5160 isn't too hard to work with then again i've only forged with it so idk
I don't understand what this is...
Basically people training for VIP protection in football stadiums.
honestly for smokeless I wouldn't trust anything less than 6150 unless it's like 25ACP or something
Green Mountain uses 4140 for their smokeless barrels. You don't need adamantium, just something hard enough to handle most of what's thrown at it.
5160 isn't too hard to work with then again i've only forged with it so idk
Yeah it's not hard to forge, getting it to the right temperature can be if you're not used to it but the old magnet trick is handy there, you've got to anneal it to do any machine work or it'll eat your tools down to the nub though, and it'd be real rage worthy material to do some nice precision machine work on a complicated part, only to have the motherfucker warp when exposed to heat for tempering.
You really shouldn't be saying "well this steel is better than yours" Every alloy has it's uses. Go look at its datasheet and you can calculate for it's correct use

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2012/10/12/art-activists-plan-to-dump-cement-on-hk-factory/ Even art activists are upset at HK's prices.
wtf is an art activist
that is the dumbest plan i've seen since FAWB [editline]14th October 2012[/editline] except FAWB actually happened and ruined all our fun
sag-a-fag-us
HKs guns are expensive though. Except they're sexy [editline]14th October 2012[/editline] How do you guys pronounce Heckler and Koch? Heckler and Kotch or Heckler and Ko?
Hell n' Coke
Hitler and Krotch
Heckler and Cock [editline]14th October 2012[/editline] I just call them HK and people know what I'm talking about more times than not.
I say Heckler and Koch.
I understand it as Heckler and Coke
Heckler & Kotch? I always remembered by Heckle my Kotch. [thumb]http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/9127/dsc00115rv.jpg[/thumb] Picture somewhat related, kits for the SL8 to make semiautomatic G36s.

Fuck yes. Finally found a proper range where you can fire standing and they don't give you shit about mag capacity. Today we learn that the AAAAA MOTHERLAND shooting style (aim in the general area of the target and squeeze off a couple of rounds per second) is fun, but of the 80 rounds I fired only about half hit the paper. And this was at 50 meters. The closest to the bullseye was one that ricocheted off the small mound in front of the target and made a nice triangular hole (wound vectors, yo). But hey, accuracy isn't really fun anyway. At the end my AK was smoking and the handguard was hot at the touch. Best day ever.
To submit a C&R FFL, you must be: 21 years of age or older
Fuck man. Not only does this mean I have to wait a little longer to get delicious discounts when buying online, but I also have to wait that same time until I can finally get my handgun permit.
Also, interesting sights at that range: a cap-lock musket, a Norinco AR-15 that launched brass with the fury of a thousand suns, a K98 or two, a Beretta AR70, a guy had a .308 Breda Garand and an M1 carbine, another had a K98 and a FUCKING STURMGEWEHR HOLY FUCK. 9/10 will visit again. [editline]14th October 2012[/editline] Curse thee, this was my automerge.
If you want to build guns that burn Smokeless rather than Black Powder you're gonna need some pretty serious machinery and experience with 4130, 5160 steel or higher. Trust me, 5160 is a BITCH to work without the right tools, and you will have to anneal it so it doesn't chip or eat your tools and triple normalize it so it doesn't warp when you go to temper it, and tempering can't be done in water or it cracks so you'll need a lot of canola oil.
Tempering is done in (hot) air. Quenching is where the oil comes in.
Was going through my dad's old youtube account, found this video from about a year ago. Oklahoma is the best
http://centerfiresystems.com/stkaka04.aspx?MMP=101QBI7CAXO Anyone ever gotten this set? I plan to get them and refinish them real nice.

I plan to get them and refinish them real nice.
I bought a set like it, but from a different place. I've seen people who bought from there, but they've been issued before, so they tend to be a bit beat up or have things carved into them, like spork said. I bought mine from here, and it was a flawless set without a scratch on it. Just make sure to clean the grease out of it, I almost set my AK on fire after I fired a few mags. http://aa-ok.com/ak-stock-set-american-walnut-usa.html
Thanks man! I'll remember these. Probably way better purchase then the issued ones anyway.
Seen many of people get those, they're nice but they often have names carved into them from the previous owners.
That'd be kind of cool, IMO.
That'd be kind of cool, IMO.
So far I've seen two people with carved names in them. The one person has "VYKI" on the right side of the lower foregrip and the other has "CARMEN" going down the side of his vertical curved grip. It's cool but the novelty seems like it would wear out very quickly, like having someone else's name on your clothing you bought secondhand. I however had to go with Timbersmith Premium Red Romanian Furniture, since those push it to be legal for 922r.
A while back I posted a family photo... Well, did some downsizing in the past week. Here is the updated version:
