do those really tiny guns from like old western movies really do anything?
like the ones that fit inside small purses
You have to be within a few yards to kill someone. Otherwise it's no more deadly than a high power air rifle.
oh lol
also I'm having trouble understanding what's legal and what's not
like automatics
or semi auto matics
or machine guns
are they all banned

If you live in Australia then the answer is yes.
oh yeah sorry, US

Automatics are strictly banned.
Isn't parallax going to be a problem especially with red-dot sights on handguns, the range and the way you hold the gun?

Okayyyyy, I am going to ask you to stand in front of a .22, ANY .22, from 15 feet away, and take two shots... that's more than a few yards by the way.

FUCK I NEED TO GTFO OF CALI.
But hey, I'll be airborne in 9 months and will be either chillin' in Alaska or broiling in North Carolina so, I don't have to worry much longer...

High power air rifles might quite deadly if you manage to hit in a good place. Hell, there are air-rifles that have almost the power of a 9mm or so...
I've read in a paper that some kids had 20$ BB-gun, shot somewhere randomly, and managed to kill one bum with it. So don't underestimate any gun.

MMMONSTER KILL

Oh and, did australia really design the metal storm?
MMMONSTER KILL

Oh and, did australia really design the metal storm?
Considering the company which designed it is based in Brisbane, yes.
To bad I live in victoria, I don't like brisbane.
I want to start reading up on WWII tank/planes and guns. Where to start?
Is metal storm practical at all? Or is it just only experimental?

Wikipedia is always a good point, if you don't want to go to the library and browse there.
Whats the .460 Rowlands range over the .45? I know it has more power but how much more range does it have?
Its range would be up there with a 44 magnum. Optimum range around 150-200 yards.
At 200 yards it has more energy than a .45acp at the muzzle. It's advertised as a 150 yard deer gun.
Is metal storm practical at all? Or is it just only experimental?
Experimental, I define it practical when it's actually used.

200 yards is hellova range for pistol.

Buy an aimpoint.
Then parallax isn't an issue, because aimpoint doesn't suck.

Think of it less like a pistol and more like a magnum power handgun.
Is metal storm practical at all? Or is it just only experimental?
In small arms, no, because you cannot reload the weapon.
In artillery/ordinance, it is, due to the fact that you can fire grenade and small rockets; the best method I've heard of is strapping these into bomb bays, and firing scores of grenades down onto a certain area.
Metal storm isn't practical, It does like what. 1 million bullets per minute?
It will rip the shit in war, although isn't it banned in the genieva(Don' know how to spll it) conversion?

There is still parallax (at least with some models, probably those that cost less than my gun), just wouldn't like buying 400$ sight for a 150$ gun...

Still 200 yards with a handcannon is quite a stretch from most people...

Why you can't, just change the tube?

$400 is extremely cheap for optics, I suggest you look around, especially at decent quality optics. ACOGs run $1200+. Buying optics that are multiple times more expensive than your gun is a fairly common practice, it's not silly.
My Comp M2 doesn't have any parallax issues, not sure about the other models.
200 yards with handgun iron sights is going to be rough for most people, yes. There's plenty of people who can do it though. When we're talking about hunting at that kind of range, usually we're talking about a scoped revolver.
I'm just saying what the round is capable of and advertised to do.
Why you can't, just change the tube?
The tubes are unremovable, due to the electrical wiring through the whole gun. If they did make a version that could be reloadable, it'd be harder to reconnect the wiring that it would be to simply load a new magazine. Plus, the tubes would weigh more than a magazine from that kind of weapon usually, excluding a specific case or two.

There are plenty of books on the matter. You can check local book stores or even libraries.

Yeah, I understand that, but as I have a soviet .22 I shoot for fun I'd rather not buy $400 optics to go with it. If I had $700 .308 I wouldn't think it would be stupid to mount a $2000 Zeiss made out of magic on it.
My current $30 red-dot is very good for the price (Solid steel frame, nothing plastic apart from spring lens caps, 3 picannity rails, weighs a shitton, coated glass lenses) and I was just wondering the parallax effect. Not going to pay 15x of the price just to get a bit better build quality and virtually parallax-free operation for shooting cans and whatnot...

At some point the cables from the tube connect with the gun, that would be a good place to have a connector you can remove.
But yeah, magazines are better option. For that gun, the only way would be dropping the cartridges down from a tube to the barrel.

The things you listed about that red dot are all signs of poor quality.
Aimpoint takes steps to prevent parallax with their design, it's one of their 1st and main selling points aside from durability.

Really? Well I am quite happy with it and it feels 10x better than one of those $20 plastic sights. I needed two rails to mount a laser and flashlight to the ultimate tacticool, so really not much options... Dropped and beaten (Not as much as in any combat zone, I'd take a real sight if I was there or I had a bigger gun with recoil) and still accurate and solid. Price always doesn't mean that it's shit. But still an Aimpoint would be a lot better, not denying that.
