Yeah don't use modern ammo in old guns. I FUCKING LEARNED THE HARD WAY Ex. 1: Shot modern hot .410 through a "Invincible" .410 single shot shotgun, and bloomed the end of the barrel like you see in a cartoon. Sawed off the fucked up part, and gtg next day! I run .22 shorts through my ancient .22 childs/bicycle rifles and subsonic "CB's" through an old Savage pump action gallery gun. Lesson learned, play it safe.
I recently acquired a 22 rifle from the 30s. What would you recommend I put through it?
I don't think he wants to spend as much as the gun on 20 rounds of ammo.
Might really be worth it to him if it's an heirloom or something [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline]
Yeah, you'd be right on that one, considerin thats a paycheck for me. I appreciate the info nonetheless. Any clue what it might be worth?
Or not..
Swiss Vetterli rifle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vetterli_rifle Chances are it's in .41 Swiss Rimfire, so basically it's unfireable because you'll never find ammo.
ammo-one has some in stock, but it's like $14 a round so you better get reloading if you ever pick one of those up
Yeah, you'd be right on that one, considerin thats a paycheck for me. I appreciate the info nonetheless. Any clue what it might be worth?
They're worth about $300-$500
Might really be worth it to him if it's an heirloom or something [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline] Or not..
I did mention I saw it in a local sporting goods store :/. I'm not the type of guy to sell off an heirloom, especially one thats a firearm. But the fact that A. Ammo will be nonexistant, and B. I'm not living in a place where collecting is really an option(a dorm room on a military base). It's a cool little gun, by all means, but the timing just isnt there. [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline]
They're worth about $300-$500
Oh wow, so it's pretty damned overpriced there then. Welp, that's the end of that story I suppose.
I recently acquired a 22 rifle from the 30s. What would you recommend I put through it?
Depends on the rifle, if its chambered in .22LR, I'd use CCI CB Longs or even better is CCI Quiet-22.
ammo-one has some in stock, but it's like $14 a round so you better get reloading if you ever pick one of those up
>Rimfire >Reloading Yeah, about that...
They're worth about $300-$500
depends on the year and make, $700 would be about right if it's one of the ones that got rechambered for 6.5 carcano for WWI [editline]21st January 2013[/editline]
>Rimfire >Reloading Yeah, about that...
by reloading I mean get a brass press and start manufacturing
I recently acquired a 22 rifle from the 30s. What would you recommend I put through it?
Bolt, Semi, Pump what is it? If it's a bolt or you don't mind loading a single shot. These: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2506295321/aguila-super-colibri-ammunition-22-long-rifle-20-grain-lead-solid-point have no powder so there is no chance they'd be too hot, plus, they are easily the quietest round I have ever heard, suppressed or otherwise.

It says on the box for the Aguila to NOT FIRE IN A RIFLE. I agree, I have Many, MANY squibs from those. The CCI Quiet-22's are 3 bucks a box (50?). They are much safer, and I have had ZERO problems with them. Don't trust the Aguila. If you do decide to try them, if you shoot and don't hear an impact, check your bore before you even fire another round...
I recently acquired a 22 rifle from the 30s. What would you recommend I put through it?
What model .22 is it? I have a Savage Model 6a from the late 30's, it feeds most .22lr ammo perfectly fine except the cheap Thunderbolt shit. I'll be able to test ammo once it warms back up, can't wait to try out the new Henry Survival Rifle I bought before my state went batshit.
Any good? http://www.cabelas.ca/product/19200/sks-semi-auto-rifle-w-laminate-stock-russian-1945?productVariantId=66530

Someone was looking for .303? http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=AP303SP180
is that really the best deal you'll find on 303?
Dunno if it's the best deal, but it's in stock. POSP 4x scope w/PSL mount - $115
is that really the best deal you'll find on 303?
Trust me. As an owner of 2 Lee Enfields, $13/box is as good as it gets. Unless your local shop suddenly out of nowhere has a giant box of surplus for $0.25/ea. [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline] But then you shoot it all in a day and you're sad again and don't really appreciate the killer deal :C
Dunno if it's the best deal, but it's in stock. POSP 4x scope w/PSL mount - $115
Is that site price gouging at all? They have Romanian AK drums on there that don't open up at the back like the Chinese ones do. They're 200$ though, and that seems pricey.
Interdasting. Canada legal SVD: http://interammo.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=32_33&products_id=75

They have a Tritium insert for a glowing reticle, but they are always burned out. You can find them for 50-100 bucks. They are nice for a cheap AK or SKS with Molot rail.

Unless I'm missing something.
... Why in the name of Murdercube am I interested in that...? It looks so nice for some reason.

it looks retarded imo
