Funny how she chooses to control which pictures are shown to the public through her peace loving blog.
I really hope this "child" gets put out of its misery and the dumb religious zealot mother dies. I agree Figgis Fiddis, Christians...
a little too extreme
Just to stop all the AMGEDCHRISTIANSRBAD bull, 99.9% of Christians ARE religious zealots nowadays. The stretch and skew EVERYTHING biblical. God would've said abort.
Poor mother and poor baby. The majority of people on facepunch have no psychological insight at all. Do you realize what kind of situation this mother is in? You people are way more cruel then words can describe.
lmao the wikipedia has a picture of an alien on it. Edit: oh wait thats a brainless baby
I am a Christian (maybe catholic, I remember singing many songs in church as a child with either word and I still get confused) and I would never ever do something this horrible and this cruel. This is beyond all means and what I would consider torture. To anyone of yall who say things like "Christians" there are those who know what is going on and there are those who are blind like JustExtreme said. Not everything thinks and acts the same. Before anyone "assumes". I am not a radical nor am I lazy fair, I try and keep myself between.
Oh wow. I could use this in my ethics paper. A lot of questions arise from this: does the baby still count as a person (personhood), for example? I'm not sure what to make of it. It somewhat disturbs me, but also fascinates me... The baby's freaky, but it still has a chance to be more than a zombie. Only vaguely understanding Ancephaly, could the baby still develop new brain cells, or adapt to use what she already has, to become cognitive? Considering we have like 3 times as many neurons as a newborn than we need as an adult... They get shed during adolescence. Could Stem Cell research come to her rescue? So many questions. It really weirds me out, but I don't think the mother's choice to keep baby alive warrants so much hate - it's her decision, after all. All it really affects is her and her baby. It also seems quite an outlandish thing to do as a Christian (she mentions she's a Christian in her blog, right?) - whilst the religion promotes sanctity of life, not usually to this extent. I'd think a devout Christian would be against this as equally as abortion... It's a real grey area. Offtopic: I wrote all this post from a phone. My thumbs FUCKING HURT.
Wait, so it has no brain, and it's alive? What tells the heart to beat, the lungs to breath, and everything else?
She was either misinformed or misunderstood what the doctor said. It's missing a large portion of the brain, but the portion that keeps the heart beating and such remains.

Plus, some people, like me, believe in a mixture of religion and science, with the latter being taught uncut and as God-disproving as ever at my Catholic school.
2 Words. Brain-Transplant. I would suggest giving her the mothers brain, but hers is very unsuitable. And Broken.
This. Atheists can't tell a person who's part of a religion and a religious extremist apart.
well christians can't tell any atheists apart either it seems
well christians can't tell any atheists apart either it seems
What about Jews?
What about Jews?
fuck if i know about jews
Atheists can't tell a person who's part of a religion and a religious extremist apart.
Yes, we can, actually. It seems Nelson340 can't tell a tolerant and intolerant atheist apart.
Poor mother and poor baby. The majority of people on facepunch have no psychological insight at all. Do you realize what kind of situation this mother is in? You people are way more cruel then words can describe.
Exactly my thoughts.
2 Words. Brain-Transplant. I would suggest giving her the mothers brain, but hers is very unsuitable. And Broken.
STOP MAKING ME THINK. If they transplanted a brain would the baby think she was that person? Or would she form her own persona? FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU
fuck if i know about jews
I know, right? It's not like anyone here is a Jew...
Exactly my thoughts.
your from 4chan
"But as my mom swung by the clinic today to talk to our nurse practitioner, well what do you know... someone had just dropped off a bunch of Pulmicort and Ventolin that they didn't need anymore." Quoted from her blog. She got medicine for free someone didn't need it so they gave it to her this tells me the medicine being used for her to stay alive isn't in high demand, your argument still sucks. The mother knows the baby won't ever be normal and won't have a long life but she's taking advantage of being with her baby she's a mother her baby breaths and moves even if it can't think or feel to her it's alive and she can't be denied keeping her baby alive by any means.
Just because that particular person didn't need it doesn't mean there's not someone else it could have gone to.
The pictures didn't bother me, but the videos did :frown: kinda sick, you can tell it doesn't have a brain really, as it is all nervous system reflexes and twitches, unlike those of a normal child.
2 Words. Brain-Transplant. I would suggest giving her the mothers brain, but hers is very unsuitable. And Broken.
Where are they going to get a child's brain, for the transplant? That's unethical anyways, and an open Catholic would not do that haha.
a little too extreme
I actually agree with you now I re-read and realize what I wrote. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I amend what I said to "I hope this child gets put out of it's misery and her/his mother learns not to be so ignorant"
He's watching you.
That, my friends, is how babby isn't formed.
You're a winner.
I'm a christian, and I say she should've aborted. My christian friends said she should've aborted. Practically everyone I know says she should've aborted.
Absolutely awful. Its a sin to bring that child into the world. Clearly she inherited anacephely from her mother if you catch my drift.
If it was you're baby, you'd probably want to keep it. I would keep it. I mean, it's still a baby. Most people keep babies with only 1 arm, or no legs. If you can keep a baby with no legs, you can certainly keep a baby with no brain. It may not survive, but, she's not giving up hope.

A baby without a brain can't think, feel, etc...

But you can't fix stupid.
She should have aborted the baby if she knew this was going to happen. I mean, the baby isn't even considered alive it it isn't going to be born with a brain.
