You want loud? Not the supressed one, but all the others. Goddamn.
I don't understand what this is...
I've got the M82, and that thing thumps pretty well. Recoil is honestly not that bad, but the feeling of that big boom is just awesome. I've been wanting a .45-70, just for how loud those things are, and not to mention they shoot damn rainbows :v:
So... Do they ship by chance?
Within Canada.
Today my dad told me that he wanted this squirrel that has been chewing our insulation dead - the closest thing to a gun in our family is my air rifle. I packed some pointy Gamo Magnum .177 pellets and waited for the poor bastard to come back to our backyard. When it popped up I fired a shot at it - and hit it. It fell but got back up after a few seconds and fled into a tree. I shot it again but it didn't fell. The third shot dropped the fucker and I used a fourth shot to execute it from point blank range - my dad then used a 2x4 to make sure it wouldn't get up again. This was the first time I killed an animal with the airgun. I still wonder how it managed to take so many hits - 3 out of 4 were fired from a distance less than 10 feet. I guess a .22 airgun with ~1000 fps would do better.

It was pretty dark and I didn't aim too carefully - I did aim for the lungs tough. Might also be the zeroing on my scope - bullet drop probably made the first shot a gut shot.

I'm all for protecting your shit even if that includes kills a squirrel or 2 but if you can it should be as humane as possible.

All you're going to do is put it in pain and scare it off. aim for the spine or neck next go around.

Luckily it didn't escape out of reach - that would have been the worst case scenario. We felt pretty bad after all the hassle. Next time a varmint needs removing I'll do it during the daylight and with and a .22 rifle (probably getting one soon, thinking of CZ455) or a trap.

Aiming for the neck/head and spine area is almost ALWAYS an instant kill or it'll paralyze it and you'll be able to cut its neck and end him and he won't feel pain.
Just put $100 down on the nicest WASR I've ever seen. Because why not.
Is there such thing as .308 military surplus?
A local place is offering this deal:
I've brought up the Marstar SKS before here, all the Americans get jelly that they can't get one so cheap, and that they can't get this ammo anymore, as the ATF considers it armour-piercing pistol ammo.
Is there such thing as .308 military surplus?
I bought an ammo can of 7.62x51mm on a 250 round belt a few months ago, it wasn't that much cheaper than what you could get from wolf or tulammo though. [editline]13th October 2012[/editline] try this http://eagleammo.com/military-surplus-7-62x51-308-win-cetme-112gr-fmj-per-20
Wow 308's expensive
Is there such thing as .308 military surplus?
Getting through the last of my German surplus. Runs about 50 cents a round. Isn't corrosive, but isn't reloadable.
There's some places that sell Chinese .308 up here for about $0.60/round, and it's reloadable.
Still trying to get a job so I can buy a Cetme and afford the 308 [editline]13th October 2012[/editline] Oh shit I'm seeing like $400 cetmes
There's some places that sell Chinese .308 up here for about $0.60/round, and it's reloadable.
Can you give me some info on that? I'll be needing to find some .308 that won't run my wallet dry.
Canadaammo gets some in stock every few months, it sells fast though. https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/465/norinco-7-62x51-nato-ammunition-brass-cased-900rds/ Sometimes they'll also put up a Chinese M-14 and about 700 rounds for ~$500-$700. Also, here's some Sellier & Bellot .308: http://www.theammosource.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_108_110&products_id=171 http://www.theammosource.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_108_110&products_id=170 And here's some Czech, and corrosive, legit milsurp from the '80s: http://www.budgetshootersupply.ca/frame.cfm?ItemID=64&CategoryID=54 [editline]13th October 2012[/editline] And for ammo local, as in, in Toronto: https://alflahertys.com/product_detail.php?pc=B&psc=108&uid=1564&page_num=0 Though being steel cased it's not reloadable.
Right, what's the deal between 7.62x51 and .308 cartridges. Are they interchangeable? I'm sure the question has been asked before but it would be nice to have a coherent explanation from somebody.

Yes they're interchangeable, the hunting round actually, IIRC, produces greater pressures than the military one.

its confusing ban guns fuck guns in other news look at this sexy bitch (the gun too) it sounds so good [editline]13th October 2012[/editline] im obsessed i want a cetme so bad
There are no metric bullets in the .45 calibre, but .40 is 10mm, and .38/.357 is 9mm. [editline]13th October 2012[/editline] Also, found another .308 source for your Steyr, HellSoldier; http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=80909

I'm sure the question has been asked before but it would be nice to have a coherent explanation from somebody.
they're interchangeable, same thing, .308 is the imperial measurement, 7.62x51mm is the metric one. I've heard the military casings will sometimes be a bit thicker, but I don't know how true that is. I always check my headspace when I buy milsurp 308 just to be safe.
.308 is rated for ~65000 psi while 7.62x51 is closer to 50000 and that's the only real difference. 7.62x51 is always safe in .308, .308 is usually but not always safe in 7.62x51 [editline]13th October 2012[/editline] I can't think of a single military firearm supposedly chambered in 7.62x51 that can't run .308 though so you'll probably be fine, the only issue is when you start going full-auto. automatics don't like the thinner cases on .308
