots and eotechs and stuff, anyone know of any good Eotech knock offs that don't cost 500$ that I can use on a .223 rifle?
If I were going with something to make my 10/22 shoot fast, it would definitely be an Akins. Pricey, but a quality product. Sadly, Bushnell's contract with EOTech ran out and they didn't renew it. You would have to find somebody selling one to get it. I personally don't know of any others out there. Pistol sights and scopes are unusable for me with one eye closed.

Pistol sights and scopes are unusable for me with one eye closed.
It depends on eye dominance. I am HEAVILY right eye dominate, and if I leave my left eye open, iron sights become heavily out of focus for me. If a person is strongly dominate in one eye, they will always be more precise when closing the non-dominate eye. Red dots remove this problem for people with a strong eye dominance. When using the dot it should remain out of focus to your eyes, while you focus on the target with both eyes.

Curious on what handguns are good at 300$ or less. Nothing too specific, just for use at target range.
