I'd advise against refinishing it. But if you do, get it reparkerized, don't go for guncoat or duracoat or any of that shit, lots of places can do it, but I can't really name any.
Why are you against refinishing it? I have 2 M1s.
Why are you against refinishing it? I have 2 M1s.
Typically they're worth less if they're refinished, in my opinion they look cooler worn, and it's kinda risky. But it's your rifle.

don't refinish your goddamn m1 garand you mug you only refinish milsurp if it is literally rotting/rusting away as a last measure to save it from becoming inoperable. I don't care how fucked up it looks if it's still in its original condition (hasn't been handled by a bubba since it was released for commercial sales) leave it alone

I can't tell what I'm looking at, but reparkerizing it won't fix that. Just do what Private Ryan said, the rifle is ten times cooler/more valuable/sexier/more collectable if it hasn't been refinished. [editline]05:34PM[/editline] Really it looks fine, my M1903A3 is missing a chunk out of its handguard and it doesn't bother me at all.
As I said to you both, I have another M1, pristine condition. Original everything. I'm just thinking of modifying it so it looks cooler. It looks like trash in my opinion.

American milsurp given the tragic history of bubbafication
To be fair, many M1 rifles have been rearsenaled and refinished many times already during their time in service. Even after the Garand was replaced in service they remained in use as training rifles and many were literally shot to pieces and rebuilt, then shot to pieces again. That's why original WWII era Garands are so expensive and rare.

Hey guys I'm thinking of doing something massive to my garand, make it accept BAR mags. Time and money aside, how safe would it be?
Hey guys I'm thinking of doing something massive to my garand, make it accept BAR mags. Time and money aside, how safe would it be?
:crossarms: Is that even possible?
Yeah it's possible. It'd be perfectly safe too, you just need the skills and tools to do it that's all, it would actually be a fairly easy job though.
I has gun in pents rit no ;l
What?
I am doing rifle shooting at school at the moment. Here is a pic of me with my friends brothers TRG .308 Not sure if it was getting the scope right for my eye or checking my shot, but the bolt is up as you can see. For some reason, it's very windy under the cover where you shoot from, but the grass doesn't move a few metres away

If we had something like this in America people would flip the fuck out 5 ways from sunday nowadays. Granted it used to be that High Schools had marksmanship teams and my community college used to have a firing range (which was turned into a parking lot and the backstop was converted into classrooms) no one EVER talks about the fact that it used to be a firing range, it is more or less a secret.
