Your idea is the better one, we should go with this.

My vote for this one!

Firearms VIII: FOAD CTD!
Got the stock glued and clamped, I also bought some old english to polish up the wood / remove some of the dings
how hard would it be to hand make rifle furniture? I want to keep my Mosin's stock but I think it would be neat to buy a rifle with a torn to crap stock but decent receiver / barrel and then make your own stock from scratch

Raptor makes his own stocks for the muskets he builds, I think. I'm sure he could give you some insight on the process.
(keep in mind Raptor is a damned wizard when it comes to stuff like that)

I would imagine that, at its very base, it would be taking a piece of wood and cutting it into the general shape you are going for, along with using proper dimensions to cut out the area for the receiver, trigger, barrel, etc, etc... then sanding it till it looks and feels good. Followed by varnishing or what ever you choose to do to it. That's at least my understanding of it, but raptor would know far more on this topic than most of us.
If only the British had them. The mad minute on steroids.
I was just about to post what a mad-minute (well... probably five) would be like with one of those suckers! Can you imagine a full regiment of recruits doing the drill with beta-mags?

A single youtube video gave the final breath of life needed to bring back the vision of my dream rifle. I thought reloading was a ton of work and required some very specific things.

What video?
What video?
Reasons why?
A. Brass of said size is still available/being made.
B. I didn't know they just made general sizes for actual bullets, I thought it had to be super exact(I thought that I would have to cast my own)
C. The equipment/kit he uses can be bought for ~350.
You likely wouldn't see anymore holster wear on the inside than one without front slide serrations. The serrations are cut into the slide, so it's flush. I have no way of testing it though because I use Safariland holsters.
I've got a leather Don Hume and a leather Galco holster for my 1911, which also has serrations on the front of the slide. I've not noticed any extra wear, but like Mr. Foster; I tend to use my Blackhawk CQC.

Everything cool is illegal / impossible to find :c
Even if you could get a VSS into the US, 9x39 would be real tough to find.
Even if you could get a VSS into the US, 9x39 would be real tough to find.
touché
Don't get me wrong I would absolutely love to own one of those rifles, but smuggling one in would be pointless unless you brought like 10,000 rounds of 9x39 with you, which would probably be tough.
So the trade went well, I now have a Mosin, finally.
And the threads closed
It went by rather fast, this one did.
And the threads closed
no it isn't

Wonder if there's a cartridge you could neck down. You can neck down 28 gauge shot shell brass to .577/450 for example since it's not commercially available anymore.

if they made one that would go up for sale in the US, I bet they'd chamber it in 7.62x39 or 5.45x39
or you could just neck up 7.62x39 like it's supposed to be done
All units, Irene. We have a thread down.
It's been an honor, Gentlemen.
