Doesn't use bullets, 0/10.

Wow, you already put the limbs on the wrong way round.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/2GDZs.jpg[/img_thumb]
Muahaha
Modern recurve 0/10 would not string.
Makes me wish I could find some fucking hickory though, god damn.
The limbs were wrong way around in that pic. My judgement was blurred by my excitement

String it up and shoot yourself.
Gedit, because it's the other way round.
next time im at the range im going to grab a picture of my kickin-rad bow for you guys just to generate some jelly
itll be delicious
Actually I'm having some trouble stringing it.
The string it came with seems to be like 4 or 5 inches too long. I'm pretty sure there's a method to this which I'm not getting, and all I can find on Youtube is how to use a bow stringer (which I don't have, by the way)
Something to do with putting one loop down over one of the limbs or something. I'm pretty damn lost.

Put one loop into the notch, put the other over the other limb (do this before notching the other end), put the bow through your legs (hard to explain) and then brace it somehow, pull it attaches... Fuck, I can't explain this shit.

Yeah but then how does the top notch get in? Plus the black service area in the middle wouldn't be centered

You slid it up the limb after you put some tension on it. It is hard to explain.
This explains it, but it is hard to under stand without watching someone else do it: http://www.wikihow.com/String-a-Recurve-Bow

Long bows mate!
i remember how you do it is, put the end of the bow on the outside of your left foot
put the bow through your legs behind you, with the "inside" of the bow facing right.
sort of sit on the bow, and use your right hand to push the other end forward
That's if you don't have a stringer and it's better to use a stringer than not.
That's if you don't have a stringer and it's better to use a stringer than not.
How is it better to use a stringer? It takes 2 minutes to string with a stringer when you have to get it out, place it and put it away. It takes less then 10 seconds to do it with your leg.
unmanly men requiring more manly pulling power from unmanly arms pleb race
not necessarily. I'm more in the more manly pulling power from more manly arms school of compound bows.
my compound has a 90 pound draw weight which is wholly unnecessary in even a longbow, in a compound bow it's plain old overkill
imagine taking the time to aim a shot with a 90 lb longbow, your arm would probably come off

I want to buy a stringer because if you don't use it, you put weird strains and bends in your bow after a while. A stringer will pull it equally and safely.

If you put pressure on a limb rather than the grip it weakens the bow until one day it breaks when you go to string it. So long as you're bending it at the grip though it's fine, I had my 45# oak longbow for 14 years before I gave it away.
Used to practice with that bow almost every morning for about an hour, would even take it with me on trips when it was practical, I do miss that bow but it's gone to a good home. Eventually I'll find some Hickory to use as a backing on some Ipe and make an 80 pounder.

Well you're not supposed to hold a longbow, you just draw and shoot in one motion.

I have been stringing my longbow with my legs fro 5 years now, same bow, no damage.

which is a pretty stupid operating mechanic imo
This ain't the "I have upper body strength and can force projectiles forward by exerting force on a string" thread, it's the "I have no upper body strength and therefore force projectiles forward with controlled explosions" thread.
I suck at archery; I can't pull the bow back enough, I can't aim it, and compound bows are for pussies who want the easy way out, which means I'll never be good at archery.

On another note, I picked up an H&R .32 hammerless break-top revolver up the other day for $100 from a family friend. It was shipped across the US loaded, just like a normal parcel. I also got a box of 50 .32 shorts, and will shoot it next weekend. It has some holster wear too, so I want to believe it was an EDC of a cowboy long ago.
