M38's are really nice as long as the rifling is still there. Next time you take it out of it's stock, search the underside for an import mark, it should look something like this
will do, thanks [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline]
I know the feelin, I've given up on looking for a private seller for a tokarev.
They are really neat and distinctly soviet looking. No idea why my laptop decided I want to type Type 99 at the top, probably my fidgety hands. It's like 18 degrees outside and I'm on my balcony.
What the fuck am I doing going after sobotnik in SH. It's a terrible idea and I already know how it's going to end but holy shit the bias he threw into the article just set me off. (Not to mention it's my home state damnit)
Sobotnik is a strange person, don't bother trying to comprehend it. Claims to be against assault weapons ban but defends it. Oh and, we're all intending to shoot atleast 1 person in our lifetimes.
im pumped for my first kill, probs drink their blood
I wonder if there are any privately owned De Lisle Carbines in the world, they're pretty neat apparently there are. I want one
You don't really need a reason for owning a Tokarev. They're just cool old pieces of soviet engineering.
Do you have a defense weapon or is this your first one?
Do you have a defense weapon or is this your first one?
I've got a sig p225 with 2 mags set aside with Home D rounds in them, and I got my SG556 with 2 30 round mags set aside for home D. Plus you don't really need to purchase firearms based around home defense. Hobby shooting isn't about practicality.

A first weapon should be home defense as everyone needs one for home defense. After that, go crazy. My Tokarev is great, front sight wobbles back and fourth though and the ammo is godawful expensive.
So I take it AK or AR mag's are expensive as fuck now no matter where you go?
You can find them at normal prices on occasion but they sell out so ridiculously fast you'd be lucky to get any.
Any suggestions on where to look? In the market for 20rd mag's for both. (Yes 20rd, I am from Maryland.)
Why a Tokarev? You could get a much better weapon for the same price or a little more. Unless you have a reason for the Tokarev?
I am 18 without a job so I am looking for a cheap pistol that I can open carry and keep in my car for self defense because I live in a sketchy area. I am open to suggestion, but 250-300 is really the highest I am willing to go. I love eastern block weapons as well. I'm thinking about getting a makarov as well. Of course, a few months down the road and I'll probably have a Glock of some sort, if things go well. So it's cheap but temporary. Oh, and from what I've heard, 7.62x25mm outdoes pretty much any low-tier pistol round. Higher penetration, muzzle velocity, and energy.

That's surprising actually. You can legally carry at 18 where you are?? [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline]
Unfortunately, I'm not sure. If you google around (I did really quickly) there's actually quite a few places that have 20 round AR mags listed for <$20 but they're all on backorder or out of stock. What about AK?
In Virginia, where I live, I can purchase a handgun at 18 as long as it is private sale (or it is gifted to me by a relative). Law also has no age restriction on open carry, because it merely states you have to be 18 to open carry a firearm. I confirmed it with the police department, and since then, my friend and I have been open carrying to places. Nobody really cares or notices here.

Requires registration of the suppressor and I believe also requires registration as a short barrel rifle. I don't know how many original ones exist, if any, though.
CZ-82
If they made a 9mm version I would be more than open to that suggestion. Ever seen anything like a conversion kit for them?

Whats a good sub-$220 target shooting rifle besides Mosins? I would like something that has a bit more oomph than a .22LR(my current choice since it is the only gun that is actually mine. And cheap rounds :v:) but not enough to hurt. Enjoyable shooting is what I want

I have to move out of People's Republic of Maryland. Either way, a Tokarev is no carry weapon... Save a bit more and get a KelTec, Ruger or Glock. You need another 100-150 for any of those. And for the ammo you won't have to pawn your left nut out either.
I can recommend the Marlin XT-22MR/XT-22MTR. .22 WMR isn't a huge step up but it's wonderfully accurate, cheap and .22WMR is a fun round.
I'll look at it then. Recoil isn't a huge issue, but I don't want sore shoulders all the time

Too bad harper pretty much said no to getting rid of the firearms ban list so no AK-type guns.
Thats the great thing about Canada, you can get Russian firearms imported from Russia. Too bad harper pretty much said no to getting rid of the firearms ban list so no AK-type guns.
I know, but what else do you expect him to say on "Let's dance on the graves of the École Polytechnique Massacre victims" day when the anti-gun assholes deliberately planned, since July, a deliberate attack on gun rights for that day based off of committee recommendations made to Harper by the Firearms Advisory Committee? I hope he can at least unban short-barrelled pistols, I want a Makarov, a PPK, and snubnose, and I know if Makarovs were legal we'd be importing Russian surplus of them by the droves, and they'd probably be as cheap as TT-33s, and come with all the same accessories.

It is still a federal offense to sell a firearm to anyone under the age of twenty-one, regardless of private or wholesale. You may be gifted, or willed, yes; but that's the only lawful way for anyone under 21 to possess a sidearm. As for the open carry, this is true too. I personally open carry on occasion my Dad's Ruger SR40 and am also below 21. (From Virginia, as well. Don't know what part you're from.) BE CAREFUL though. Any business still reserves the right to refuse service and forcibly remove you from their premise for openly carrying (or lawfully concealed, for that matter) in VA, and some may do so. Also, local statues and codes dictate which buildings you may or may not carry into, as well. All federal buildings and schools (duh...) are void of any type of carry by any non-military/LEO for any reason, and several public areas may be as well. (Salem, for instance, reserves the right to restrict open carry along down-town streets during holidays, and they occasionally do so.

Carrying when under 21 is a felony and will get your guns taken away for life, so enjoy that risk and consequence when you get busted. Yes it's bullshit but deal with it for another 3 years. The drinking age is bullshit too.
I was talking about handguns, specifically with the purchasing under 21, not long-rifles, shotguns, and really, anything else. Also, no; possession is not a felony, however selling to a 'minor' is.
In Michigan private handgun purchase and open carry are both legal at 18 [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline] I can go down to my local police station right now, fill out the form, get my purchase permit and buy a handgun from a private individual and I am under 21. If it were unlawful for someone to sell me that handgun then why it it be lawful for me to receive the purchase permit?
