I've always liked the Makarov. Anyone fired one before?
I've always liked the Makarov. Anyone fired one before?
Not an actual Makarov, I've fired just about every knockoff/version of them though. Its a real nice pistol, but the firing pin is known to be a bit brittle.
I see AIM surplus has some moist nuggets. Would that be a good place to buy one?

Hell the Bulgarian Makarovs are generally considered better than the Russian ones. I have no idea where you're getting the brittle firing pin thing from though, you're probably thinking of CZ 52s, Makarovs don't have brittle firing pins.
I see AIM surplus has some moist nuggets. AIM Surplus is a great company though, I've ordered from them before, fast shipping and great service, and they typically have the best prices out there.
I need help convincing my parents to let me buy a Mosin Nagant, they are concerned about it's safety, like backfire or exploding in my face. I don't know enough about it to defend it, help?
I'm sorry, but it seems to me that if you have to convince your parents to buy it for you, probably shouldn't have it.
I'm buying it with my own money, I have to convince them to let me keep it in the house. Also they don't like foreign made guns/products, so it's more of me having to tell them the world won't collapse if I get it.

I own one, I fire it regularly, I've had it since I was 16, I'm still alive. They're built to withstand incredible amounts of abuse on the field, that gun will outlast you if you take good care of it.
Nagants, like many bolt action rifles also have locking lugs which keep the bolt in battery when it is closed too. It's not quite to the same extent as a Mauser, but even if the gun did "explode" you wouldn't get a bolt through the face, just a ruined gun. They've done everything possible to keep all the hurt going out the front of the gun and not the back.
Anyone know if high capacity Ruger 10/22 mags are legal in NY? Other than pre-ban ones (If those even exist)
Anyone know if high capacity Ruger 10/22 mags are legal in NY?
New York Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device It is a class D felony to manufacture, transport, dispose of, or possess a large capacity ammunition feeding device, which N.Y. Penal Law § 265.00(23) defines as "a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device" manufactured after September 13, 1994, "that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition." Section 265.02. A pre-ban hi-cap mag would be legal then, but they're more expensive and harder to find.

Realy? I live in upstate NY and you can buy 20, 30, and 50 round mags at every store I go to and even higher cap mags. I shop at Gander Mountain and Herb Phillipsons so check there.

Could you give me the link to where you found the firearms laws?
Why the hell can't you dispose of them?
NY lawmakers are some of the most retarded people on the planet, thats not even close to the stupidest thing they've done

Gradually I just kept talking about guns till one day I just told them I bought a gun and they asked to see it. I showed them the gun. Showed them the trigger lock I bought for it and told them I kept it in a secure location unloaded and ammo seperate place. Since then I've bought 3 more guns including a pistol which I keep loaded and within reach while at home at all times. They now don't have such a bad view on guns anymore. And they actually feel safer knowing that I know how to correctly operate a gun and we have a defense inside the house. I've also bought a gun safe I keep the rifles in. It's all about explanation. Most people who are un-educated about guns are influenced by the biased media and think that all guns will go off on their own and are extremely dangerous. Just talk to them about it and explain your situation.
NY lawmakers are some of the most retarded people on the planet, thats not even close to the stupidest thing they've done
It may be in place so people don't have hi-caps in storage saying that they "were in the process of disposing of them". This way if someone is caught with hi-caps they have no excuse for them. [editline]09:38PM[/editline] Additionally, some peoples "disposal" is just throwing them in the trash, or dumping them off somewhere. They could be found and kept by some other person.
if it was good enough to win ww2 it should be good enough for mammas boy

New plinker. Definitely getting a new stock for it, the current stock feels like really cheap.

But hey, it's their house and I'd be stupid to try and move out without a job that pays 40K a year or more and there's no way in hell that will happen any time soon.
Hey, OP, add something to the OP about machine guns.
Hey, OP, add something to the OP about machine guns.
What about machine guns.
Anyone here willing to sell me a 1911? I can't buy from an FFL due to the whole not being 21 thing, but I can purchase one from a private seller and own it with my permit.
What about machine guns.
I dunno. Stuff.
