Alright so I want to get an AK47, What's a good brand and how much would I be looking at price wise for a nice one? I'd like to keep it around $600.
WASR, of course! [sp]kidding, don't[/sp]
Alright so I want to get an AK47, What's a good brand and how much would I be looking at price wise for a nice one? I'd like to keep it around $600.
WASR-10/63, Yugo M70, (maybe) Saiga (probably would be "hunter" version, possible to convert later though).
I've seen Radoms go for a little over $600. Should be good-to-go
We are now being shipped a Mosin Nagant Sniper Rifle (with an original scope).

century pap or amd-65 [editline]8th October 2012[/editline] pap is basically a wasr but with yugo parts instead of romanian, amd-65 is the hungarian one with a front grip that looks like a flipped rear grip
The AMD-65 would be the better choice there. They look kind of strange but they're extremely well built rifles, and relatively cheap too.
The AMD-65 would be the better choice there. They look kind of strange but they're extremely well built rifles, and relatively cheap too.
I personally would rather have a pap but amd65 is definitely up there with the best AKs
I personally would rather have a pap but amd65 is definitely up there with the best AKs
The AMD-65's are better built, and they're built correctly, unlike the Century PAPs which don't even use the correct receivers for the Yugoslavian parts they're using. Yugoslavian M70s are meant to have thicker, RPK-styled receivers with bulged trunnions. Which is what makes them so great compared to other AK's. The PAP essentially removes this, making it pretty much on par with their Romanian counterparts. AMD-65's use FEG receivers, are about a hundred bucks cheaper, and aren't built from a mishmash of random parts. I'd still rather have a Yugo, but not one built by Century Arms.
doesn't century use nodak receivers though? At least with AR-15s, my experience with nodak stuff has always been great
You could always go with a Polish Radom. Those are quite good from what I've experienced.
doesn't century use nodak receivers though? At least with AR-15s, my experience with nodak stuff has always been great
I believe their Polish AKM's run Nodak Spud receivers, but not the PAP. Even still, I'd take an original Hungarian FEG made receiver over a Nodak any day. [editline]8th October 2012[/editline] Turns out it's the NPAP rifles that don't have the bulged M70 receivers. The PAP rifles have bulged receivers but they look kind of silly with their picatinny rail dust covers. Gun show coming up. Better prepare my wallet.
finished paying off my car today just in time for the next gun show [editline]9th October 2012[/editline] still got loans to work on but this means an extra few hundred bucks a month those loans will be done with by the end of the year anyway
Looking into a Nightforce for my Barrett... My wallet hurts already.
doesn't century use nodak receivers though? At least with AR-15s, my experience with nodak stuff has always been great
They used an NDS receiver on my Bulgarian '74.
So I should get something like this? http://www.classicfirearms.com/romanian-ak-7-62-x-39 [editline]9th October 2012[/editline] Or something like this? http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/2-CARI1987-N
So I just bought a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1, loving it, Its got a 1943 body, and a 1939 bolt assembly, However I am really looking for spare parts, I do NOT want to sporterise it because that shit is disgusting to vintage firearms. I really want to find some reproduction scopes for It, but I am having a tough time finding anything, anyone know any good websites for scopes or parts I would appreciate it.
Don't get the PAP.. steer completely clear of those.
you also don't want to explain to people what you mean when you say "I got a pap"
Thanks man, anything at this point helps, looking forward to making the rifle shine!
Be prepared to pay cause enfield shit, ie scopes, ect, ain't cheap.
So do I get a WASR? All I want is a traditional AK47 that isn't going to blow up on me. [editline]9th October 2012[/editline] This? http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=GM446876
Be prepared to pay cause enfield shit, ie scopes, ect, ain't cheap.
Yeah I noticed that the ONLY reproduction scope I could find was lke 599.99$ almost twice as much as I paid for the rifle itself
well unless you try firing a 12ga shotgun shell out of a 7.62 AK platform it won't blow up on you i think for the price, not used, that WASR will probably do you fine
Alright then, I mean I really don't have a budget I just want a nice AK and if a yugo would be better for more money then I'll get that. I just want to get a nice, solid and reliable AK.
Just a little tip, any WASR or M72 shouldn't be more than $600 and even that is kinda high
So if I do buy a WASR-10 what do I need to look out for?
