Typically they're worth less if they're refinished, in my opinion they look cooler worn, and it's kinda risky.

you only refinish milsurp if it is literally rotting/rusting away as a last measure to save it from becoming inoperable. I don't care how fucked up it looks if it's still in its original condition (hasn't been handled by a bubba since it was released for commercial sales) leave it alone

Really it looks fine, my M1903A3 is missing a chunk out of its handguard and it doesn't bother me at all.
As I said to you both, I have another M1, pristine condition. Original everything. I'm just thinking of modifying it so it looks cooler. It looks like trash in my opinion.

countless surplus guns have been forever ruined because people weren't satisfied with the way they look- it seems like 1 out of 1.5 Krags have been ruined because of this
milsurp is serious business, esp. American milsurp given the tragic history of bubbafication
To be fair, many M1 rifles have been rearsenaled and refinished many times already during their time in service. Even after the Garand was replaced in service they remained in use as training rifles and many were literally shot to pieces and rebuilt, then shot to pieces again. That's why original WWII era Garands are so expensive and rare.

Not sure if it was getting the scope right for my eye or checking my shot, but the bolt is up as you can see.
For some reason, it's very windy under the cover where you shoot from, but the grass doesn't move a few metres away

Granted it used to be that High Schools had marksmanship teams and my community college used to have a firing range (which was turned into a parking lot and the backstop was converted into classrooms) no one EVER talks about the fact that it used to be a firing range, it is more or less a secret.
