Have y'all seen this newer thing made by Magpul? This to me does not make sense, it does not look comfortable at all to hold. What do you guys think? It's an angled foregrip.

It is comfy to hold. It gives you better grip at the same time. It looks uncomfy but in reality it's great then just holding the rail protectors
You keep pulling that trigger until the threat is stopped.
There's no pre-set number of times to shoot.
No, you shoot twice and then reassess. If you are a special branch of Law Enforcement then you may place a third in the head.
Two should stop most targets just fine. You don't want to just keep squeezing the trigger because that puts other lives in danger.
No, you shoot twice and then reassess.
Nope, you shoot until the threat has been incapacitated. It could take two shots or it could take five shots.
In my future, I want to buy a double barreled hunting shotgun, it's a nice weapon.
Although in our country it's quite hard to get weapons.

GunFox is right, you take two shots, then you aim for the head if needed.

You have to give them a second to drop. Your first could turn their heart into hamburger meat and you might put another six rounds into the chest before they keel over.
Two shots is sufficient to give them pause and let your eyes refocus and let you know how effective the shots were.
You don't want to waste ammunition unnecessarily and, more importantly for the civilian shooter, you don't want rounds to miss and hit other people. I cannot emphasize this enough. Emptying the magazine may seem tempting but that puts innocent lives in danger.

a gimmick, unless you do things that might require being highspeed (shooting competitions or playing the most dangerous game, etc). that style of shooting seems to be the next big thing, since you got more control the closer to the muzzle you hold it, but I don't know, I just shoot paper
Magpul makes legitimately good stuff but people really seem to obsess over them. At least they aren't tapco, in any case. Also, I'm a page or so late but to the guy wondering about whether or not to get a FAL/G3: I can't comment on a FAL (never actually fired one in person), but as for the G3, I'd only recommend it if you have a particular desire for a G3 specifically for whatever reason. Contrary to what Mikhail said (he is a dumbass and should not be listened to) G3s are heavy, dirty-ass boat anchors. That said, they are really unique and cool to own, just a bitch to maintain. If you want a practical .308 caliber battle rifle, I would probably guess that the FAL is the better route to go, just given the G3's downsides (Germans overengineer everything, seriously).

Just to let you know, you're 100% wrong.
You shoot until the threat is stopped. There's no set number of times.
You live in a video game world or something.
In a lot of police shootings, this ends up being multiple magazines.
Also today, as part of getting the .460 running again. I throated the barrel, lapped the chamber, polished the feed ramp and a lot of internal surfaces, I polished the locking lugs, I polished the breach face, cleaned out the firing pin channel, cleaned out the ejector spring channel, and put a white bar on the front sight to make shooting a little faster. Hopefully this damn thing runs good now, it feels like butter.

i don't understand why you say he lives in a video game world when he probably has the most sensible explanation while you are saying to just pour it onto someone, have some tact
[editline]03:19AM[/editline]
Also: what is the best way to fill in stamps on guns, like coloring in serial numbers/proof marks and stuff like that. I used a toothpick to fill in the selector switches on my G3 with model paint, but surely there is a better way?
i don't understand why you say he lives in a video game world when he probably has the most sensible explanation while you are saying to just pour it onto someone
It's simple...
If a person is trying to kill you, taking 2 shots then letting them continue shooting at you is probably not going to ensure a long life span.
If they drop at 1 shot, that's cool. If they don't drop after 2 or 3, keep shooting until they do.

That looks incredibly pointless and uncomfortable.

Crayon or colored pencil.
If you need something more durable, nail polish then use something to wipe off the excess.

Thanks for the additional info (I'm the guy that wanted the FAL). I think I might be able to go on Tuesday and take a look at it... the only day I have off this week.

I assume you just sorta rub the crayon in, right?
If nail polish is anything like acrylic model paint, then doesn't it smear around if you just paint it on? I tried the paint technique on my AK, but I stopped because the white paint was starting to just smear around.

I disagree, I hardly ever clean mine and it works fine.
They get dirty, sure, but it won't matter much to the gun, it's a very reliable action. And when it comes to cleaning, it's not much harder than cleaning my AR15.
As for the FAL, it's certainly a reliable rifle, but I think it's much more overengineered than the G3. It's a very odd rifle.
However, the main thing I like about the FAL is the fact that if you have an L1A1, you can use those badass SUIT scopes. Fucking love SUIT scopes. And with the Metric models you can get dust covers that allow you to use stripper clips, also badass.
[editline]10:06PM[/editline]
God dammit now I wish my L1A1 hadn't exploded.

You just rub a pencil/crayon in, and for nail polish, you glob it on and use a piece of rubber or something that's flat to wipe off the excess in 1 pass. Then you let it set up.

I'm not saying they're unreliable (I don't think I have ever had a failure to feed/extract), I'm just saying they get dirty. If you take the thing apart after shooting it, you're going to get shit all over the place; it's like cleaning out a chimney. The action's to blame, gas pistons (like the FAL) are much cleaner running. I also really dislike the charging handle on the G3, but that's also a fault of the action (the charging handle cams open the roller locks). It just seems to have a lot of unnecessary complexity to it. At least the FAL has a conventional charging handle and gas system.

Yeah the charging handle can be a pain at times, but really I don't think it's that bad. In my opinion, besides the odd controls, the G3 handles much better than the FAL, and it just feels better in my hands (as I've said before). As for the dirtiness, honestly I don't see any problem with it, personally I think it's fun to clean all that crap out of it, but I'm weird like that. Though the G3 would be hell with corrosive ammunition.
I dunno, I just love the G3/CETME (CETME mainly, I love the furniture), I can't really explain why.
While we're on the subject, what's the cheapest source of original German scopes for the G3? The ones that use that weird scope mount, forgot the name.

Claw scope mounts?
They ain't cheap, decent ones usually pushing $70+

Cheaperthandirt has some stuff that may catch your attention.
While we're on the subject of big ass battle rifles:

I'm still of the opinion that plenty of countries did fine in battle without conforming to the current trend of massed fire and intermediate cartridges.
Went to the range yesterday.
My thoughts? 1911s are amazing to shoot, '03 Springfields kick like a mule, 30rd M1 carbine magazines are shitty and recoil with shotgun slugs is not any worse than birdshot. Also, it's hard to keep the muzzle down when rapid-firing a Norinco Type 56S. That is all.

Holy shit Cheaperthandirt has G3 mags for $0.97
awesome i need some g3 mags now
I'm gonna buy 15.
I would like to know some of your opinions on the CX4 storm. I know it's a bit overpriced but I personally love the way it looks and feels, and I think owning one in .40 or .45 would work just fine.
It's just plain overpriced. You can get a Hi-Point Carbine that does basically the same thing for under 200$ and you can buy an aftermarket stock to make it look like a Storm. The magazine capacity is lower though.
What types of metals are used in making guns?
What types of metals are used in making guns?
Anywhere from aluminium to titanium.

I don't think so. The CX4 has better build quality and the Hi-Point mags are known to be flimsy.
Plus, if you own a Beretta 92, the magazines are interchangeable.
K, I'm having about different types of steel now at school, and we're currently on steel used in offshore.
