Quick Question...
Anyone here have a S&W Sigma 40F by chance?
Was interrested in getting one since you can find one for $325-$350 at the gun shows.
Heard they were good, came in .45 .40S&W or 9MM and i like their looks
I heard they were pretty bad. Look up the reviews for them. I'd suggest you save more money and get a M&P, Springfield XD, or Glock.

Well that was my 2nd choice, glock 17 was my first.
The new ones run ya 650 though, thinking of a used one.

Glock for $650? That's way too much. You can get a 3rd gen Glock for $450-$500.

A friend of mine has one. Bought it as an analog to the Glock. Never shoots it though. Should give you some idea.
It's basically a budget gun built for police departments that have to buy from the lowest bidder and they go for S&W because of the brand name. But they forget that while S&W revolvers are excellent their automatics tend to be dodgy. Of those this is reportedly the worst.
I'd say for that money get one of the Ruger P series. They're a bit chunky but they are built like tanks, reliable and have good accuracy.
Funny, I've never heard S&W having a reputation for producing dodgy automatics. In particular some of their 9mm 1911 clones run perfectly fine.

Glocks are known to have an issue with nose diving rounds in the magazine when chambered in .357sig.
If you want .357sig get a sig p226 or p229.
It's an excellent round, but keep in mind it's just a 9mm +P++.

Actually the luger does have one blaring problem. the grip has PLENTY of room for a double stack magazine, but it was designed for single stack.
Don't .45s with double-stacked magazines have big, awkward grips though?
That and I wonder how easy to find the magazines for that thing are. Then again if you don't mind the 1,200$ price tag I doubt spare mags are out of your reach.
Double-stacked .45s aren't too big at all, they're barely bigger than your average double-stacked 9mm. SOCOM MK23s have huge grips, though.

It was also designed in 1898.

So? It's still a problem. Also the magazine is impossible to load without the assistance of the speedloader.

It's a problem now but it wasn't in 1898, that's what I'm trying to say. Also the magazine doesn't have a speed loader, it loads the same as any Ruger MkIII magazine.

Whopes I meant to say magazine tool.
But the commercial copy that I bought should have been double stack, it was made in 1950.
I'm sorry you're so ignorant and naive. Do you know what self defense is? Do you realize you can't just "not put yourself into that situation" that it's an uncontrollable event? Do you want to walk away from an event like that or be carried away in a coffin? It's your choice, but I chose the former.
Don't call me ignorant just because I have my own opinion :(. I still don't define self defense "practical use" as it is not very practical, it's a shame we have to own weapons to defend ourselves though. I think the only good use for a gun is sporting and target practice.

You forgot about maintaining a militia. The whole point of the second amendment.
it's a shame we have to own weapons to defend ourselves though. .
Well it'd be a damn shame if we had to defend ourselves and ended up dead because we didn't have weapons...

yes because people still do battle by standing in lines and firing inaccurate smoothbore flintlock muskets at each other that take 20 seconds to reload

Your language comprehension skills astonish us all
Jeez, do people really think in USA that they should own guns so that they could overthrow a government that is acting abusively nowadays?
