[quote]Hundreds of family, friends and fellow diggers gathered together at Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, to honour the life of Sapper Jamie Larcombe, who was killed on the 19th February 2011, whilst serving in Afghanistan. Following the service, which was held at Flagstaff Hill, a Bearer Party escorted Jamie's coffin through an Honour Guard, to a Gun Carriage, which was then driven through the lined streets of Kingscote. A Firing Party fired a volley of three shots and a bugler sounded the Last Post as Jamie was laid to rest. Mourners placed poppies into the burial site at the completion of the Burial Service.[/quote]

DOES THIS REMINDS YOU OF MAD MAX?
[QUOTE=Otsegolation;28433268]Being in the military doesn't give you much time to research what's going on in the world, huh?
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
"Serving your country" is such a broad term.
It could be anything. It could even be going into a poor country, and giving a bunch of guns and other supplies to a group of guys who will force people in their country into forced labor, which could be something like mining resources, and then having them shipped back to your country AND GUESS WHO'S GETTING THE MOST OF THE PROFIT? Not the guy trying to afford college.
Also, serving your country for any guy in a uniform who looks convincing enough? Oh, they got a bunch of other guys in uniforms too, and weapons/equipment. Yeah, it's gotta be legitimate. No injustices here, gotta serve 'em.
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
Do you know what you're contributing to? I'm looking for an answer more specific than "serving my country".
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
I call people who contribute to things in ways they don't understand idiots, and I called them faggots because I hate what is sometimes done by some military.
Also, just do a quick thinking exercise. If no one ever listen to Hitler, took any advice from him, or was in anyway influenced to act out his intentions, then would he have been as powerful as he was? How many people could he have been responsible for the death of? Do you think it was more or less? How many simple soldiers fighting for him do you think knew that much of what was going on?
[editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
Also Madman, do you think the people that you served appreciate you putting your life at risk? Did they even acknowledge you AS A PERSON, who was also PUTTING HIS LIFE AT RISK?
Obviously not, and that's why you have to go around demanding people to care about what you did. Because the people who you served DON'T CARE.
Also, you call me a liberal hippie? I'm not liberal, or conservative, because I'm not a brainwashed zombie. "Oh geez you're either a liberal or conservative, republican or democrat, duurrrr. No other options, there is no other way of living life, and I can't think for myself or make decisions."[/QUOTE]
You. Yes, you.

I debated whether or not to write out a response to him that would have been twice as long as that. I decided not to, because Otsegolation is genuinely that retarded. I instead used that time to do something more useful, like use this lovely grant money to take college courses I got from my sign-on contract, as well as plan out my next desktop rig knowing that my sign-on bonus will be more than enough to pay for its dual quad-core awesomeness. :v:
