Instead of filling them with BBs, I just use the gas pressure inside the grenade to fire those pocket nerf footballs, and we count them as AoE weapons, so it acts more like a real 40mm grenade instead of just a big shotgun
but yeah the shells are quite expensive, but basically infintely reusable

If the soviets invaded with infantry the death toll would have been in the millions on both sides. Just think Talvisota, except 10 times worse. I doubt they would have invaded the mainland without glassing it first.

They'd still be facing an island invasion where the entire population is going to resist until the last man, woman, and child would have been killed. The US had death toll estimates for operation downfall, they thought they might suffer 456,000-1,260,000 casualties during the operation. The soviets probably would have suffered similar losses.

1,260,000 Is still just over half of the battle of Stalingrad, which is considered a "win"

I think that if Japan had not attacked the US in the second world war, then Russia would be Japanese. Because the Japanese pretty much owned China and could easily beat Russian troops in skill, but with China they could beat them with numbers too.

Japan and Russia fought one battle. Russia dominated, because as good as Japanese troops are, their equipment was even more shit than the Russian's, and the T-34 is better than any Japanese tank.

The T-34 was a superior tank, but I think that the superiority of the Japanese Navy, Air Force, and Army would have been enough to handle the Russians. I mean why fight a tank when you can have a plan blow it up.

The Russians beat the Germans, who were obviously better equipped and trained, and both Germany and Japan were fighting wars on 2 fronts, 3 if the US had done a land assault/if we were including the US in this hypothetical situation. It wouldn't have been much different for Japan, it would have just taken them a while to get their troops over there, but the sheer numbers of Russians and Chinese who would have assaulted Japan would have resulted in a devastating victory.

the far eastern troops of the Russians were superior in training to the average Japanese in that battle. However those superior troops were pulled back to Moscow, and the Western front of Russia to combat the Germans. If Japan had coordinated with Germany early Russia would have crumbled. And that is the extent of my knowledge from my history teacher this semester

Not necessarily, because Japan was also dividing their troops throughout southeast Asia, China, most of the Pacific, and with speculation of an attack on Australia. Japan, like Germany, would have lost due to the division of troops, and fighting too many wars on too many fronts.

Those estimates were just for the first few weeks of the battle. The invasion of japan could have taken years if Japan planned their resistance properly.
