I have a hard-on for Coyote Tan. True Story.
Here is a shot of it with my 226, back when it still had fixed sights:

I like that you have a matching pistol
I've actually heard alot of people from NY are planning to not register their guns. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
You know, civil disobedience and all that.
Exactly what I mentioned. They already made a ton of New Yorkers that actually use guns other than fudd rifles pissed off to hell and back, there are at least 10 different class action lawsuits going on right now.
Edit:
Speaking of pathetic: I've never actually held or shot a pistol in my life. It's a felony to even lay a finger on a pistol without owning a permit and to get one you have to jump through a year's worth of hoops just to be told no.
All I want to do is go to the range and shoot a Makarov, I'm not a criminal but the state thinks I am.
Meanwhile my cousin's husband is allowed to have anything he wants (even if it is a pistol or Assault Weapon) all because he got his military ID two days ago when he's only touched his first rifle at basic a few weeks ago and I touched mine nearly a decade ago. How is that considered fair?
Have you not heard of the shit going down in New York?
To sum it up:
Having any of the following on a semiautomatic rifle that can use external mags:
Pistol grip
Scope
Folding stock
Adjustable length stock
Foregrip (vertical and angled)
Are now illegal completely and need to be sold out of state in a year.
In addition:
All mags must be 7 rounds or less
10 rounders owned before 1/15/2013 can be pinned within a year to 7 rounds without penalty
Any >10 round mags must be handed in, sold or destroyed. No grandfathering at all.
Any AR-15 variants and Saiga/AK variants are now considered Assault weapons in any config and must be sold or handed in to police within a year.

I don't think there'll many cops actively enforcing it. Then again, I've never dealt with NY cops.
I like that you have a matching pistol
I'd really like to get a set of coyote grips for my Rail Gun that actually match the coyote on the AR and 226. These are the only coyote grips I have for my Rail Gun:

That's actually an old picture of my Rail Gun. I changed the GI trigger to a long pull solid trigger, and I'm using the regular Pachmayr grips currently. I'll try and grab a more recent pic of it.
I tossed SAF in there, but I'll leave the NRA out since they lobby more for conservatism now-a-days. NRA lost my last bit of respect for them when they said to vote for Romney, even though he was pro AWB.
I don't like the NRA anymore either, but they are the biggest name in firearms rights, so I figure I'd use a buzz acronym.

I know some people who are rolling over and getting their mags pinned to 7 rounds.
I'm not doing that yet since I have a feeling this law will repeal before it goes into effect, there is too much vocal opposition now.
I don't think there'll many cops actively enforcing it. Then again, I've never dealt with NY cops.
As long as you avoid the main cities and the inner suburbs, cops are easy to deal with.
My local Sheriff's Office told the press to fuck off recently after they wanted them to release info of all the pistol permit holders in the county. I've even heard of cops telling people to not butcher their rifles and not hand in their magazines.
This state really is a political mess. Almost everyone except New York City is pro gun and this is an example of how much power they really have over the rest of us.

"This is the Police, did you sell that AR15 you used to own?"
"Yes"
"Ok, thanks have a nice day."

Yup. Love my Sig, it's my daily carry. Not really hard to conceal either being a full-size pistol.
Here is a picture of my Rail Gun in it's current state. I still get wet looking at it. The things 1911s do to me.

Buffalo, NY?
Strange... When I lived there about 9 years ago, people on my block usually owned all sorts of weapons. Then again I grew up on the citylimit lines of Blasdell and Hamburg, so all sorts of dumb blackmarketry happened around there. :v:
If you somehow manage to skip your way through Mandan, ND, I'll be more then willing to take you out shooting with my Makarov.

Thats what I love about rural cops. When I was firing my AK with a bumpfire stock, I had the cops called on me twice. Each time they rolled up on me
"Was that you firing an automatic?"
"Yep"
"Is it legal?"
"Yep"
"Ok, have fun"
I think NYC should just become it's own country or state or something, that single city has too much power over the rest of the state.

Correct, just outside the city limits based in Cheektowaga, close enough to see the sign.
People still do, it isn't until you get past roughly Lancaster when you start to meet people who aren't emotionalist anti-gunners. If anything pro gun movement got stronger since you left, prices are increasing since then since so many people have been getting interested in guns ~2004.
Only stop I'm going to be doing is possibly Florida in May/June.

Jesus, the fact of the pro-gun movement picking up pace over there is pretty odd to me.
The only people I remember being profoundly pro-gun were most of my dad's drinking buddies, most of the people who are within shoreline distance of Cattaraugus and 18 Mile, and most of the people in West Buffalo.
And Flordia is always nice. Make sure to go Redfish fishing.
My guns match, can I play too?

Reminds me of this guy I know, he has an MG42 and was out shooting it awhile ago. Someone called the cops because they heard it going off. Sheriff rolls up and promptly goes "This thing is awesome, can I try?" :v:

The thing I find with most gun owners is that they're generally quiet people who prefer to avoid confrontation unless necessary.
So if all goes well, I'll be trading this:

for a factory-refurb all-matching '43 Izzy McNugget with all the accessories.

Up here in the rural areas of CT a friend of mine who I occasionally shoot with is part of a scout hall which a bunch of members, and often they get shoots together with 30 people or so, and on one such occasion they had something like 20 AR's never mind shotguns and pistols. So one guy decided to bump fire an AK and then they decided to blow up a pound of tannerite which is pretty freaking loud, needless to say the cops got called on them, and here, is the reason to own a gun up here. Some ten or fifteen minutes later they were eating lunch and in a quick glance my bud sees a lone cop across the field at the opposite end of the range (not the target end) he quickly informs the leader of the group and that guy walks out to meet the cop. So the cop comes over and they talk and my buddy observes that the cop has his full gear, including AR, and is also shaking. So they inform the cop they are good guys out target shooting and the cop goes back to his car, which is a short walk through the woods away, and leaves. Moral of the story is that here in my area it takes forever for staties to get here and when they do they send 1 cop. I mean they sent 1 FUCKING COP FOR "AUTOMATIC FIRE AND EXPLOSIONS"... I will continue to rely on my guns for self defense thank you very much.
TL;DR Buddy was shooting with a large group, cops got called, 15 mins later 1 showed up, nearly shit his pants when he saw the piles of AR's... Police here = slow, and far apart, won't rely on them for safety.
is that... tape?
Yes, yes it is. I had to do that so the metal didn't fall off when firing it. When I first brought it to the range, the RSO thought it was awesome. Too bad it doesn't shoot straight.
That poor police officer!

Mmmnn, that is sexy.
Will the front slide serrations scratch up the inside of a leather holster?
I wanna shoot an MG42/MG3 so bad...
I wanna shoot an MG42/MG3 so bad...
I'd settle for an MG-34. It's my goal in life to fire a MG-42 or MG-34
Either/or
Orrr
I mean, I have this extra lung I'm probably not using half the time.
who wants to buy it for $30k?
The Australian Defence Force recently destroyed their MG3s :(
So through lots of connections, I'm setting up an appointment to learn the art of the dynamic M1 Carbine with a WWII vet who dedicates his spare time to tinkering and rebuilding M1 Carbines, and he has 45-50 of them at any given time in his collection. I'm going there to learn all I can about the functionality, disassembly (complete) and reassembly, and hopefully I'll buy some original WWII mfg. parts and a stock to make my NPM M1 ready2reenact. I AM EXCITE
