Finally seen a show on TV with guns in it that's not dumb as hell, Family guns seems alright, mainly because the father keeps his dumb son in line.
Going to the gun store to shoot a usp and going to ask if he has a p-14 wish me luck!

It's pretty obvious that some of it is scripted though, saw one where the son tried to sell the father's Wender pistols for $100,000 and the father turns out to be the one who bought em then does the same with the son's lead soldiers to teach him a lesson.
And I loved the way they decided to unload that cannon after making a big deal about how it was a bomb waiting to explode, lets just bang it on the ground by the trunnions with a forklift instead of pricking the vent and filling the breech with water.
A lot of the little tidbits that pop up on screen are misleading too. Flintlocks misfire once every 9 shots? Yeah maybe a shitter made by or operated by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
IMA has a lot of good stuff though, I got my Nepalese Martini Henry from them, if I could find some .577/450 I could probably fire it too. Gonna use it as a pattern gun eventually and make a Martini Henry in .460 S&W, then I can fire .454 Casull and .45 Colt out of it too.

That's probably the one thing keeping me from going after one of those Martini Henrys. I've never seen ammo for sale, even at gunshows and whatnot. I would kill for one in .303 though.
Mother fucker. The hk still feels small and the only p-14 feels really light :v

I've heard MK23's are pretty big compared to other pistols, but I don't know how common they are or if they're bigger than what you've been trying. Start looking at some revolvers if normal handguns are too tiny for your tastes. Small isn't bad.
mk23 is only a little bigger than your average combat pistol, and only really notably in the length and trigger guard size. they're pretty comfortable guns imo but I'm not a fan of DA/SA pistols for self defense.

Yeah you pretty much need to make your own using 24 gauge brass shotshells, then neck em down.
There are some new shells and cartridges out there but they are incredibly expensive.
For this Flintlock I don't have very specific plans, just a bunch of parts, I drew up a profile for it for when I go to bandsaw the rough shape out but it's really just a matter of carving the parts into the right spots and then smoothing everything out.
When I make something complex or from though I usually make a 3D model of it to make sure it'll go together right then use the model as a reference.
I'll take pictures of the shop after I clean it up a bit...
So next year maybe?
real men make it up as they go and use a hammer for everything
real men make it up as they go and use a hammer for everything
And thus, after a flurry of hammer strikes on pot metal, the first Century arms AK sporter rifle was born.
The dealer recommended me a s&w 500 since i kept asking for something big then he let me hold it :v
What's a cheap plinking pistol, around $100?

you can get a Nagant M95 for about that price, but ammo is a bit on the expensive side. I'd personally spend a bit more and pick up a CZ70 in .32ACP or a Yugo M57 in 7.62x25, it'll be cheaper in the long run

200 is close enough.
I'd get a CZ70 or M57 over pretty much anything by Kel-Tec
200 is close enough.
Get a tokarev then. solid pistol, ammo isn't too hard to find, and it's not that expensive.

I have one. The front sight sucks ass.

7.62x25 is dirt cheap. new production is about the same price as .45ACP and surplus is less than $.10 a round

Where are you getting it that cheap? I'm due for a stock up on Tokarev ammo.
I have one. The front sight sucks ass.
you're crazy, toks have great sights
you're crazy, toks have great sights
My front wiggles back and fourth.
What about the couple Kel-Tec's I posted. Any reason to not use that instead of my Hi-Point as a defense weapon? My Hi-Point has never had a FTF or jam or anything, I just want something smaller. The plinking weapon was me beginning the nerdy gun search...
I have one. The front sight sucks ass.
Paint it with pink nail polish, makes the sight a lot better.

I haven't seen the cheap polish surplus for a while outside of gun shows but aimsurplus has prvi for around $16/50

it's out of stock and there's no telling if they'll ever get it back but there you go
[editline]4th November 2012[/editline]
I've seen polish go as cheap as $80/1260
Opinions on the Kel-Tec options I posted?
they're pretty good, kel-tec generally makes good guns

Any reason to not trust my life with one?
[editline]4th November 2012[/editline]

Watching this video pisses me off that my wife won't touch guns. I'm not home for ~12 hours a day when she is... I live very close to Baltimore. She will not touch or look at any of my guns. So frustrating. She calls me a paranoid freak for being prepared.
Any reason to not trust my life with one?
other than that those baby pistols are pretty uncomfortable to hold, no. that's a problem with CC oriented pistols rather than the kel-tecs themselves though.
