Went down to the range today and ran into a group of mossy oak dinguses with AK-47s and no trigger discipline / muzzle control. Damnit, Maryland. This is why we can't have nice things.
I also realized that I am a little rusty on my marksmanship and couldn't get a tight grouping for shit. Going to have to get more practice in.
Oh, and the king of the dinguses (he had bakelite magazines and a mossy oak bag of tacticool accessories, as well as an inability to pay attention to where he was pointing his muzzle [The guy who was next to me noticed it first and politely told him to quit being a dipshit]) decided to rock out in full auto right under the "No automatic weapons, 1 round per second on everything else" sign.
What's a mossy oak dingus?
Another interesting anecdote: King Dingus was putting on his tacticool basspro reflex sight and in the process managed to sweep over literally every single person on the firing line. His ass was promptly chewed.
Yeah i cringe whenever people throw their muzzle around.

Imagine if this mated with a frat boy and had no sense of self-control or respect for the rules or other people. Also imagine he's wearing a mossy oak trucker's hat and sweat pants
I took pride in when I fired my M38 when he was waiting for everyone to finish their last few shots and trying to brag about the camouflage on his pickup truck or whatever before the range went cold and startled the ever-loving shit out of him

I've got the stock, components to make everything, and a lot of patience. Next step is to find a barrel and action.

honestly, has anyone ever been hassled or questioned on whether or not their AK's were 922r complaint or not?

no but i like being a good little boy with a compliant gun.
what is the punishment for not being 922r complaint?
what is the punishment for not being 922r complaint?
probably something that will be more of a hassle than having a few parts with U.S. stamped on them.

Ah, the Marlin 60. This is the firearm I learned to shoot on. I miss that gun, we ended up getting rid of it a looooong time ago. (My father owned it.) I would have kept it if it was my choice.
I actually have a Marlin 60 here that is broken. I kind of hope to fix it up someday.

I want to get another rifle with my tax return, torn between hunting down a good Lee-Enfield, a Garand, or just buying a newer hunting rifle
also these AIM surplus Mosin stripper clips are wildly inconsistent, only like two of them work very well

I'd avoid a lee-enfield (if you ever plan on shooting it) because ammo is stupid expensive on it. ~1$ a round typically, unless you can find a can of surplus, even then its still expensive. A garand has the same issue, but it's not as bad. Buy an M1 carbine instead
As for mosin stripper clips, don't buy chinese ones. They rarely work. Russian ones are the best, and even still they take some practice.

.303 is a definite reloading calibre, and M1 Garands need specific ammo made for them, and it's not advisable to reload for it. The Enfield is cheaper in the long run, and as long as you buy an initial 200 rounds and reload them all you can shoot it fairly regularly.
I have 2 Lee Enfields and I have to agree. They're spectacular rifles if you know what to look for, but ammo is a nightmare. Commercial .303 are almost always loaded with BT projectiles, and they don't get along with most LE's. If you reload, you're in good shape, but the surplus market is p. much gone for good.

if you got the reloading gear, then by all means. But it's a pain in the ass otherwise to get ammo, let alone pay for it.
Cheapest I've ever found is $13/20 for Prvi PPU
Which coincidentally seems to work best out of all the commercial .303 besides the outrageously expensive Hornady match loads

I have a horribly fucked up 1918 dated Enfield I got for $70 out of some fudd's garage and my dad has a 1942 No. 4 he got from Sears way back when you could get a gun from Sears. I love them both <3
922r only applies to first sale of the gun in the US. The owner can put whatever they want on it, and sell it in that form.
