I have A rifle design, but I wouldn't call it cheap, I'd put it somewhere between a Garand and a BAR in terms of how easy/cheap it is to build. If I were to design an expedient semi-auto rifle I'd start with the French RSC 1917 as a base and make it capable of using a standard NATO magazine.

Problem with a full size rifle is you're bumping up the pressures involved dramatically so you're gonna need more of the gun to be made of alloy steel than on an SMG.

Use a flat sheet of 3/16" or 1/4" 4130 then forge it around a block to get the shape and that's not a bad start for the receiver, granted you've got the fuel available to forge, normalize and temper it afterward.

Could we possibly see your design..? And yeah I could imagine going for the rifle would be a little more time consuming compared to the SMG.

Pictures are a bit old, they've since gotten new sights, the old sights were a pain to use in ArmA so I swapped em out for some more open sights.

I live in south mississippi. it's a hell of a drive but is pretty close compared to most other states
