My father used to work as a counselor officer for the US state department and a counselor officer, in the case of my father, was basically the guy giving those coming to the US the necessary approval and visas required for whatever it is they want to do in the US. This guy, Manny Pacquiao, came through him and, after proven to be the boxer he claimed he was, he approved him the visa required to come into the US so that he could train for his boxing career. Wouldn't you know, Pacquiao has gone to become quite the boxing champion.
Kinda fun to think that maybe in some small, small way that decision to let him into the country like he did could have played a part in his career's success.
My friend is heading off to Afghanistan this week, hopefully I can get some photos from him to post here.

Some Close Calls:
My buddy's LAW rocket, got shot by an AK. Was strapped to his pack about 6 inches away from his neck. He also took another bullet in the top name tag which was about 2 inches away from his neck. (Later in the deployment, he got shot in the arm, the bullet barely missed his ribs) He made a complete recovery.

Raul Fernandez (R) alias "El Lucky" (The Lucky One), a suspected leader of the Zetas drug cartel, is presented to the media in Mexico City December 13, 2011. Fernandez had a bounty of 15 million pesos ($1.09 million) on his head and operated in the Gulf state of Veracruz as well as the central state of Puebla and Oaxaca state in the south, Mexico's President Felipe Calderon said via his Twitter account. The Zetas, formed at the end of the 1990s by deserters from elite army forces, are believed to have been behind some of the bloodiest crimes against civilians in recent years.

M4s with sights are not Tacticool.
People need to learn the difference between practical and tacticool:
Tacticool is putting shit on your gun that you don't need. Like a bipod and a huge scope on a carbine with an 8" barrel, or an IR laser when you don't have NV goggles to see the laser with.
Practical is putting useful things on your weapon, like being a soldier with a pair of NV goggles and an IR laser, a bipod and scope on a rifle, or a red dot sight.
Learn the difference people

Yeah, I see people calling someone using an M4 with a foregrip, and an EOTech sight with a magnifier for long range, and people call it tacticool when all of that is functional.

RAF Mildenhall’s 351st Air Refueling Squadron KC-135 Stratotankers are responsible for refueling American and allied aircraft, enabling NATO missions across Europe and Africa. Transient aircraft supporting ongoing operations in Afghanistan and other deployed areas also frequently rendezvous with Mildenhall tankers to receive fuel, which extends their global reach and enables the Air Force mission to fly, fight and win.
