The button layout for the WiiU pro is painful to look at for me.
I just feel like it's going to contort my thumb at awkward angles.
Never understood how someone could find the Playstation 2 controller comfortable, it was the first proper games controller I used and the 360 still felt way more comfortable than it. I would say that I've used the 360 controller more than the ps2 controller though, I guess whether a controller feels comfortable or not is directly linked to how long you've used the controller, as in it would make you have a certain way of holding the controller that maximises the comfortability of it in your hand that doesn't translate over to other controllers. Or something.
But hey, that's not the subject of the video. I think the main reason people are saying that Nintendo are ripping Microsoft off is due to the fact that, while some ideas from other consoles may have been used by competitors when it comes to designing the controller, they've all been dramatically different as far as aesthetics are concerned, whereas the designers of the Wii U controller haven't taken any risks with the design and have instead just taken a 360 controller and moved some of the buttons around. If the design wasn't so similar, people would just be praising the fact that Nintendo are going back to having a controller rather than hanging onto the whole motion-controller thing, but instead they've copped out and taken the easy route of using a safe, tried-and-tested design.
Just a correction Mr. McMillan (yes, that sniper guy from CoD4 :v:) the PS1 had analog sticks before the PS2 came.
Anyway, it really looks like a 360 controller, but it really isn't, and imo calling it a rip off is like saying "so you want us to come up with a design that doesn't rips off anyone, but at the same time is usable and confortable after a truckload of different consoles being released?"
You forgot to mention Microsoft's unique entry into controller design: You. It's only a matter of time before they patent the human body.
