Think of it. Put 5,000 guys together with guns, who'll follow orders of some person who's in charge, and suddenly all that power is at the hands of who ever gives the orders.
If he said that to FIVE people in the military he'd die.
A military is essential to protecting your nation, that's as simple as it gets. As long as there is someone out there who hates your country, or has reason to take from it, you need a military.
Simply put, Otsegolation, if your country didn't have a country, you'd probably either be dead or wouldn't exist in the first place. Truth.
"Military is essential to protect your nation"
This is what the average person is brain-washed to be.
Oh and you don't need a military to be able to INVADE other countries really.
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
"War is old men talking and young men dying". I disagree with what you're saying though, the military provides many jobs and privileges to people that would not have those things otherwise. Besides, people would kill each other even if no military existed. Some people would form an organised army in the pursuit of power/resources/shit and then conquer the rest of the people, thats just how humanity works.
So you are TOTALLY UNAWARE OF WHAT IS GAINED by the people who DON'T FIGHT THE WARS?
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
Every single large group of humans has a leader/group of leaders. It is the most efficient way to get things done. Leadership is never a bunch of old men who want their dirty work done for them - in the military, it's designed to be flexible and efficient... orders come down from the top, they get assessed and assigned, people complete the tasks and if they can't be completed or they don't think it's a good idea, then that news goes back up.
Guess what? There is a reason why companies, schools, organizations, governments, and the military runs this way. Think about it...
These stupid organizations are stupid because they miss the whole part about HOW SOMEONE CAN SEND PEOPLE TO THEIR PROBABLE DEATH AND NOT CARE ABOUT IT, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW THEM PERSONALLY? They don't risk YOU, they risk "some guy in the army"

You guys sound fucking heartless. Just think about what you're saying. Wars aren't cool. And what is worse is when they're used for some kind of gain, especially when it's people who don't even fight that get the most of the benefit.
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
I'm not just flaming, or calling everyone stupid for no reason.
I don't approve of killing, nor do I promote it. And I hate to see people to kill each other over bullshit reasons. I'd rather have a cool time with everyone on this planet than do something to harm someone. If you disagree with that then you're just one sad, pissed off person, and should cheer the fuck up or change something in your life. Or you just like the idea of murder.
We're not saying that "war is cool", you dumb-shit. We're simply saying that we actually have respect for the men and women of the armed services.
Have you ever even MET a soldier? Have you ever shaken the hand of a pilot? A good majority of those men and women have taken place in non-combat missions, ranging from simple meet-and-greets to airlifting an area struck by a disaster.
"fucking heartless" is what we use to describe YOU, you teen-aged angsty fucking ASSWIPE. You seem to have lost the understanding that these people put their lives on the line DAILY to keep you safe. Hell, working on an airbase in your own country is dangerous!
You, sir, are the sort of person who probably also thinks that cops are "pigs", and hates their local police chief. So to you I say, "fuck off, pig".
I do find military equipment/weapons/vehicles awesome though, just not how it's used 99.98% of the time on this planet.

I don't like to see them USED by someone else. You really think anyone who's served in the military has been rewarded properly FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE?
No, they deserve a lot more when you look over WHAT HAS BEEN GAINED over the course of that whole military operation.

The thing that I don't like about the fuck-all-cops attitude, is that what the person does defines who he is, and not his badge or whatever. Sure I don't like what he's contributing to, but until I know him personally, I can't say shit really. However, I do know some cops do go out looking for where they can start an issue, so to those guys I can tell them how safe I feel with them enforcing the law so well, with a nice smile but keeping the sarcasm to myself. I'd find it funny if they got it, and then went back to doing it still.

You ever take into account that most people who join the Armed Forces do so because they have a desire to serve their country in a manner the vast majority of other people are unable to? Like I did, as well as a few others on these forums? Or that, perhaps, we joined for money or college credit, and that most of us don't particularly mind that we're uncle Sam's bitch for the duration of our contracts?
To be honest, you sound like you're either some kind of mutated ultra-liberal hippie or you're ten years old. You say you aren't insulting or flaming anybody, but yet you insulted the armed forces I represent. You say you have the utmost respect for us, and yet you say we're a bunch of, and I quote, "faggots" and "idiots." You have zero right to talk shit about the Armed Forces of any country. Zero. Why? Because you seem to be utterly incapable of grasping the simple concept that if it wasn't for those "faggot idiots" who stand ready to do battle at a moment's notice for the whims of less then honest politicians(and believe me, I am quite aware of that fact without having to listen to your snot-laden drivel), you'd get the wonderful option of dying a horrible death at the hands of anyone who'd want to pick up a weapon and kill American citizens simply for the reason that they're American citizens. Or you'd get to watch someone close to you be brutally executed. Or crucified. or brutally raped and drug behind a pickup truck. Use your imagination on this one, if you have one in that diseased head of yours.
Fact of the matter is; you're nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Just some whiny tosser bitching on some webforum that organized militaries are the worst thing to ever happen to humankind and looking for a good forum to troll before he get's a one way ticket to the RC courtesy of a bored moderator. So yeah.
Being in the military doesn't give you much time to research what's going on in the world, huh?
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
"Serving your country" is such a broad term.
It could be anything. It could even be going into a poor country, and giving a bunch of guns and other supplies to a group of guys who will force people in their country into forced labor, which could be something like mining resources, and then having them shipped back to your country AND GUESS WHO'S GETTING THE MOST OF THE PROFIT? Not the guy trying to afford college.
Also, serving your country for any guy in a uniform who looks convincing enough? Oh, they got a bunch of other guys in uniforms too, and weapons/equipment. Yeah, it's gotta be legitimate. No injustices here, gotta serve 'em.
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
Do you know what you're contributing to? I'm looking for an answer more specific than "serving my country".
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
I call people who contribute to things in ways they don't understand idiots, and I called them faggots because I hate what is sometimes done by some military.
Also, just do a quick thinking exercise. If no one ever listen to Hitler, took any advice from him, or was in anyway influenced to act out his intentions, then would he have been as powerful as he was? How many people could he have been responsible for the death of? Do you think it was more or less? How many simple soldiers fighting for him do you think knew that much of what was going on?
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
Also Madman, do you think the people that you served appreciate you putting your life at risk? Did they even acknowledge you AS A PERSON, who was also PUTTING HIS LIFE AT RISK?
Obviously not, and that's why you have to go around demanding people to care about what you did. Because the people who you served DON'T CARE.
Also, you call me a liberal hippie? I'm not liberal, or conservative, because I'm not a brainwashed zombie. "Oh geez you're either a liberal or conservative, republican or democrat, duurrrr. No other options, there is no other way of living life, and I can't think for myself or make decisions."
Less bitching, more photos
Hey Otsegolation, do us all a favor and find another thread to troll in alright? Thanks.
Otsegolation, shut up and post pictures. Or get out.
