Beretta 92 (F, FS, etc) type guns tend to jam... a lot... in my experience. Dunno if they're just really picky about ammo or what but every time I've tried one (four times now) it's just a nightmare.
Shame, because I actually really like the style of Beretta's pistols, it's just I have horrible experiences every time I try to put a few rounds through them.

or learn to stop limp wristing
There's either something wrong with you, the gun(s), or your ammo, because I've put about ~500 rounds through my Beretta and I haven't had a single malfunction. I clean it properly after every shooting, too.
Have fun with your slide cracking and Beretta's CS being shit!

Although thinking realistically the SKS over here would be 100% restricted under the firearms act, I could apply for the license for it if I could find an importer, but then it's on the whim of a guard to say if i can have it or not. It's an utter disgrace, especially for someone who is [B]payed [/B]by the state to use firearms to protect it. It's on the license and they know who I am, yet they would still try to screw me over. That's why I would love to move to America for a while(maybe Miami for the sun), were I could just shoot in peace even if I had to put up with the horrible attitude.

if you want to move to Florida, go to pensacola/tallahassee, plenty of shooting ranges in the area, outdoor and indoor, and if you make friends, you can go shoot on their property for free. Thats at least my experience in the area.

Because lying about it being a superb, brilliant design is better than saying the slides [B]are[/B] prone to cracking [B]and[/B] Beretta's customer support [B]does[/B] tell you that slides are a part meant to be replaced?

"Nice gun, just be careful because the slides tend to crack, and I haven't heard good thing about Baretta's CS" is the proper way of telling someone the gun they own might be shit, you don't have to be such a dick about it.

What range might that be? I'm like a half hours drive from Tallahassee, I haven't found a new range since I moved. I'm still looking for a new one.
I live in seminole county, nearest decent outdoor range requires a membership. It's free for anyone on Sundays I think, but I heard it gets really crowded... Only ever got to shoot my babies indoors :(

What's wrong with Remington's guns? I've fired a few 870's and a 700. The 870 is an amazing shotgun and the 700 shot quarter sized groups at 100 yards.
Remington went to shit after 2005-2007
Got a NCStar Red dot today, looks good so far.

A .22 is a better choice IMO
Cheap as chips to shoot, fun to shoot, usually extremely customizable (Ruger 10/22, etc), helps develop good form
Given their price in the US, no, too expensive.
price isn't really something i take into account by the way. it's all extra/recreational money.

not really, mosin nagants and SKS' wouldn't be bad starting rifles, but like timebomb said it's probably better to start with something like a 10/22. Whatever your price range, gun laws, and ammunition availability allows.

For an absolutely new shooter, it's not a good rifle.
It however is good as a rifle for someone who wants to go innawoods and survive the apocalypse, or wanting what is an AK without the drawbacks of accuracy.
If you're completely new to shooting, look at a Ruger 10/22 or a Marlin Model 60. The Ruger 10/22 will be easier to find not only in quantity and in customization features, but the Model 60 is almost the same thing but being $50-100 cheaper and tube fed instead of being via magazine.
Unrelated, but I just got back from my local gun shop about an hour ago. It's such a terrible shop for guns since it's mostly Call of Duty it ponders to, and this means that the prices on everything including terrible quality guns are roughly three-halves of what the rifle's MSRP is in brand new condition. For example, they had an M44 with all the finish removed from the wood and pitted for the low sale price of $250, and when I wanted to put in an order for a rifle they told me the rifle costs thousands of dollars and is extremely rare to find when all I wanted was a M98.

The ones at local places were $600 (They say that's with a discount), got it new for $515. Super excited to shoot it this weekend.
My first gun (well i bought two) was a hex mosin nagant and a norinco sks both bought for 200$ for both. This was like a few months ago, while they're not great starter guns, i gotta admit i don't mind recoil on other guns that much now

they're picky about mags. if you get just one grain of sand in the mag the whole thing stops working

yes. good caliber for hunting or self defense, cheap to shoot, cheap to buy, fairly customizable, low recoil
