Americans! tell me, how does this work: You're 18, you buy a rifle in a pistol calibre (say a lever action rifle or a Hi-Point) and you go to buy ammo. Will they sell it to you? or do you need to get someone else to buy it for you?
some stores like wal mart won't sell you the ammo, but most will ask you if it's for a pistol or a rifle. Whenever I bought ammo to feed my Glock back then (which I bought in a private sale) I just told them it was for a carbine.
Technically you need to be 21 to buy handgun ammunition in the U.S. It's somewhat of a gray area though
What a silly law
What a silly law
Americas gun laws, while lax, are silly. At 18, I can walk out the door of a gun shop with an AR-15 and an AK-47, but I can't walk out with a .22 pistol. Gotta be 21 to buy a pistol through an FFL, but I can get one through a private sale.
One time some guy tried to card me for .30 carb because there are handguns chambered for it. I was like "lol wat?"

Here in Australia, in 6 months time, at 19, I can own a pistol, assuming SAPOL gets off their ass and send me the damn paperwork
Places like walmart will refuse to sell you the ammo, but most gun shops or pawn shops will sell it to you.
You can also get ammo from the internet. Most online retailers do not require a signature. Almost all of the ammo we've ordered was just left on our doorstep. :v:
I might get to buy a 1913 dated Colt 1911 that has seen action during WW1, then WW2, then carried by a local police officer, then carried by a trucker, and now belonging to my neighbor down the street. KICKASS!
You can also get ammo from the internet. Most online retailers do not require a signature. Almost all of the ammo we've ordered was just left on our doorstep. :v:
You usually need to email them a photo of your ID though
In Canada at age 18 you can own any firearm not classified as "prohibited." And if your dad/mom/spouse owns any prohibited pistols, they can, when you're 18 and have a license for pistols, transfer to you any prohibited pistols they have that were made before 1946, and you can own those, but not acquire more. You can also have a handgun shipped to your door via Canada Post, the federal postal service.
You usually need to email them a photo of your ID though
I don't believe that's the case for the guys we order from. Then again, it's my parents who do the ordering, so I wouldn't know. :v: That said, I don't recall them sending in a photo of their IDs.
.44 or .454? Or -gasp- .480?
Foty foh mag

Buy a converted Saiga-12 with a 20 round drum as a combo deal with your new pair of Barret Rifles, an M82 and M95! But heaven forbid you buy a Raven in .25ACP.
Yeah, well sneaking a M82 into public places is going to be a bit harder than sneaking in a glock
that's fabulous but it's easier to just buy a rossi turkey gun for $150 or so and lobbing off about 18 inches of barrel or you can just wear a heavy coat and sneak an AK with the stock lobbed off under it [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] or one of those yugo krink pistols you can probably fit under a hoodie
Yeah, well sneaking a M82 into public places is going to be a bit harder than sneaking in a glock
If you want a handgun under 18, just do a private sale. Can't buy one from an FFL holder, but private sales are perfectly legal.
Yeah, well sneaking a M82 into public places is going to be a bit harder than sneaking in a glock
You don't need to sneak into somewhere when you have a fucking antimaterial rifle.
I dont know how much of the actual gun part is true, but what happened is. Back when my grandpa was alive, and younger, he was at a bar and sold the one handgun in our family that my dad wanted his entire life for $100. From what I'm told, the handgun was a Colt .45 Diamondback. And if we had the gun today, it would be worth a sizable amount of money. However, when investigating this further, the diamondback doesnt have a .45 caliber... So either some details got twisted.. or its either a .45 OR the diamondback, not both.
Yeah, well sneaking a M82 into public places is going to be a bit harder than sneaking in a glock
Also, how does a person being 21 make them suddenly less likely to use a legally purchased handgun in a crime, or illegally conceal it?
Also, how does a person being 21 make them suddenly less likely to use a legally purchased handgun in a crime, or illegally conceal it?
They are more responsible and less likely to do dumb shit  Ah who the hell am I kidding, that doesn't stop some tard from going in and buying a Hipoint as a dropgun and doing something absolutely fuck-all retarded. Shit, I had a handgun at the age of 18 and I was perfectly responsible with it. I think background checks need to be more detailed and some of these silly laws done away with (like hunting with a suppressor in Georgia being illegal, how in the hell does that harm anyone?)
want sort of offtopic: I hate that some people see a large gun collection and assume the person is a sociopath. I can appreciate all of the workmanship and pure technical genius that goes into gunsmithing and I don't even kill animals. Almost every gun available nowadays is a work of art. I wonder how hard it will be to own a gun in 200 years. More and more people find firearms and gun ownership disgusting and scary. I imagine all of the cool private weapon R&D that goes on in the world will go away and a great display of human ingenuity will be lost :( http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1222787 Some of the posts in this thread really make me sad. It's obvious gun collecting is just this guy's hobby.

If I can't have one custom made, I'll get 7.62x39. The idea is for a strong single shot backup handi-rifle style gun in the same caliber that I'm using for hog hunting. I don't hunt deer, but I kill a lot of hogs. Mean mother fuckers, they tear up so much shit and kill all kinds of animals, people too!
So there is a Olive Green Five-seveN for sale in Australia for $1400AUD... but I can't find a place in Australia that sells 5.7mm ammo.
There is bound to be someone selling brass for it somewhere. Probably the importer sell it
Or maybe it's for sale since he can't get any ammo?
Dealer. He has about 5 of them up for sale.
a fucking antimaterial rifle.
For future reference, anti-materiel is used in the context of a rifle or gun of any sort. the_more_you_know.gif

Like spelling color/colour? I'm fairly sure it's only spelled that way because it was coined in an english country first. If that's the case, I wouldn't think it matters how you spell it.
I am currently 2nd in line for a $600 CMP Garand.
