Why is the need to defend yourself a good thing? We live in a modern era and we should be safe now instead of wondering whether our neighbour will break in, steal my Samsung 60", rape my girlfriend and punch my kitten. We have a functioning society now and the reasoning behind it hasn't changed. The general populous seems to put all their faith in their shitty 1911 and surplus ammo to care for them and to save them in their time of need, and I find that dependency incredibly frightening. What is so wrong with living somewhere you do not have to fear for your own life? /yurorant
You're acting like we REVEL in the fact that we need firearms for self defense. I dont think any American here who isnt a total psycho actually wants to use their weapons for self-defense. I honestly wish all guns were for recreation, but thats never gonna happen.
What is so wrong with living somewhere you do not have to fear for your own life?
Nothing at all
No, I live in a safe area, and it seems the US is nowhere close to being as civilised as Scandinavia is. I don't have to pack a gun to feel safe, you do. You tell me what that tells you.
Do you sleep up there or do you use a ladder to get down off that horse?
i live in arizona and i have to fight off javelina and cartel members all the time it's like mad max pls help
Switzerland is very safe but they still have their whole people's militia thing. I very much like that philosophy.
Go compare Norway's crimerates to the US'. Call it lack of civilization or whatever you want, but being able to defend your home is a necessity in some areas of our country. You don't have to be a prick about it.
Hey, if you realise that the US has much more crime than other countries, why are you surprised we don't have to use firearms in SD situations?
It doesn't fucking matter where you live, You. Are. Never. SAFE, PERIOD. No place in the world is safe, every place has danger. Oh, you live in a really fucking awesome neighborhood where nothing has happened yet? That doesn't mean it wont happen, Self Defense is there for a reason. No matter where on this fucking earth you go it will NEVER be safe.
When staying in my house or walking through my neighbour I do not need a firearm to defend myself. Believing that you might be killed at any moment hints to severe paranoia and/or an irrational fear of everything.
feeling safe is just a mentality i can walk around in Detroit at night and say i feel safe, i can come to scandinavia and walk around and say i feel in danger because of bears or something but you're better than us right?
No, I'm saying that believing you need to be armed to avoid getting killed and/or robbed is pathetic.
Mini 14's are actually pretty damn accurate, so whatever you've heard is wrong or any Mini 14 you handled was probably you're fault cause you're probably a shitty shooter. And whats wrong with rugers? Rugers are pretty damn nice weapons.
Or maybe you're praising Ruger because they make cheap guns. Which is part of the problem why they have bad QC and their guns are badly designed again leading to more wear and tear, reduced accuracy and things that can go wrong. Mini-14s aren't really accurate compared to anything else and you're blatantly ignoring all reports of bad accuracy. How come the accustrut is that incredibly popular if its vanilla config gives below average performance?
You're acting like we REVEL in the fact that we need firearms for self defense. I dont think any American here who isnt a total psycho actually wants to use their weapons for self-defense. I honestly wish all guns were for recreation, but thats never gonna happen.
No, but it seems like you are entirely convinced you need a firearm to not get killed.
Do you sleep up there or do you use a ladder to get down off that horse?
What, I'm narcissistic because I live somewhere where I do not have to carry a gun to feel safe in my own house? [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Switzerland is very safe but they still have their whole people's militia thing. I very much like that philosophy.
That is nothing like the mentality of having to carry a gun at all times, keeping a rifle by your bed and a shotgun in your shitty Ford. Switzerland has a conscripted army and that's why people carry Sig500s with them. They do not have a concrete defence force.
Is poaching even a modern day problem in the US anymore?
Not as bad as it used to be, but everyone here in the south does it to some extent. Gators nearly went extinct due to poaching just a few decades ago
wow cultural differences and stuff shut up pruss
being an openly gay/femmy/faggy person in arizona, i actually DO need to carry a weapon unable to carry a pistol just yet, but i carry around that boat hitch with the spike in it and i used it in a fight not too long ago. i got hurt, so naturally i would have preferred a gun, since i would have exited unscathed. gonna OC a single action revolver when i can
Hey. Political people. Shut up and get talkin' about guns.

Ignore pruss and lets move along, home defense discussion ended 2 pages ago and it went no where, no point in starting up again.
fords are bad btw how about you cc a double action revolver and don't attempt to stop violence by killing people
lmao now you're straight up trolling i'm sorry that american culture views guns differently than the culture in buttfuck nowhere, scandinavia

And ruger making cheap guns? Lmfao you've gotta be shitting me, $1700 isn't exactly "Cheap" for a piston AR either.
freedom = shooting people on your property USA USA USA
YEAH NOW YOU'RE GETTIN' IT
freedom = shooting people on your property USA USA USA
lmao that's not an everyday occurrence people buy guns because woah this might come as a shock to you but... they like guns self defense is a bonus. it is not a requirement (for most people). it's like when you adopt a dog you adopt it because dogs are good companions, everything else it does for you is a bonus
ding dong the witch is dead
you would think he would have learned from his previous firearm-related bans but nah thanks much asaratha
So if you're a responsible CC'er, when are you supposed to draw your firearm?
So if you're a responsible CC'er, when are you supposed to draw your firearm?
I can't speak from experience but I would only draw if I was in a situation that involved another firearm and I otherwise would not be able to call the police or defuse the situation.
mucho gracias, asa and i'd assume only draw when you see some major shit going down
All reports of bad accuracy are from fuckheads who don't know how to shoot a damn gun, throw me a mini 14 with some match ammo and I'll be hitting the same spot every damn time at 100 yards with the irons. Accuracy with older mini-14's were the lament of many owners, they did have very thin crappy caste made barrels that flexed and warped alot when multiple rounds had been fired through said barrel. :science: Apparently it's not so much a problem with newer Mini's because Ruger got its shit together and its said they've have started doing some modern fancey schmancy forging stuff with the barrels. I point you towards this Mini-14 as an example of what I'm trying to get at. The barrel on this one is much thicker. Less flexing, better consistent accuracy.
