Romney supported the Assault weapons ban because he can't fight.
Same. I voted straight Libertarian ticket. Only place I couldn't was the regent at University of Colorado.
I didn't really care either way honestly. I voted Libertarian. The only thing is that now the prices at the gunshow this weekend are going to be atrocious and I'm sad :C
Blame the NRA and their creation of the Anti Gun Obama myth.
Blame the NRA and their creation of the Anti Gun Obama myth.
Same, all they're doing is promoting bullshit to scare people into voting Republican. They're just a Republican tool
yeah, NRA seems to be more about securing republican votes than securing gun rights. ah well, it was nice while it lasted.
Blame the NRA and their creation of the Anti Gun Obama myth.
I'm blaming a president who's openly admitted he would actively try to reintroduce the Assault Weapons Ban.
He said he would support a renewal of the AWB, which Romney also openly stated
If similar cockblocking happens, we'll expect another four years where nothing will happen.
He said he would support a renewal of the AWB, which Romney also openly stated
To my knowledge Romney never said anything of the sort in reference to his presidency, but he was crucial in the adoption of the MA AWB. So basically our choices were "planning to" and "already has, and might again", since there was no chance for the hero America deserves (Gary Johnson).
Yeah, it's sad that Gary didn't get his 5% I strongly suspect that a very large number of his votes weren't counted here in MI

It's not hard, just long and tedious. If your going for Cat A&B (air rifles, paintball guns, rimfire rifles not being self loading, shotguns not being pumpaction or self loading, and centrefie rifles not being self loading), go down to your local police station, sill in the form, tick the boxes for A&B with the purposes of hunting, paintball and private target shooting, sign it and such, then hand it over the the police officer. Wait a few months for them to send it back to you. Once you get it back, book your TAFE firearms safety course and go to it. Then wait for a letter from the police to arrive. Pay your licence fee and then you get it. If you want to get Cat H (handguns under 38cal/9mm, barrel length over 120mm, and less than 10 round magazine) added to it then you need to go to a handgun club, get trained (could take 6 months, dependent on the club), get your licence, wait 6 months before you can get your first handgun, then your limited to one centrefire handgun and one rimfire handgun, then 6 months later you're unrestricted. You also need to do 6 competitive shoots at a club each year or you lose your licence and have your firearms confiscated If you want Cat C (self loading rimfire rifles, and selfloading or pumpaction shotguns under 5 rounds) you need to be a "primary producer" meaning you make a profit from farm animals or something. Getting it is the same as A&B except you need to make a statutory declaration stating you require a Cat C firearm for work. If you want Cat D (self loading centrefire rifles) then forget about it, won't happen.
What was the process like of getting you're firearms licence here
A bit late but I just got my license last week and the whole process was relatively easy, mostly just have to fill out paperwork and send it away and get your photo ID done. Just be prepared to wait a fair while(took nearly two months to get my license alone) and I've had to pay ~$300 on fees and memberships even before getting a rifle. The biggest upfront cost I'd say would be having to get a gun safe if you don't have one.
Gunstore here. Got shitloads of people wanting lowers. Not bad people or anything, just prepping for an assault weapons ban (Which isn't a bad idea at all in my opinion. Profit!) I might just buy 5 Palmetto State Lowers, just maybe.
I truly doubt there's going to be another AWB, but it wouldn't hurt to try to get as much as you can.
I wouldn't doubt another AWB one bit. Obama and Rurmney both support one.
I don't really follow politics much, but I think republicans still hold the majority in the house, so theres no way an AWB would be able to get passed if it was even proposed.
Anybody have suggestions for a good all-around rifle that could be used for all manner of uses? I'm looking at the good old Kalashnikov, but i'd like a second opinion.
If it was me, I'd get the 870. Such a great shotgun. You could get some stuff for it too. If you're only gonna hunt, nothing else (targets, etc) then the 11-87 might be a good investment. Its a better version of the 1100. Also, if you're using a pump, you're more inclined to be careful and not miss. having a Semi Auto makes you wanna keep pulling the trigger. I have a picture of my 870 on one of the last pages, Mine is also a SuperMag.
Yea, I think that's what I am going to go with, the 870. I know I would have a tendency to shoot the 11-87 faster than what I would need to. I'd also need to pay more attention to detail when cleaning the 11-87, where as the 870 can be a pretty much shoot it and forget it shotgun. Also, my grandfather has an 1100 I can use anytime I would like, if I absolutely needed an automatic. Going to go pick the 870 up at lunch today, I'll snap a pick once I get it in the truck. I'll probably use the difference in money to buy some ammo for the range.
Anybody have suggestions for a good all-around rifle that could be used for all manner of uses? I'm looking at the good old Kalashnikov, but i'd like a second opinion.
IMHO, the M1 Carbine is the perfect little all-around weapon. But if you're adverse to that I'd say the AK, SKS, and AR15 are very good options. Personally, I think I'd take the AR15 out of the 3 due to the ability to change uppers for a multitude of needs.

Maybe this would be the time to bring up .300BLK. [t]http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/300-Blackout-1-400.jpg[/t] What's FP's opinion on it? Some people praise it as if it's made of frozen pope tears and others bash it for being useless. Personally, I like the idea of stuffing a 7.62 in an AR-15 with no more than a barrel change, but I think it serves very few purposes better than 5.56.
.300 blackout is pretty amazing at being suppressed.
If you give us a budget, we can give you better opinions. If it's within your budget, look for a RPK.
Anything up to $800-$1500
Anything up to $800-$1500
With that budget you could get a nice AR, but if you really want an AK you could get an RPK in that budget. I have a norinco one and I love mine.

Hey guys I need a little help. my wife really wants a markov 9mm pistol for her college graduation present. I was just wonder if any one had one in good shape that wanted to sell it or if they knew where to get one. Also I am going to maybe check out the dullas gun show this week for one.
