Mug brought up a great point in the VZ.58... iirc they are imported by CAI but aren't built by them (Someone correct me if wrong). Either way they are my favorite of the Commbloc Semiauto rifles... only thing is that they wont take AK mags... but that's what I'd suggest.
They are built by CAI, actually. They're just one of their better built rifles. You can get VZ-58's built by CZ-USA though, which are far superior. I'm actually thinking about building a VZ-58, but I can't find any parts kits that aren't priced way the hell up there. $250 is about the cheapest I can find but they're completely disassembled for some reason. A minor inconvenience, sure, but I'd like to not have to line up the sights and all that.
VZ-58's are massively being surplussed because of them replacing it, right?
Any thoughts on the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle? Wondering if it's any good.
Is that a reversed image or a left sided bolt?
Vaun's a lefty.
There are polymer mags out there for 30$ apiece from some retailers.
Still pretty damn expensive for a 10 round mag for a bolt action. Or maybe cheap AK mags have just spoiled me.
Still pretty damn expensive for a 10 round mag for a bolt action. Or maybe cheap AK mags have just spoiled me.
Yeah, one obvious downside is that they could've engineered it to take non-propietary mags. But that's Ruger for you.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/69657/Bushmaster+CAR15+223+16+BSH+REDDOT Thoughts on this AR? I have to get it shipped with no magazine due to Maryland's stupid ass magazine capacity laws. Though I can drive 20 minutes north to Glen Rock PA and buy all the high cap mag's I want totally legal. Just want to be sure this is a good AR (Bushmaster is a great name obviously) and that I can use standard AR magazines.
Plastic lower. Wouldn't buy.
Plastic lower. Wouldn't buy.
Polymer isn't really that breakable... .223 isn't that hard hitting of a round on the gun's side. What about this then? Been thinking seriously about picking it up as of late.
it will break if you drop it though

if I was going to buy an AR right now in that price range I'd grab a loaded A2 lower and a bushmaster predator upper
That one doesn't look bad... Takes normal AR mag's I assume?
I assume so. going to a gun show at the end of the month, gonna see if I can handle one before I pull the trigger on buying one.
I assume so. going to a gun show at the end of the month, gonna see if I can handle one before I pull the trigger on buying one.
No pun intended...lol Are they common to find at gun shows?
I haven't been to a gunshow without one in a long time

You can't throw a rock at a gunshow without hitting 3 of them.
How was that done?
Maybe down south you can't, up here all the gunshows, what few of them there are, have old sporting rifles and Lee-Enfields going for about twice what they're worth. Barely a pistol, let alone an AR, in sight, you'll be lucky to find one, and that seller will be lucky not to be screamed out of the show by the angry 60-year-old Bubbas who are appalled that he owns something without wood on it.
How was that done?
The first one, it broke while the guy was shooting it (.223) The second one, popped out the rear pin, the barrel dropped and the delta ring banged on the magwell and split it The third one, the guy was installing a stock on it, and while tightening down the castle nut, broke it right off.

Good to go and hold what you might like and pretend to show interest in being ripped off...
Why would you consider getting a plastic lower? Seriously? Don't be a cheapskate, get something that costs $50 more and lasts twenty years longer.
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/69657/Bushmaster+CAR15+223+16+BSH+REDDOT Thoughts on this AR?
