Sounds good to me then. I can get a big discount on them, considering I work in a gun shop. I'm really considering getting one.
It's a serious problem, thinking they'll appease the Gods in parliament by sacrificing another group of shooters. The only way guns laws turn around is if we stick together and make ourselves heard. So many Australia shooters have the mentality that they can;t do anything to fix the gun laws.
10% of Australians own guns, if 10% of your voters make a fuss, they're going to listen
"Hurr, big scary black gun! Gotta ban it!"
A big entry fee discriminates against poor people
It's been the same around here, too many people are content to sit on the defensive and just hope the laws don't get worse, they're too afraid to stand up and demand they get better. The good thing is that more and more people, even ones without guns, now are realizing that the gun laws are stupid. There's a bit less division in shooters, but you still get some idiots who think "hurr more bans make people safer but my duck gun is an angel, not like your handgun which is the devil incarnate and kills people just by existing" The problem is the media gives too much air time to the ban idiots, and what air time they give to the gun rights advocates they do everything in their power to spin in a negative light, such as asking loaded questions or cutting them short in a debate.

Yea.
In Australia, "Gun Control Australia" gets a ridiculous amount of airtime. It only has 2 members, 2 very loud and moronic members, while we have 250,000 members of the SSAA, and never get any airtime.
I'm worried that the SSAA is the defensive type, not doing anything out of fear of a backlash
[editline]8th October 2012[/editline]
I'm just looking it up now. The leader of GCA, a guy named "John Crook" was found guilty of Libel against the SSAA and was forced to pay damages when he called the "Violent and extremist"
Yea.

Up here the CFGC gets no airtime, but all the idiot politicians who agree with them do. The only time the actual Coalition for Gun Control gets airtime is in political debates, and all they do is spout emotion nonsense and lies. They try to imply, but never directly say, that gun owners are all violent wifebeaters with how much they focus on spousal homicide, which only accounts for 86 deaths annually of either gender, and only 23% of those against women are with a gun, but they act like every one of Canada's 4 million gun owners will actively beat their wives without a registration system in place, and that the registry and Authorization to Transport orders for handguns are all that are keeping gun owners from selling their guns on the black market or killing everyone they see. It's really disgusting how intolerant and stupid these people are, and it's atrocious how many ignorant people believe this kind of crap, especially when those ignorant/intolerant people are the ones issuing the permits, and actively try to fight against gun ownership.
I remember seeing a quote from the Aussie COGC, that said something to the effect of, "Gun owners are generally less intelligent people, they were never good at school or sports, and use guns as a way to get power they never had." Those are the kinds of idiots with power there, and that was the most slanderous statement I'd ever heard. I sure hope a pro-gun organization sued them over that, and if they haven't yet, and that quote is still on their website somewhere, they should. The sad thing is, the Canadian CFGC isn't much better, because they all think this, but they just don't say it publicly because they know it'll get them sued. There's actually one politician from Toronto City Council, Adam Vaughan, who is one of the most intolerant, ignorant, narrow-minded, and stupid gun control fanatics in the country, and with some of the shit he's said I'm actually surprised he hasn't been sued for slander yet. If I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd probably do it myself, as well as launch several other lawsuits about things.

Yea, I was just looking at that, seems the SSAA sued them for that as well, nice to see, but I think they needed to sue them into the ground

I just looked up Adam Vaughan, he wanted to ban fucking bullets. How stupid is that?

It's just like the Brady Campaign and the other various anti gun groups in the U.S.
In reality support of gun control is decreasing year by year, and yet they are screaming their heads off at the NRA and the SAF about how they're baby murderers.
If you watch very closely, almost if not all of their campaign methods showing a room of children and going "If you support the NRA you support the deaths of these kids!" like their high capacity assault clips crusade.

The most ironic statements he's made are when he said "We need to stop listening to emotional arguments and listen to facts." and then proceeded to make an emotional argument for the banning of bullets/guns, and when someone mentioned that you shouldn't be raising a family of kids downtown in a debate about forcing a condo to offer 3 bedroom units he said "You can't just start banning things." He's a fucking idiot, I'm honestly waiting for him to literally call all gun owners something to the effect of "violent sociopaths" so he can be sued out of office for his stupidity.
Sooner or later people are going to realize that 93% of gun crimes are committed with illegally obtained firearms.
or we continue to live in fear like barbarians

Fucking crazy
I was just taking a look at your gun laws, they are a mess. So many exemptions, so many things banned by name rather than function, banning of bull pup rifles (except the FN-P90 for some reason, bit weird), I don't really know what to say
[editline]8th October 2012[/editline]
I'm rather fond of New Zealands firearms laws. The only thing I don;t like is that they have a cap on the number of semi-auto centrefire licences they've handed out

The bullpup ban is dumb, basically if the rifle was designed as a bullpup it's fine, but if it wasn't then no. Except they banned the Walther G22, which was designed as a bullpup, because it was a bullpup, but not the FS2000, PS90, or Tavor TAR-21.
Also, in a debate about guns, the Attorney General for Ontario, when someone mentioned personal freedoms and liberty, said "Freedoms and liberties are an American thing," (Calling something in Canada "American" is usually an insult) as if trying to downplay the fucking CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS. Hes an idiot lawyer appointed by the Premier into a position that isn't elected, where he, if I'm not mistaken, sorta watches over the legal proceedings in the province, and he's against gun ownership (Gee, I wonder why so many bullshit cases about guns are allowed to proceed in Ontario court) and he basically shat all over the most important part of our constitution. Any politician, and especially any bureaucrat like this fuckwad, who is so willing to shit all over our constitution like that should be kicked the fuck out of office.
if canada fixes their gun laws i'd move there in a heartbeat
same with australia
or really any place other than america we suck except for the gun laws
well even they suck but they treat me well because i'm wealthy and white
What's his name?

I don't get why people think this, those gun laws people consider great only apply to people born in switzerland and then iirc once they're out of the military those automatic weapons they were issued are converted to regular old semi-autos

all we gotta do is get rid of the two party system and make lobbying illegal and we'll be golden

I know that. But their gun laws are still the most rational out of all other countries. It's a blatant fact that if people grew up with firearm safety and were educated about them instead of growing up in the "guns are bad m'kay" culture we have, we wouldn't be having these kind of debates.
What's his name?
John Gerretsen.
Here's the video where he said it:
http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/1743675980001
"Well first of all it's a matter of our civil liberties and freedoms, doesn't that count for something?"-Announcer
"Well that sounds like very much like an American notion..."-Gerretsen
Sun fucking ripped him a new one over the next week about that statement.
Back when I was in high school I used to get sent to the office all the time for doodling soldiers and guns because the teachers thought I was a "terrorist" and were "worried that I was going to shoot up the school" and our police liezon would put his hand on his sidearm every time I walked by after I asked him about his P226 one time.
When shit like that happens it shows there's a serious problem with people's mindset
shit automerge

In 2010 over 90% of the Brady Campaign's funding came from two donors who are on their board of directors. And they recently fired their CEO with a long history in politics and replaced him with one familiar with marketing.

"regular" semi-autos. No complaints from me, that's better than what I have
A lot of things here are nice, except the "hurr banning things will fix the problem" mentality.
"Young" drivers can't have V8s or Turbocharged V6s because they supposedly kill people, you get fined for crossing the road at the wrong point, they ban various guns on a whim, the police refuse to approve certain firearms despite no laws against owning them (those big dangerous calibres!), they refuse to approve many new ranges, I could go on..
Yet commurnest and nazee guns are allowed here.
