Also the weapons are fitted with BFA's and laser tagging systems, they are on a training exercise.

groups of IRA are still around, friend of mine, he's a cop, was almost killed by an IRA hand grenade. When he triggered the booby-trap, it bulled on the grenades top so hard it fuse came completely off from the explosive.
German army gear is so fancy. They have some good stuff.

It's all about the same standard kit as any other nation.
Infact it's a slight step back. They're wearing PASGT style Flak Vests (Flak protect against shrapnel rather than gunshots) with MOLLE LBE vests overtop of them for pouches.
Whereas most nations have grown out of the out-dated phase and provide MOLLE vests with intergrated SAPI plates. (replaceable bullet-resistant plates)

The Pros and Cons of each.
Flak Vest with a Load Bearing Vest thrown over it:
Pros -
* Provides Shrapnel Protection to the Soldier with decent coverage.
* The LBE provides same modular setup as most dedicated MOLLE vests
Cons -
* Flak Jackets are often heavy, hot and uncomfortable
* Flak Jackets that take hits need to be completely replaced
* LBE rigs can be uncomfortable, twist or not sit right over a Flak Vest
* Flak Vests severely limit your range of motion
* Do not provide any degree of bullet resistance
Dedicated MOLLE vest with SAPI Plates:
Pros -
* MOLLE vests that accept SAPI come in a wide variety of styles to suit mission roles and wearer preference.
* SAPI Plates can be replaced once they take a hit without having to scrap the entire vest
* SAPI Provide a reasonable stopping force against bullets
* MOLLE setup allows for modular placement of pouches for different mission roles or wearer preference.
Cons -
* Less coverage than a Flak Vest
* Little Shrapnel Protection

It may look fancy but it isnt really anything special. A G36 is just a fancy, expensive AR-18 that can't fit an M203.
The MG3 however is a nice bit of kit.
