Here's the deal. NOT every culture thinks little justified murder is wrong. In fact. Icelandic justice, up to the 16th century, dictadet that anyone who trestassed, stole from your property or (hell yeah) slept with your daughter had voluntarily placed their life in your hands and you could take revenge only by killing him. of course, when this was done, the other family had the same right to kill you for revenge and it often resulted in century long family rivalries... a neverending vicious circle.

there are many cultures and even more less evolved or consequent cultures in the past. Killing hasn't always been "wrong". You don't kill who you love or your family for obvious reasons. anyone else mean nothing. Not until very recently did murdering anyone mean anything but "well, i can't... i'll get punished" think a bit and wake up. Human history and culture only have about 500 well documented years and another 4000 shakily documented years.

Oh, Harro... just edited this in here at the point where in told you that Moses didn't just somehow revolutionize morality, but rather put it into words instead of instincts.
You also have to realize that Murder wasn't the only commandment. there are ten of them. all of which relate to common human social conduct. when you think about it, all the Moses legen served as, was a way to relate the fundamental human instincts in societies. That's actually the point of MOST legends, to convey how something works and sometimes why they work.
Legends aren't just fairytales, their point often relate to something very valid between the lines. Often something explaining some part of our reality the best way we could when the Legend kicked off.
The most prominent thing to overshaddow these instincts are culture, or, more specifically, Peer pressure.

I don't think banning burqas will result in any good. Does it make a difference if they wear burqas or not? It does make a difference to force those people not to wear burqas. It might even increase some muslims hostility towards Europe/any other country banning them and some/most muslim women might WANT to wear a burqa and by not wearing one even if forced they might feel they are violating against their own religion.
