They also recoil a lot. Shotguns do have their purpose for HD but I think a pistol can be placed in a better location and is handier in the tight spaces. Also pistol grips on a shotgun are a bad idea for new shooters. You need a good solid stock because otherwise you will either not be able to hit anything (firing from the hip) or you will knock your front teeth out (not holding it properly when aiming).
Comon now Bean-O, you of all people should know that you should train with your HD gun until you know it like the back of your hand. And I can personally hit things just fine with Mossberg 500, since I have a barrel mounted laser/flashlight combo.
And in reality, it actually takes longer to become a good pistol marksman than it does to become a good shotgun marksman.

I suppose that's true but it's still pretty difficult for someone with no firearm experience whatsoever to use a shotgun. Every time I go shooting I bring a friend and I can tell you new shooters really struggle with that recoil. Especially when you step up to 00.
Some day when one of them pisses me off I'm going to chamber a slug and tell them it's birdshot.
Oh Bean-O, guru of all firearms, please tell me how hard is getting firearm license in europe?
Oh Bean-O, guru of all firearms, please tell me how hard is getting firearm license in europe?
Europe is not a country.
I have no idea. Probably depends on what European country you live in.
Also don't call me a guru. There are dozens of users that have far more experience than I do. I'm mostly book/research-based knowledge.
I wish I lived in Ameirca so then i would be able to mess with guns :saddowns::fh:

It basically won't happen without a lot of shit, unless you count russia as europe. You'll have no hard time finding the black market.

What? Are you joking? No it's not! It's easy to get one, post police stations let you apply, otherwise we wouldn't have all these shotguns in the UK.

In the US you can walk to the street corner, enter a store, buy a gun on the spot, and leave all in about 20 minutes.
Quick Question, what is a good state for owning firearms? Indiana? Ohio? Colorado? Alaska?

Any place not touching the ocean.

Assuming you can pass a background check.

Lol you think russia having easy gunlaws.
Here in Finland you can get pretty much M14 or Saiga-12 easily if you aren't a complete fuckwad that can't pass the hunting exam by knowing few birds and when can you hunt what.
I got .22lr by just saying I want to target practice. Funfact silencers are completely legal and free to buy here.
Quick Question, what is a good state for owning firearms? Indiana? Ohio? Colorado? Alaska?
Almost any of the Southern states like Texas or Tennessee. Colorado is alright from my experience. Pretty nice prices on most things firearms related..
Kalifornia and New York are the two worst states when it comes to firearms IMO.

I said illegally. I mean fuck in a country where the majority of private businesses pay protection money to the mafia it can't be too hard to find some illegal weaponry.
I said illegally. I mean fuck in a country where the majority of private businesses pay protection money to the mafia it can't be too hard to find some illegal weaponry.
The fuck do you do with illegal weapons.
1) You can't go to a range with it, as it raises a lot of suspicion when almost all but some shotguns are illegal in Russia
2) You can't use it for self-protection as it'll get you to jail (Whereas a semi-auto stungas-gun would not)
Are you going to rub it at home and go to the woods to shoot it? (And pay $$$ for ammo since it's hard to get)
Common misconception due to birdshots lack of long range penetration. At home-defense range (less than 30 feet) although the shot might not penetrate far into the assailant, will still cause a tremendous amount of shock damage, enough to be lethal in many cases, but incapacitating at the least.
Edit:
The Box o' truth is true. For boxes ;). It doesn't take into account the physical effect of being hit.
You don't know what you're talking about.
At point blank range it still won't provide enough penetration to achieve any level of "stopping power."
Pain is not stopping power.

Well the thing is with a shotgun, it doesn't really take much firearms experience to point and shoot with a lethal degree of accuracy.
Even with a full choke, you've got enough spread just a few feet from the muzzle* to make it vastly easier for an inexperienced individual to take on a threat. It doesn't matter how harsh the recoil is, one shot of 00 buck is going to stop anything in north America, at a reasonable distance. Not like you'll need a follow up shot...
*Only about an inch or so, but this isn't wall covering spread we're talking about, even out past the weapon's effective range. It's just enough to make it easier to hit a vital organ when shooting for the center of mass.

Don't forget Maryland, New Hampshire, and Maine.
Living in Indiana, I have to say we have the most lax gun laws of any place. The only thing that's a little frowned on is open carry, but it's not illegal. I've bought 9 guns in the past 2 years and all of them took less than 5 minutes from the time I did the paperwork till the time I walked out the door with the gun.

Yeah you're right what I said was pretty much irrelevant anyways.
Also:
How much would your average AKM cost in USD if there were no restrictions on fully automatic weaponry?

About $30k.
There's no restrictions on automatic weapons, besides requiring more paper work and a tax stamp. They just have to be made/imported before 1986.
That's not what i meant.
I meant without all the taxes, fees, charges etc not related to the gun. Basically, africa cost.

$10K is the average price on a registered AK 47. $30K would net you two M2HBs on a twin mount and shitloads of ammo, or maybe a German MG42.
Also, if that weren't the case, they would cost as much as the semi-automatic versions.

Africa cost is around $50.

No, they do get up that high.
Well, in Poland its very hard to get a firearm apparently unless its from before 1850. Any good guns from this ages?

"Any firearm that uses only black powder as a propellant and that was manufactured before 1850 and replicas of such weapons, do not require a license."

I have never seen an AK go that high.
Average price for an automatic, registered AK is $10K to $15K, if one goes for $30K, it must be really fucking special.

The most expensive one is the Korean one for $20,000, and those are very rare. Same goes for the AKS 47U.
Don't forget Maryland.
I disagree, I'm living in the suburbs outside of Baltimore and have no trouble acquiring any firearms at all. Almost every outdoors store or sporting goods store carries them, and there are gunsmiths and shop that specifically sell firearms dotted everywhere. Hell, if you cross the bay bridge they are everywhere (although I'm scared of the shore billys they have over there).
